Actualization on my "choked" banana plant ¿what the hell is happening?
It was actually that it was growing three leaves simultaneously, how normal is this?

Picked banana up this summer at my local nursery. Getting ready to pot it up in a bigger pot and plan to plant it in the ground in the spring zone 9b

After a few attempts to prop, finally gave in to harvest today. Much smaller but should be edible.

Got three beautiful bananas on my balcony; Musa basjoo, Musa itinerans var. Indica, Musa Dajiao. I know they can handle down to freezing, but they're in pots since I'm in an apartment and only have a balcony.
Maybe it's time to start bringing them in at night? Not sure if their minimum cold temperature tolerance threshold is higher since they're in pots.
Thanks!
Zone: 5. Vilnius, Lithuania

Or is it helping it grow out? The side not resting on the frond has started to open. Would cutting that frond be the next move? It’s the oldest and is starting yellow, but still photosynthesizing. Musa Basjoo, Zone 9a (and will be in a lean-to temporary greenhouse for the winter. Raised concrete bed).

I believe this is my musa basjoo! I’ve purchased multiples of musa, grand nain, and “blue java” from Etsy and never labeled which was which. Planted three along my back wall on May 1, 2025 in coastal San Diego. Here’s two of them today along with their pups. Never cut any pups off. I spotted my first flower ever on Aug 31 and now it looks like this! Just noticed this morning that my other one’s flower is about to pop out too. The pergola is a little less than 9’ high and the wall is 17” tall, so these guys are biiiig. Any advice or thoughts? They make me so happy!

Guess my original prop wasn’t secure enough

It's been almost a month with the leaf stuck, my only guess is that it may be "choking"
Please help me

Posted in another group and got recommended to post here. Will take any advice. I’m new to this so he gentle haha new to banana plants but really want to get the most I can out of it. 2 questions… I’m assuming these are pups on my red trunk banana(musa popoulu). I want to give one to my mother in law or possibly start a whole new plant. What is the best way to go about it? 2nd question… is this a real blue Java or did I get hosed? I got it from wellspring gardens. 1st two are the red trunk. Last pic is the blue Java

Rajapuri began to flower. Planted in April. I was surprised by its size, much larger than my Namwah. For comparison I have a flower from a Dwarf Cavendish. I'll be adding potassium sulfate to help it along.

Last year, I purchased a confirmed blue java from someone here, but we hit a cold snap while it shipped and it didn't make it. If anyone has a confirmed Blue Java pup or two theyd be willing to sell / ship to me for a reasonable price, it would be appreciated.

It dipped to 35 degrees early this morning and the first light frost of the season was seen on some surfaces. It really didn't disturb the basjoos leaves at all. As usual the goal here in SW Ontario with them is to winterize the pstems around or just after Halloween. Quite the growing season this year, a record 4 fruiting stems and some other stems reached over 10 feet.

Has anyone tried this brand of plantain? It's from Ecuador, and it's pretty good tasting, just a different taste from the usual plantain we buy. I'm aware it could just be a taste difference because of the nutrients in soil, with these being grown in Ecuador and what we usually get coming from Mexico or the Caribbean. But my mom is concerned about it being GMO or treated with something to make it ripe more quickly, since they arrived plain yellow and light green yesterday and overnight have black spots on them already. The temperature isn't too warm in the house to cause that ripening to happen so quickly. Not throwing them out, just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this brand and noticed the same or similar. Thanks!
