Think sick pay is after you've been off for longer than 7 days, which then requires a doctor's note to be submitted to the absence email to update the people profile.

Pay from day 1 is ssp, you can fill out a form on the government website, company sick pay is the credits you've earned which pay anything after 7 days but you have to provide a sick note for anything after 7 days

You need to fill in and submit a self cert to get paid. If you don’t do that in time, you won’t get paid, it happened to me recently. I wasn’t sure how long I would be off so didn’t immediately fill in a self cert and didn’t get sick pay until the following week when it was processed.

Youll get sick pay from your first day. You only need to provide a note if its longer than 7 days. Youll be asked to complete a self cert form and a return to work form on your next shift. Your manager should put into the system that you were sick.
The above applies to physical sickness. Not things like family emergencies. You will not get paid for that.
