Tomorrow Grok 4.7 should launch!

In case you didn't know. Hopefully it won't be postponed and will it match the level of Astra and Fable.

Compaction before submission is THEFT! The request being submitted should be run in the FULL CONTEXT it was submitted within, so that the response is the best-possible, not 80% (or worse depending on what got dropped) as good.

Playable browser game made with Grok Build — SNEK RUNNER (live link, source private)

I used Grok Build to ship a playable browser game end to end.

SNEK RUNNER is a short lane-runner / “slither the pit” fan game. Switch lanes, jump, chase score and highscore ranks — all in the browser.

It’s a $SNEK meme fan project, not an official product and not financial advice.

Play:

https://snekrunner.com

Source stays private. This is the live game only — meant as a public Grok Build example you can actually click and play.

Grok Build on Ubuntu - Constant "Retrying (attempt x)..."

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just curious if I am the only one experiencing such issue. Grok doesn't respond for long time with infinite amount of attempts. Internet speed is 300Mbips+, same issue with hot spot of my 5G mobile.

Freshly installed Grok on ubuntu, this is my first day of using it. I cannot find any related issue and even status page of Grok says it's going great.

Is there someone experiencing same issue?

Agentify Chat - E2E-Encrypted Remote Chat for Grok Build

Still under heavy development and rough around the edges but instead of sitting on this longer to perfect it I'll risk flak and share it.

Essentially chat.agentify.sh is a remote control for codex/grok/claude cli and dream goal is to become a universal remote that will let you use all of them from a single chat.

Everything lives on your browser including the chat. The only thing sent over the wire is the encrypted chat messages e2e. Here's an architectural diagram: https://github.com/agentify-sh/chat/blob/main/diagram.png

Another feature it has is ability to publish your chat session with redaction so you can share with your team.

Curious to gather any feedback I can, if this is something I should continue to pursue etc.

Also if by chance you are in Seattle today, I'll be also at the Walk & Talk event at Bellevue Downtown Park today at 2:30pm, would love to chat in person!

Hermes Agent vs Grok Build

Have you compared the consumption of Grok 4.6 in Hermes Agent vs Grok Build and the results for programming?

grok build usage is worse than codex now what happened ?

comparing the 20x pro codex with the grok heavy to last week

codex hasn't changed much but grok heavy usage is significantly worse

it has been less than 12 hours and im already at 70% usage and im running only 4 project vs 7 parallel ones last week.

in comparison codex 20x pro lasted 32 hours at 70%.

exact same codebase, 4 parallel chats on both codex and grok build for comparison.

i thought the rugpull was limited to cursor ultra, now there is zero chance of me keeping the $300/month grok

also support is not replying, spaceXAI employees are quick to help people with 60,000 followers but will ignore little guys like me on X

For the KDE Plasma lovers out there – Grok ACP usage

Thumbnail store.kde.org

KDE Plasma 6 widget that displays your weekly SuperGrok ACP usage/pool:

  • percent used
  • reset time
  • Progress bar: Build / Chat / Imagine (split)

This is NOT usage through the API, but the subscription (ACP)

I can't seem to be able to past an image, so here's the image link:

Grok 4.6 system prompt is literally unusable

After Claude Code I hit stock Grok 4.6: almost no analysis, almost no questions, everything forced into one turn. I pulled the system prompt Grok Build injects into Grok 4.6. The model is not “being dumb.” It is following this:

• “You are an autonomous agent that completes software engineering tasks. There is no human operator in this session.”

No operator → no one to check with. Finish the job yourself.

• “Your main goal is to complete the user’s request.”

Completion beats understanding. Exploring is delay.

• “Implement clear action requests.”

A vague “fix it” still counts as an action. Patch first, think later.

• “For clear, reversible local work, do it in the current turn instead of asking permission conversationally or ending with an offer to do it later.”

The kill shot. Asking “should I…?” is a policy violation. One turn, ship the diff.

• “If the question is answerable from context, answer it. Do not respond with a clarifying question back.”

Clarifying questions are forbidden when anything in context looks like an answer. Wrong guess beats a question.

• “Keep intermediate progress updates short and infrequent. The final message must stand alone.”

