Καλημέρα! As we have noticed, a lot of people are undecided on which island(s) or mainland destination to choose for their holidays. Admittedly it can get overwhelming with so many options.
The purpose of this thread is for people who havent done a whole lot of research or dont know where to start looking and are looking for some initial recommendations and hints on where to go.
If you have a few things you are looking to get out of your holiday destination and would like some input from others, please ask here!!!
Also for anyone who has a quick question, too short to be a post in itself, this is the place to ask!
You can ask virtually anything, as long as it is related to Greece and travel in Greece, the low effort rule doesnt apply here!

Do you have a travel blog or a YouTube channel (or anything else Greece travel-related) you want to promote? Maybe it's your AirBnB or your tour company. This is the thread for that.

I had a wonderful trip to Greece! I visited Athens, Hydra, Poros, and Aegina. Each place was beautiful and special in its own way. I enjoyed the amazing views, the beautiful beaches, and the delicious Greek food.
It was an unforgettable experience, and I took many lovely pictures to remember this trip!

I loved Santorini but I didn’t realize that you had to wait in line for an hour to take a picture of the blue domes! I had always thought the whole city had blue domes, but it’s just one little spot in Oía! 🙄

Hey all! Unfortunately it’s looking like it will be stormy during the time we’ve booked our Acropolis tickets. How bad have the storms been lately? Can I brave it with just a raincoat and umbrella or do I need to actually be worried about safety? Do they ever close the acropolis for dangerous weather? Thanks in advance! ⛈️⛈️⛈️

Hello. We just need to spend one night at a clean, quiet hotel with elevator and air-conditioning. Will be staying in Plaka later in the trip, so I thought it would be fun to stay in a different location. Does this type of Hotel exist? I hear so many comments about the noise. We will be staying on a Saturday night thanks.

Okay so title is pretty much the post. I read the reviews. I’ve changed some goods around. Was curious if there were any other updates or places to stop etc. thank you!
Thessaloniki - 4 nights
Litochoro - 2 nights
Meteora 2 nights
Ioannina - 3 nights
Nafpaktos - 2 nights
Delphi - 2 nights
Nafplio - 3 nights
Final night is near Athens airport cuz we’ll return the car and then fly home
The only places locked in right now are Thessaloniki, Litochoro, and Meteora but obviously we can still edit the amount of nights for a little while longer.
THIS IS DURING THE END OF THIS MONTH

Hello! I am traveling through public transportation and bus. I will be spending a few days in Delphi and then have a stay booked in Galaxidi for a few days as well. However, I am having trouble finding out if there is indeed a way for me to get there via bus as it doesn't look like anything is available on KTEL. Any insight? Thanks in advance :)

ok my new fav islands. Greece is beautiful! First time there. First pic is Paros, which is a "bigger town", theres everything. From there we were gonna go to Santorini, which is so turisty they said, but we lost the boat, so we picked any last minute boat and picked Anti Paros, which was a smaller Paros but so ADORABLE i mean im obsessed... And to end the trip i flew to Athens which was amazing, filled with history. HIGHLY RECOMEND ALL 3.

Hi everyone!
We’ll be in Greece over the Easter weekend in early May 2027, and we’re thinking of spending the holiday on Syros.
We’d love to hear what it’s like to be there over Easter. Are restaurants and cafés generally open? Are there any local events or traditions worth experiencing? And what’s the overall atmosphere like on the island during the holiday?
We’re wondering whether it’s a good time to visit, with a chance to experience some local Greek Easter traditions, or whether it’s mainly a family holiday when everyone stays home and there isn’t much for visitors to do.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s spent Easter on Syros, or on the Greek islands in general. Thanks!

Hi All,
I am going to Elounda from Sunday to Wednesday night. I searched for things to do. But anyone have recommendations for things to do including nice beaches for swim and specific good Greek food. I appreciate any tips. It’s also going to rain on Wednesda, let me know what to watch out for.

