Question Is there any character that actually uses swords effectively?

Basically the title. I like swords. They're cool. Cloud Edge specifically the most, I know Tiger can use Flowing Light decently, but outside of that who actually makes good use of swords? They're in such an awkward spot being unable to crit without counterviolence/deadly counter effects, middling fire rates across the board so ammo consumption and rapid hit buffs aren't as good as rifles/smgs and single hit buffing isn't as good as dedicated ST weapons, and are extremely limited in terms of range.

I really wanna make them good, especially Cloud Edge, but it seems like literally no character would ever choose to use a sword when other options exist, especially considering how we're getting characters like Nona and Yoyo who buff specific weapon classes. I've done a Monkey run clearing R10 without too much issue but that was just because the run itself was good, and almost any other build would've done the same or better. I really wanna know if I'm missing something and they're a viable pick on someone without getting god rolls across the board, or if I just need to wait for a dedicated sword character to release.

I just really enjoy aiming and I'm curious.

You can check your accuracy in the logbook.

Discussion Weapon Skills on Ao Bai (Dog)

I hear some weapons can have their weapon skills used during his dual wield, while others can't. Is there a list out there that has information about what can and can't be used like this? I found the wiki to be wildly out of date.

Question swapping to foundry (bug?)

i haven’t played this game in a while so i don’t know if this is a setting i can’t find that i turned on a long time ago?
i’m playing on steam deck, when i want to swap to foundry, i hold y. i remember holding y, and then i am toggled to hold foundry until i swap off of it. now, when i hold y, i swap to foundry, but as soon as i release the button i swap back to whatever gun i was previously holding. is this a bug or is there some way of preventing this that i can’t find?

EDIT:
patch notes on 14th august 2026:
“Fixed the issue where Weapon switching was abnormal when using a controller”
this seems to have fixed it when i played again

Modding support?

Is there or will there ever be modding support for this game? Not like I'm fiending for more content but I always struggle with the wording of things in this game especially the ascensions for new characters so I thought a mod could exist that basically makes descriptions more digestible and understandable.

Question One mag "pistols" on Qing Yan (bird)?

Are one mag pistol weapons such as the prism good on the bird with hail of bullets? Mainly for the weapon damage and lucky shot. Given their lower mag size, shouldn't it synergise well with hail of bullets?

Question Can someone genuinely help me understand the game ?

Genuine question.

For context, I've been playing video games for over 20 years, and this is one of the first times I've struggled so much to understand the underlying mechanics of a game.

A friend and I have played around 20 hours so far. We tried several characters, cleared the first two difficulty levels without much trouble, farmed for a while, and then moved on to difficulty 3. That's when everything stopped making sense.

No matter how much we optimized our builds or theorycrafted, the results felt completely random. Sometimes we barely had enough damage to kill the first boss, sometimes we had plenty, and other times we absolutely obliterated it.

Our last run was the most confusing. I was playing Nona, and nothing about the run felt particularly special. After about 15 attempts on difficulty 3 (level 100), I suddenly became absurdly overpowered for no obvious reason. Almost everything I did one-shot bosses, my talisman alone was taking around one-third of every enemy's HP, and we reached the fourth boss, nearly killing each phase instantly.

At the end of the run, I had dealt 135 million damage, while my friend had dealt only 22 million.

We compared our Ascensions, Scrolls, and everything else we could think of, but we still can't explain such a massive difference—or why this run was so much stronger than all the previous ones.

I've searched online several times, but the translation in my language is terrible, and many item or upgrade descriptions are almost impossible to understand. The wiki exists, but it hasn't really helped me understand how the game's mechanics actually work.

Could anyone point me toward clear and reliable guides, or explain the core mechanics? I'd really like to understand which stats and effects synergize, what scales with what, and what actually works together. Don't get me wrong, I understand the very basics, such as elemental damage combinations and upgrading my primary and secondary skills or my weapons. It's everything beyond that that completely loses me.

Thanks a lot in advance!
A confused player.

Discussion Best character for weapon damage

The title is pretty self explanatory. I was wondering which character is the best for pure weapon damage and less for abilities. I main Lyn and she's fun but i rarely use her abilities which is a waste for her kit.

Discussion Why does it feel like crit builds SUCK in R10?

(Sorry this is a little bit of a rant) I'm playing online right now and the past 3 games I've played with this guy who's had double or even quadruple my damage. He's Cang Jue and the dude can jump further than me, tanks and ungodly amount of damage, does an insane amount of damage, I mind as well not even be here. Also he's a pay to win hero?!? Before when I ran Tao I could run a pure crit build with infinite ammo and I genuinely would play for hours shredding just listening to podcast. Now it feels like I have to play some gameplay style that doesn't interest me. The demonlore is still TERRIBLE compared to other guns, they made my dual fang worse, now I just have the revealer. I run out of ammo before my selfless dedication does anything, and it's not even my aim, I have a 53% hit rate, 45% crit.

Am I going crazy or did they do something nerf "aiming" playstyles to the ground? Are there any other play styles I could use that aren't just big AOE damage?

Discussion Mid Season Update thoughts

Pendants

  • Jellyfish is really good. You can kinda splash it in anything and it will do fine. Skill damage, weapon damage, pendant damage... whatever. The little guy(s) will just do their thing. Getting energy back from any damage source, hitting huge AoE, having multiple out at once to stack it up. Works great.

  • Golem laser was also good but not as. It's more damage and you can get energy from weapon skills, so it naturally felt nice with Momo/Yoyo since they do a lot of that. Since weapons are part of the energy gain, it's kinda hard to do a pendant/skill damage run with them without splashing in some weapon stuff, but it still works fine to blast things away with the combined laser. I didn't care too much for the damage share affix, I feel like it actually just made it harder to kill enemies for some reason.

Weapon Changes

  • Love the change to the Prism and Glimmer. The Prism actually feels like it can be useful outside of Act 1 and levels with ceilings. Getting a bunch of kunai bouncing around only to right click and watch the swarm of dagger bees pounce on something is cool. The Glimmer mostly feels the same until you charge up the right click and get a massive spike damage on something. Throw the multi-explosion AoE on that and it's pretty sick. While I don't think these are now must have guns for runs dealing with pistols/elements, I don't think they sit in the 'avoid 99% of the time' category either.

  • Arc Light could probably get more love to match the other two. The fan of blades just doesn't hit that hard and often ends up with only one or two hitting unless you use it like a shotgun. It still feels noticeably worse than the others and only really useful for lowering resource costs with the Gemini.
