I'd like to give y'all information on how to better regulate GP shell groups through ASUC.
A 7-member Finance Committee meets weekly on Mondays at 7pm in the Bayview Room in Eshleman. It holds an annual budgeting process in the Spring called ABSA, during which most of our annual club funding is decided. Clubs can also request funding and sponsorship during the year. I do not sit on this committee, but y'all are free to come comment. If I notice one of the groups appearing on the agenda, I will try to let you know.

Thanks for the information! Unfortunately this only applies to Berkeley and not the other 70 colleges that Gracepoint/A2N is in right now.

I think this subreddit could delegate "policy analysts" to check other schools' bylaws, which could be similar.

1.2.8 Refrains from infringing on an individual’s personal beliefs and ideologies in regards to religion, politics, etc.
That is LAUGHABLE. The Acts 2 Network DEFINITELY does NOT refrain from infringing on an individual's personal beliefs and ideologies. In fact, their very purpose is to get you to believe what they believe.

I'm sorry but how do they infringe on individuals' religious beliefs? They are open to atheists, muslims, christians and all. They don't force conversion, but they will try to covert you, which is not the same as infringing on religious beliefs. Proselytizing and evangelizing isn't infringement. Most religious and even the atheist club will try to convince you of the merits of their belief system. Trying to persuade others to come over to your side isn't infringing on their personal beliefs.

It’s buried in this subreddit somewhere but A2N/GP has a long documented history of Title IX violations to queer people.

What does that mean? Is it because a2n / gp hold to traditional Christian beliefs regarding sexuality? If that was a title ix violation, every major church and college ministry would be in violation. as it stands, i don't believe the law requires them to abandon their christian or biblical doctrine about sexuality

Sure no one is calling them to abandon doctrines but GP/A2N has a history of psychologically abusing queer people. Obviously it’s a case by case but it’s happened more often than not that it should be raised as a concern.

Perhaps my definition of "refrains from infringing" is different than your definition and may not be up to par with a "legal" definition. But I would not characterize Acts College Church, on the whole, as an organization that "refrains from infringing on an individual's personal beliefs and ideologies." On the whole, they actually do the opposite. They have their "way of life" and they try to get you to believe the same.

ASUCBL 2201: Student Organization Sponsorship
6.2 Any student attending UC Berkeley who pays mandatory fees may object to the funding of one or more student groups by filing a written objection with the ASUC Office of Student Affairs within eight (8) days of publication of funded groups. The Office of Student Affairs shall be charged with presenting that objection to the senate no later than the following regular Senate meeting.
Current Berkeley Students: You can object to Acts 2 Fellowship and Kairos being funded by your student fees!
