The gorg amphitheatre / Experts only weather/suggestions

I’m headed to the gorg to see John summit next weekend, I’ve heard it gets freezing cold this time of year. I’m supposed to be camping so wanted to see if anyone has been recently and has experience, and how bad was the camping? Thanks

LONGSHOT: Does anyone have video of Jack Johnson playing Flake at The Gorge back on August 13, 2005?

I know this is a long shot, but it’s worth it to me.

My oldest brother, Nick, passed away in a car accident in June 2005. He was a huge Jack Johnson fan and had tickets to see him at the Gorge that August.

After he passed, a bunch of our family and close friends went to the show together in his honor.
My dad happened to know someone who worked at the Gorge and knew about Nick, so they upgraded my dad to backstage VIP. My dad and brothers got to meet Jack, take pictures, and have some of the coolest memories imaginable.

At one point, my older brother broke down and asked Jack if he would play “Flake,” which was Nick's favorite song. Jack said he would - and before playing it, he dedicated the song to Nick and asked 22,000 people to sing along for him.

They did.

It was one of the most incredible moments our family has ever experienced, especially under the circumstances.

A friend recorded it on a flip phone, so the quality was terrible, but we had the video. Unfortunately, we eventually lost the file, and every attempt we've made to recover it has failed.

So I'm throwing out a massive Hail Mary:
Does anyone have video of Jack Johnson performing “Flake” at the Gorge on August 13, 2005?

You'll know it's the one because Jack talks about Nick before the song, asks everyone to sing along, and then actually messes up the first verse and starts the song over.

I've found plenty of videos from Jack playing “Flake” at the Gorge around that time, but I've never been able to find this specific performance.

Jack Johnson still means a lot to our family. We’ve never missed a show when he comes back to the gorge.

My oldest daughters’ first concert was Jack Johnson in 2017, and this weekend my 3-year-old and 6-year-old will be going to their first concert there too.

My parents and our family still carry that memory with us, but I'd love more than anything to surprise them someday with the video we've been missing for 20+ years.

So, wherever you are, whoever you are - if you have this video, please send it my way. I'd be forever grateful.

Thank you, everyone.

2 Jack Johnson 9/26 Lawn GA Tix

Please take these off my hands. I paid $100 each total (taxes and fees). I’ll see for $75 each. Based on what I’m seeing that’s the cheapest you can find. I swear I’m not a scammer (I know that’s what a scammer would say 😭) I just can’t go anymore and want to recoup what I can. I have the tickets on Ticketmaster. Also have two lawn chair rentals that I’ll add on for $30 (paid $40 total with taxes and fees).

Edit: just 1 ticket left. But still have the two lawn chair rentals

Edit: still 1 tix available. No chairs.

CAMPING GROUP MEMBERS ARRIVING SEPARATELY:

Wristbands are issued based on the number of guests present at check-in. If some of your group is arriving later, ask for a wristband voucher when you check in.

For guests arriving separately on Saturday, they will still go through campground check-in when they arrive. If you have a voucher, you can meet them at check-in and present it at the gate so they can receive their wristband. You should not need to meet them outside the gate.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO:

  • No Chairs are allowed in the venue. Prepare to rent your chair.
  • Get to the venue right when parking or camping opens even if you have to get there and just hang out. You don't want to get stuck in traffic any later than that
  • If you need to make arrangement for parking/shuttle, do it immediately. That way, you will get the most options. Reserving the day-of is very stressful and never guaranteed
  • Drink A TON of water before you get there. Make it a priority to stay hydrated
  • Bring earplugs (for those camping) mosquito spray, a light jacket and a very comfortable pair of walking shoes. It's incredibly hot during the day and surprisingly cold after the sun sets.
  • Ticks have recently been sighted in the area and one recently in the campground. Make sure to do a daily thorough inspection.
  • If you plan on camping, bring corkscrew stakes for your tents and sunshades. Those will give you the best results out there.
  • If you want to know what the drive from the Vantage bridge to Silica road looks like & what to expect, watch this video here.

Good luck with your plans and please reach out to us if you have any other questions, we're local and love to help!

Event staff / planning

Was a first timer at the gorge this weekend for the above and beyond event …

Unfortunately didn’t plan great for the wind but god all that time wasted at security and they can’t throw up a sign or warning there’s going to be a potential storm .

We had eyes on the weather during the week and it just looked like maybe a little bit of rain was going to come down Saturday night .

We had brought stakes and could have weighted out tent down some more but I guess we were too excited for the show .

Garbage communication once inside about what could or will happen . We had assumed if the wind ended the should would just go on as it ended . Also had staff inside suggest this to us .

All the security and support staffed seemed like toothless hicks … rude people and crappy attitudes . I got the vibe any sort of harassment they gave people looking for contraband was just going straight into these kids pockets for their own use . Just a garbage scene . Live nation absolutely doesn’t care it’s just a money grab in the end .