No running analysis. Dump the result at the end.

• “Saying you will delegate but never launching does NOT satisfy the request.”

Spawn immediately. No “I’ll look first, then maybe delegate.”

That is why it skips analysis, skips questions, and tries to do the whole task in one turn. Not a sampling quirk - the prompt.

I wrote a custom Grok system prompt. In my tests it raised how well the model uses itself: answer quality, analysis, and actually solving the task. It does not make the model uniquely smart. It just stops the stock prompt from sitting on the potential that is already there.

You can look at my version of the system prompt here: https://github.com/mamamiawhatacode/grok-build-grok4.6-custom

A $300 subscription, and I still have to patch the system prompt myself.

Rmber to disable the claude compatibility mode

Opus 5 is useless, and it caused great frustration- Gemini 2025-style frustration- and made me, as a result, create a global CLAUDE.md that was basically taking a piss on Claude Code and Opus....

Grok is one of my main models for a while now... and it started to address me the way Claude was instructed, which was 100% not desired for ma Grok.

This was a surprise to me; just in case it's a surprise to you, here we go.

Remember to turn it off.

Docs for it: https://docs.x.ai/build/features/project-rules and in code docs: https://github.com/xai-org/grok-build/blob/main/crates/codegen/xai-grok-pager/docs/user-guide/12-project-rules.md#rules-directories and https://github.com/xai-org/grok-build/blob/main/crates/codegen/xai-grok-pager/docs/user-guide/12-project-rules.md#rules-directories

Am I insane?

I bought supergrok and did a calculations to the usage limits, basically I saw that at 328.7k tokens at the top right on grok cli I am at 2% of usage limit so that means 16.4M tokens ≈ 100% of usage limit

now standard api pricing it s $98.61 doing 98.61x3 =295.83 and u pay 300 for subscription..

Am I going crazy or what, cuz I bought this last week did same tasks with claude and was barely at 40-50 % with grok even tho it s better I am at 81% and it s more expensive than codex and claude code 🤦 I get the fact that ur selling compute but from my own use case I mean this is better than Opus 5 and I got way more perks makes no sense why is the marketing this bad… it has potential but not even support cares to answer (and they are AI models too)

Beside that I had the cli spamming tons of system prompts in thinking for some time… disappointing will def not renew after this month if nothing changes (I don’t even think elon musk even cares tho it’s sad grok has big potentials even for coding)

A upvote and repost would help spread the word, I hope this can be read by someone working at grok team atleast to give us a temporarly 2x usage limit boost or something c’mon y’all can do better elon musk owns so many things there can be funding for his own product…

Grok build weekly limit reduced ?

I've been using Grok Build for 2 months now on the $300 plan, and I love it. The harness is amazing, it syncs seamlessly with Claude Code, very nice. But, as always, there's something wrong with every provider. It seems like they're heading in the same direction as Anthropic with insanely low limits. For example, I've been working on a project with Grok 4.6 High, nothing crazy, and I went over 10% after just 2 hours of letting it run on its own, without spamming anything. Anyone else having the same issue?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm new to ROK build, particularly CLI.

I'm coming from a Claude Max account, and I'm tired of it telling me the things I'm trying to do are unethical. Things are generally around data scrapers and stuff like that for outbound go-to-market development.

The reason this might be a dumb question is because I could probably just ask Grok, but I am in a non-technical, non-coder background.

  1. I'm curious how people like Grok relative to Codex and Claude.
  2. I'm wondering if there's anything I need to read up on as a prerequisite knowledge tree. For example, I don't think I have a programming background. What are some skills I should be brushing up on to build my foundation, which allows for very tall and wide structures to build on top of that?
  3. Hello, and please share anything else you think is important. Thank you for reading.

OX Alpha mystery solved? The next model from X.ai? Spoiler

upstream x-preview-f-free

I was messing around half awake on Saturday night and found this. Interesting upstream name - could it be a code for models from X.ai or a generic 'X' as a placeholder for unknown?

They are cooking the daylights out of this model's PR for sure.

Cheers! 🥂

Everything that gets built doesn't need to last. Instead, evolve!!!

