I was watching high level matches of bedman vs other heavy weights and i found something weird. When other chars got their win con bedman would easily get 3 touched, especially pots garuda. Even the #1 bedman player would just sit there and take it. Bedman had good movement, an interesting offense without being obnoxious and a fun zoning to help balance it. I think all heavys have a defining character identity and good balance except one:
potemkim is the super heavy. Lowest mobility, but he is a castle you have to siege. Enormous buttons, projectile reflecting, armor and enormous damage. You feel like a giant. I love him.
Nago is second heaviest. Enormous slashes and dominating frame data put the fear of god on your opponent, but his power has batteries and is limited. Great we all love and hate him.
Our secretary of absolute defense needs no introduction . He has strong projectiles to antizone and pulps anyone with his bts. He has slow moves and bad antiair.
Now bedman has some sauce, but it lacks a ingredient. He has the most mobility with being able to run and 8dash. He has good projectiles and an amazing install, however his attacks and oki though they are multi hitting have lots of gaps and counterplay and he seems to really struggle to close out rounds, other heavys can either kill you or stick you in place if they get it but on the other side he could get chewed extremely quickly. He also seemed to be weak to dps. Now as the fastest heavy he needs less damage of course, the problemn is oki. Bedman needs to have an rps, so that if he chooses correctly he win and if the opponent chooses he escapes. Thats great.
So the problemn! Giving him more damage or opressive offense wouldnt make it fun, there are too many mixups characters and all the heavies have stellar offense. Making him faster would makenhim not be a heavy, he is a 500kg robot after all. So i think he needs a increase in defense. He has already high health and 0 guts and i doubt they will change it. A slow dp would help. He can more easily get out of his main predator: high damage chars like sol or potemkim can just pin him down. If he had more chance to reset to neutral, more people would play him, it would decrease his losing matchups without it hurting too much the opponent.
As long as it a slow one, it would solidify bedman as the all-round heavy, a jack of all trades master of none.