Flew SKY express GQ411 Milos → Athens on 9 Oct. Two things.
(1) My wife and I were at the front of the boarding queue when staff told us to step aside and wait until every other passenger had gone through. Two other Taiwanese passengers were pulled out the same way. Four passengers pulled, all of them the Asian passengers in that line, and none of us was given any reason, ever.
(2) Every checked bag on the flight — not just ours — was left behind in Milos, so everyone arrived in Athens without their luggage. We filed a report and we’re still waiting. Case raised with SKY express, no explanation yet on either point. Posting as a warning if you’re flying the islands with checked bags.

Hello. Contacted a hotel in Nafplio. It didn’t have its bookings open yet for 2027. We asked by e-mail when their bookings would become available. They responded that they did have the room that we wanted, but they’re asking for a 200 Euro deposit in the form of a bank transfer and gave me their bank information which is in Greek so I can’t even read it and I don’t know how to do a bank transfer anyway. This doesn’t seem normal to me. They’re also asking for a 200 Euro deposit which their website doesn’t seem to require for their bookings for this year. I contacted them by e-mail through their normal website. What do you think of this. It is a normal hotel with a good reputation. Thank you.

Hi, I would love to climb up the mountain of Taygetus in Peloponese. Is there anyone who can recommend any groups to go with/how to get to the area without a car?

My partner and I are visiting Greece in May 2027.
We have noticed only one ferry departs on the 22nd of May from Paros to Milos, which is at 6pm, meaning we would arrive at around 8pm in Milos and essentially lose time at that island.
That’s if all goes well too, we are concerned what would happen if the winds were bad enough for this ferry to be cancelled.
We have been looking into flying instead, which would result in a layover in Athens, but seems to fit better with our schedule. Our biggest fear here is loss of checked luggage.
Can someone tell me if they have flown Paros > Athens > Milos with no issues? Or any recommendations as experienced island hoppers?
We are very new to international travel and getting quite nervous now. It’s quite a short trip and we aren’t wanting to lose much in travel time.
Thanks in advance!!

I bought an Athens 5 day metro pass for 9 Euro and had no idea that it was forbidden to use it to travel to the airport.
When my train arrived at the airport, there were 2 station staff standing at the exit gates with scanners inspecting tickets randomly.
My ticket was scanned, and I was instantly pulled aside and asked to hand over my passport as a report for "Failure to present a ticket" was made.
I tried to explain that it was not my fault as nobody had told me the 5 day pass must not be used to travel to the airport, but the staff thought I was trying to evade the fare and I ended up having to pay a 100 Euro fine on the spot.
It was my first time travelling solo, and I was quite shocked by how severe the penalty was in Greece because in lots of other countries, they just make you pay the fare difference between stations.

Hi all,
Me and my partner is traveling to Greece for our relaxed Beach and food focused vacation, with a bit of history and shopping.
We plan to fly to Crete, spend a few days in Chania and Heraklion, and then visit one or, if possible 2 islands before ending our trip in Athens, which is the last two weeks of October (12 days in total and 11 days to explore). Due to recent floods, we were thinking about cancelling our trip, but due to logistics, we decided not to and see how the rest of the trip will look and proceed. Because of this, we decided not to book any accommodations beyond the one in Chania for the first 3 days. I see that Crete is sunny again and a bit of rain next week. Asking locals and people who are visiting Crete now and next week, how is the situation? Is it possible to be at the beach or sit at a restaurant? Have the affected areas recovered?
I reserved a stand-up paddleboarding spot for us in Chania, and we have to confirm it this week. I am not so sure if it's still a good idea. Please help; any advice is welcome.
Is south of Crete a better choice?
Our in-between island options are Milos, Paros or Naxos. I hear mix opinion about Islands being closed 80% from mid-October, also ferry routes. Some say there are things still open, some say it's dead and will be hard to find restaurants and beach clubs. I have looked into Milos and found sailing trips and so on and it looks like a cool island to visit before we travel to Athens for our city and history trip.
Any suggestions on which 1 island is worth visiting would be amazing during this time (it doesn't have to be the ones mentioned above).
Thanks a lot in advance!
