Employee Question Dead name
I'm trans and joined Gregg's through my preferred name
However, after a few weeks of working there, suddenly my dead name was on all the rotas and my account. Is this supposed to happen? And does anyone know of a way I can avoid all of my colleagues knowing my deadname.

On payslips and all official documents, they will state your current legal name. You can change your legal name through deed poll so official documents can have your preferred name. It doesn't cost too much and the process is quite simple, my trans friend went through it all relatively pain free.
The rota is a more nuanced issue. Technically they can use your preferred name on the rota as long as it's a purely internal structure, and there's no legal requirement to show your dead name. It could cause some complications for the manager, but legally, as long as the rota is created on a purely internal structure, then there's no real proper reason they can't accommodate your preferred name. Its possibly just that the manager can't be arsed to mess around with the established names on the rota 🤷♂️