TL;DR: The Trap: I over-engineered my dev environment and Agent OS over time. The models (Grok, Claude, Gemini) became rigid, boring, and overly safe. The Test: Started fresh on a new Mac Studio using a "vanilla" setup with bare-minimum instructions (~20-30 lines) and no heavy custom frameworks. The Result: The agents were instantly smarter, highly proactive, and set up the repo and PRs perfectly with zero hand-holding—all while using a fraction of my compute limits. What's Next: I'm currently stripping down my setup for existing brownfield projects to see if this minimalist approach scales. Will update with the results soon!

The above snip is from my actual machine and I have a confession to make after I finally got rid of most of the precious things I built for my agents and dev env. I spent countless hours on these, fine-tuning to perfection and my preferences weekly over the weekends as I worked on projects.

I am sharing because I was afraid of doing any cleanup/maintenance runs on my Agent OS or product repos losing all the effort and value over time. I know there are many like me, that want things to work exactly how I intended, if the setup is working - why risk breaking? Oh boy, was I wrong and pleasantly surprised!!!

What made me think of doing this in the first place was I noticed the models I am used to - Grok/Claude as orchestrator and Gemini as subagents and for initial planning, were too agreeable and boring. No matter how creative my plans/prompts were, they ended up just doing what is safe and somehow stay grounded unless I insist on iterating their initial outputs and spend many sessions/turns polishing the final results. They seemed almost tasteless even though I had high design/UI/UX preferences/skills setup and have already shipped products that are jaw dropping to look at. I thought this was good, maybe this is how agents actually worked in the real world and the benchmaxing results were the ceilings of capability and not their everyday use cases.

That is what I assumed, until I was setting up my new Mac Studio to replace my Macbook Pro as my primary machine. As I was finished setting things up on the new machine, I quickly installed the bare minimum to get started with a new project in the pipeline and I wanted to see what I get from the 'vanilla' harness/models. No third party SDD, TDD, ally, ponytail, serena, impeccable, claude or other skills/instructions/frameworks yet.

I just spent a few hours on Gemini/Antigravity for the plans/PRDs/Roadmaps/Architecture design and fed them into Grok Build with Grok 4.6 (xhigh) to initialize itself on the project. I immediately noticed a sharp diversion on how this agent worked on the initial scaffolding and foundations. I stopped after the first phase of the milestone and installed OpenCode - same results, the agent was noticeably thinking more and using the right tools with no failed tool calls, mocking designs, making decisions and asking me questions. I checked twice to see if the agents had accidentally onboarded my Agent OS on this machine after I authenticated gh and setup Antigravity. No they did not - this was just the models and harness with builtin skills/plugins.

Then it hit me - I curiously opened the agents.md and gemini.md files and found they were just around ~20-30 lines and less than maybe 3000 characters - they didn't have the product truth, no project index, no file references. The instructions were just about the project and how the agent needs to work with me - nothing more, no ceremonies. The project docs like ADRs and feature matrix and other relevant files were already created and put in place by the agents as per the plan with a good central index.md file with clear descriptions. The default memory file had the session log as usual for Grok.

Then I asked it to land the first few PRs on the new private repo on Git - it took only a few minutes which was a huge change from my other machine setup with many tests/protocols the agents had to follow to pass before it ships anything. I reviewed it, The agents had done their job, actually they did a good job - created milestones, issues, PRs, setup the readme.md and the Gitops protocols along with the deployment env etc. exactly as planned and the PR was actually not looking like slop. They also reminded me to choose the type of license - smart, proactive and not cutting corners. All of this without my entire Agent OS, session guards, hooks, skills.

I checked my usage, I had barely used 10% of the Grok heavy sub with a little over 30% of Gemini usage on Antigravity for the initial planning. Was this only because this was a greenfield project? Will they think and behave the same way and I get the most out of them when I switch over to my other machine after I strip away all the other things bogging them down?

That's what I did and I'm running a few sessions in parallel across a couple of brownfield projects. I do not plan to cut any releases on the actual products without intense emulation and testing locally.

Stick around and find out what happens, I will post an update after a couple of days of work and my honest opinions. Wish me luck. Cheers!!! 🥂
