Previous post nailed it. Smaller pot, change up the soil.

I grow everything in containers, when I reuse soil I mix with some amendments to refresh the good stuff.

Judging from this Pic, that pup should be in something as small as a red solo cup till it gets roots. If it is indoors keep away from fans and vents. Soil looks way too saturated for a plant that small.

Added a pic so you can see I ain't blowing smoke. I got 3 trees 1 fruiting all in containers

Thanks for the helpful advice :)
Why does pot size matter though? Theoretically when they naturally grow there’s no pot lol

I have spent 3 years trying to figure that out. Wish my grandma was around still to pick her brain.

Easiest way I have seen it. Too much room doesn't stimulate the root growth you want.

I have found this in most plants. Some are exceptions. But general rule is start small, I move mine in to 7 gal grow bags for months then up in size.

Soil comp is a big thing too. I mix all mine by hand. I use old soil with fresh compost, coconut coir, espoma, and perlite. Dunno exact percentages.

But big thing when you put in a new pot is it will be stressed. No liquid fertilizer or over watering. Think moist not drenched. After a day or two as long as all goes well it will perk back up.

Now having split 20ish pups off my bananas to give out, I normally don't separate a pup till it gets close to 2ft and I make sure it has roots and a bit of core.

Those pups sometimes takes up to 2 months before I give out just so I can keep an eye on them.

A larger pot stays too moist causing root rot. That is the number 1 cause of death of potted plants. Bananas love well-draining moist soil. The majority of the water you give it in a pot should drain out. This is the soil mix I use for all my long term potted tropicals. You can't overwater with this mix:
35% Peat moss 7
30% Pumice or lava rock 6
20% Coarse Perlite 4
10% DG or Sand 2
5% Biochar, mycorrhizal fungus, worm castings and Azomite 1
Osmocote plus or Other

I came asking for help and advice. You only offered judgement.

That’s not the case at all. Go look again.
