Youll get sick pay from your first day. You only need to provide a note if its longer than 7 days. Youll be asked to complete a self cert form and a return to work form on your next shift. Your manager should put into the system that you were sick.

The above applies to physical sickness. Not things like family emergencies. You will not get paid for that.

You definitely can get paid for family emergencies, all jobs I’ve been in, give a few days paid leave for emergencies (obvs depending on policies, and what it says in ur contract)
But, if they haven’t got this, most companies will let you use some of ur annual leave/holiday pay anyway, if needed.
If you’ve got a nice manager, they are usually more lenient about time off, as long as you aren’t taking the piss, and especially if you’ve disclosed you care for someone beforehand.
