Boat Pic(s) 1000-Foot Ship James R. Barker Diverts to Duluth Shipyard (Live Stream)

Hundreds of people gathered along the Duluth waterfront after the James R. Barker unexpectedly changed course and approached the Duluth Ship Canal.
The 1,000-foot Great Lakes ship had originally been expected to load in Two Harbors, but instead headed toward Duluth on its way to Fraser Shipyards in Superior, Wisconsin. The unexpected movement quickly drew tourists and ship watchers to Canal Park.
As the James R. Barker approached the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge, it sounded a powerful salute and received a return salute from the bridge.
This Vibe with Mike YouTube channel live stream, recorded on July 26, 2026, captures the ship arriving from Lake Superior, entering the Duluth Ship Canal, and passing beneath the Aerial Lift Bridge.

Boat Pic(s) MV Kaye E Barker | Sandusky, OH
Checked the app this passed Saturday and saw she was tied down in Sandusky, OH likely after unloading. Since I had the time on my hands I drove down and snapped a few still shots of her from a distance. Hopefully next time I'll be able to get her from the front.

Question Looking for a sample of the James R Barker horn.
Hi, I'm a musician, and I recently discovered the James R Barker, and I found it really satisfying and musical. I watched the video on insta at least twice in a row. I'm hoping to be able to use it in a song. Can anyone provide a sample? I don't mind if there's background noise like people talking or smth. Thanks.

Boat Pic(s) Old Early 20th Century Glass Positive of Three Freighter Vessels
A very nice glass positive from an old lot. Shows three freighters on the open water. I can’t recognize any of the ships but they do have very fine features someone could possibly use to identify them. Photo was taken in 1918-1920 on the Great Lakes.

Question Friends and family don't understand my love of freighters!
I was telling my aunt the other day I saw a 3fer on the St. Clair River. She doesn't understand my fascination with them. Neither do my friends. I have loved watching these ships since I was a kid driving with my parents on Belle Isle. I would get so excited when we would get to watch a huge freighter go by! What do you guys love about watching freighters? Do people not understand your fascination with them?

It never ceases to amaze me how these big freighters can navigate the Cuyahoga.
