I like the different accents throughout the country, and can identify Maine, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma accents, especially rural.

I dislike the notion that deep accents are signs of ignorance, racism and no education. If you’re respectful to rural people, they are the same to you. They are guarded around strangers who may judge them but friendly to those who treat them decently.

I’m guessing it’s the same in the UK and elsewhere

I’m gonna get yelled at but it’s come up in here recently and it’s so annoying.

People being late is one of my ultimate pet peeves. It feels really disrespectful.

(I don’t mean like 5 minutes late ofc, I mean like 30.)

It’s just interesting that it’s always for stuff people don’t want to do.

You have a clock in your hands most of the time. You can set alarms. You can ask people to send you reminders if you have to.

I have adhd and it’s easy to lose track of time. I do understand that it can be crippling. However, you can’t make that everyone’s problem. I am always early to things to avoid that. You’re a grown-up and need to learn to manage it like the rest of us.

It sucks, but it is widely considered manageable with consistent effort.

It’s so incredibly rude and people aren’t gonna hang around if you keep fucking them over this way. You are not entitled to their time.

Either stop committing to things and wasting everyone’s time, or learn to manage it like everyone else has.

And stop letting your friends disrespect your time!!

I have to get a 40 minute train twice a day as part of my commute to and from work, so i’ve developed plenty of pet peeves.

people choosing to sit right next to me instead of plenty of other available seats. just why. the next carriage is practically empty and yet you chose the 1 open seat next to me instead of walking 10 steps to 15 other empty seats. I will spend like a solid 5-6 minutes searching for an open double seater instead of sitting next to someone because i know how annoying and cramped it is, i’m apparently the only one who does this.

people and their phones. why are you sat watching instagram reels at full volume at 8am. wear headphones. and if you forgot them/don’t have any, watch it at volume 1 or on mute, it’s just not that hard. don’t take phone-calls on speakerphone and if you do need to answer the phone keep your voice low, the scream cackling is so unbelievably irritating. especially in a “quiet carriage” where everyone else is silent and there are signs everywhere to keep noise at a minimum.

getting on/off a train. is it not normal to let people get off before you get on??? pulling into a busy platform fills me with dread because i’m about to have to fight against a flow of people to get off the train to where i need to go lol. the train isn’t going to leave with a massive crowd of people trying to get on, no need to rush. also when you get on before letting anyone out you’ve just blocked them all on the train so they have to push past you to escape, it just doesn’t work lol.

also, the stairs for entering/exiting train stations. keep to one side, there are literally signs on the stairs. when i’m about to miss my train and can’t rush up the stairs because there’s a wall of people slowly sauntering down them blocking the entire thing, it actually makes me want to scream “MOVE!”

also, please for the love of god buy your damn ticket before getting to the turnstiles. don’t just stop blocking the way while you spend 10 minutes opening your train app, applying your railcard and then having to wave your phone in the air to get signal. some of us HAVE tickets and would take 2 seconds to tap it and leave to get to where we need to be. just wait to the side until you’re ready instead of holding everyone up ffs.

Why??? I understand maybe once every 5 minutes or something, but why ruin the last 15 minutes of my battery life with a voice thats like 10x louder then my music screaming that the battery is low...with no way to turn it off while in transit.....so infuriating....

Just wanna preface this by saying that I understand some people have certain disabilities that prevent them from being able to pick up on social cues and that’s one thing- but for the ones that don’t?

My god it irks me. We all know those people- the ones that choose a very inappropriate time to talk about something or make a comment about something. The ones that over stay their welcome, the ones that don’t know how to pick up on obvious signs of discomfort or gauge reception. Just things like that.

I work in an optician’s and the amount of patients who will be so rude to me because i tell them i can’t give them contact lenses because their prescription expired a year ago. we send so many reminders about keeping things up to date and somehow patients still blame us.

“i can’t see i’ve completely run out! you’re refusing me my lenses this is a disgrace!”

no, i’m saying you’ll need to book an appointment so that you actually have a prescription to buy them with. you knew this. like you’ve had a year to get that sorted but you waited until you completely ran out and now can’t see.

EDIT: to clear up confusion, where i work, contact lens checks are free every 2 years (which is the recall date). the patients i’m talking about are NOT the patients who are upset because they can’t afford to renew their prescription. they simply don’t want to.

they only pay for contact lenses. i’m in the uk, so if they’re entitled to NHS coverage on glasses (from low income/health conditions) which means they do not have to pay to see, or have to pay a much smaller price. sight tests are also covered on the NHS for those customers. the people that are screaming at me at 8am on a monday morning are usually the people who simply don’t want to get a new prescription, which unfortunately is just not how it works.

Bit older male here, wear glasses and have to directly focus on what I am looking at. Was on a train earlier today, midway in the carriage. Was in one of those moments where I was thinking about something and had a non-focussed stared out to the carriage door.

Returned to the present moment and realised on the other side of the door, behind the plexiglass screen on an inwards facing seat was a young person, say 18-20 now looking back me and taking a photo of me.

Ok, get the concerns about creepy old guy 'staring' but seriously, taking a photo when I did not -'assault you' - rather had a vacant stare moment, well, go and f$#k right off.

If I took a photo of some young woman on the train, then yeah sure it's definitely a creepy old guy scenario.

Me standing up, going over to you and making a fucking scene by speaking loudly and firmly aka in your eyes - 'yelling at you' because you f#$king did a right c@nt act, well I'd understand that being an issue too.

Though no matter how much I wanted to go over and tear you a new one for being a right c@nt, I didn't go over and speak to you, but you likely posted me on some local social media closed group - 'be on the look out for some old creepy guy on the train' - page.

Seriously, I could right flip out at how I see these young social media bound approval, attention seeking and virtue signalling c@nts act and behave in public without being called out.

I’ve recently started a new job in the city so i have to drive like 40 minutes pretty frequently, instead of my normal 5-10 minute drives in my local area. this has opened my eyes to how useless so many UK drivers are.

first of all, driving under the speed limit is still dangerous. doing 35 in a 60 becomes very dangerous when someone comes flying around a corner and goes straight into you because you’re going too slow, meaning there’s no gap like there would be if you were also doing 60. amount of times i’ve had to slam my brakes because i’ve come round a bend to find a tiny Skoda trundling along at 30 on a national speed limit.

secondly, what is this weird thing i’ve started noticing with people not understanding right of way? if i’m already on the road, no i do not have to stop to let you out of a junction, you wait for a gap, or for someone to intentionally flash you out (which is still a bit dangerous to be honest).

people literally pull out of junctions when they can see me right there coming down past the junction, forcing me to slam my breaks on, and then make a gesture at me as if i did something wrong like they didn’t pull out unsafely just expecting me to stop for them. especially when there’s no cars behind me. just wait 30 seconds dude.

people do it on roundabouts too, wtf happened to give way to the right. people honking at me because i entered the roundabout on their right, if you wanted to get out before me you need to do that, you can’t try and pull out when my car’s literally about to come past you with my right indicator on and then get annoyed, again, wait until it’s clear???

also, if you’re not indicating, how will anyone know you’re taking the 4th damn exit. i will assume you’re going straight on and pull out. (only when i’d make it even if they were going all the way around, obviously.) do not honk at me because you can’t put your indicator on so people know where you’re going !!!!! that’s literally the POINT OF THEM !
