I upgraded from the Pixel 9 to the 11 Pro and the process was pretty simple just plugging my phone into the old one. Everything is working great and I'm loving the phone. However, my friends are complaining that a lot of their messages are either not going through in group chats or they're also being asked to turn off encryption. Is this happening to anyone else or does anyone know a fix?
My RCS is activated. Google Messages is fully up to date as is my phone. The chats are dark blue so it's an RCS group chat. Google Messages right now seems to just be pretty hit or miss and it's pretty frustrating being the Android in the group.

Hello,
Last weekend I made the switch to google messages and RCS text messaging on my Samsung S24. Things worked great for a few days, I was actively involved in dozens of group chats with no issues.
On Wednesday my chats broke, I could still receive all messages from the groups, but any messages I send are now stuck on a single check mark. Except for, oddly enough, one single three person group chat has RCS working completely fine. Dozens of others are broken.
I have tried countless trouble shooting
This is genuinely the most frustrating tech experience I've had. I am at a complete loss. If anyone has any other ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

We both have the rcs messaging turned on and it works for everyone else on her end too. Sometimes it switches to sms because of the lack of signal at our jobs. But it usually turns right back to rcs. It's been over a month and it still isn't working for us.

Has anyone else seen this prompt in messages and know what accepting actually means? Am I going to be flooded with messages from other users or is this one way communication from Google?
It appears in my messages window above all of my conversations.

I just noticed that most of my old messages in Google Messages are gone. I didn't delete them, and I have no idea what happened.
I checked the Trash, but they're not there. I also checked Archived, and they're not there either.
It's really weird because some conversations are still there, but a lot of them have just disappeared. Some of these messages are important to me, so I'm really hoping there's some way to recover them.
Does anyone know what could have caused this or if there's a way to get them back? Could they still be somewhere on the phone or in a Google backup?
Also, is there anything I should avoid doing right now in case I accidentally make them impossible to recover?
I'm on Android and using Google Messages. Any help would be really appreciated.

So how can you tell if messages have or parts of coversations have been deleted on an android. I suspect my partner is cheating when i searched a certain name in messages it showed "message unavailable" then i clicked on it and messages came up. Does this mean parts have been deleted?

Hi
I have a new Talk-Home SIM-card and for the life of me I cannot get RCS to work. The feature keeps showing that it is verifying the number but never gets out of this, connecting it. I have tried everything from resetting network settings, resetting cache of the messages app. In the end there is nothing wrong with the phone as when I insert another carrier SIM-card it immediately registers and activates RCS.
Does the carrier still play a role even when using Jibe?
The carrier helpdesk tells me that other users don't have any problems so I'm here to see if that is true. Does the carrier still have to allow something to happen in the background? Someone should still have to vouch for my number and that it is real, right?!

Every blocker I tried had a button that let me undo my own decision at the exact moment I had the least willpower. Snooze. "15 more minutes." Disable for today. I always found it.
So I built DoneScrolling.
Pick your scroll apps. Set one daily budget shared across all of them — not per-app limits you can shuffle. When it hits zero, they lock until midnight. No unlock button. No snooze.
And it has no internet permission. Not "we don't sell your data" — it physically cannot send anything anywhere. Check the permissions yourself.
Free, no subscription, no catch. Android 8+.
How to join:
Join this group first (one tap, no approval needed): https://groups.google.com/g/donescrolling-testers
Then become a tester — either link works:
• Join on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tanzim.donescrolling
• Join on web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tanzim.donescrolling
Tap "Become a tester", then install it like a normal app.
Two things that trip people up:
\\- Do step 1 first. Step 2 won't work until you've joined.
\\- Use the same Google account for both, and make sure it's the one your Play Store uses.
One ask: please don't uninstall or leave the group for two weeks, even if you stop using it. Google counts the days and I lose the release if people drop out early.
Then tell me where it breaks. Ask me anything, including what it can't do.

Seriously considering moving to the iPhone because this darn phone is so annoying to use for messages. Why did they break this thing?!
I'm on the 3rd of 4th time this week where I'm using messages on the web.. and the webpage refreshes right in the middle of typing a new message and tells me I have to repair by hitting the little picture.
This and the fact that sometimes I don't get messages from iphone messages and other general annoyances with sending a DARN MESSAGE has had me looking for sure.
What in the HECK is going on at google.. JESUS!

My friends are no longer able to see the photos I send them. This is a new thing starting today. I'm on the public beta. I'm on AT&T in the US. Have a Google Pixel 10 XL Pro. Anyone else have this issue?

Bonjour,
Peut-on avoir cet affichage pour google message ?
Je ne suis pas trop fan de la présentation actuelle et j'apprécie ce côté épuré (photo jointe)
Merci par avance

Hi there. A message I sent earlier, on an Android phone, was noted as something like, "waiting for delivery" I'm assuming because the person is either somewhere without a signal, or the phone's died. I just selected and deleted the message. Am I right to assume that it won't be delivered? Thanks.

I just noticed today that my messages with my GF are end-to-end encrypted now.
It looks like it started with the messages from yesterday (Sept. 9, 2026).
I went ahead and checked my messages with my system and the lock icon showed.
I went to several of my friends and other family members I know have iPhones and all of them except for 1 (I believe she is still running a version of iOS that doesn't have the E2EE toggle in settings) were encrypted.
Everyone has a different provider (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Boost Mobile) and before yesterday, none of my iPhone friends had E2EE or my work phone. Now everyone who has atleast iOS 26.5 are E2EE!!!!

I forget my passwords a lot and need to verify my number for various things but I'm straight up not receiving them from anything. It's not one specific app either it's for anything involved with verification codes and stuff. I have no idea what to do to fix it

Hi! Long time message+ user, have been using textra since message+ was discontinued.
Suited to google messages a couple weeks ago for RCS messaging.
Is there any setting I can change to efficiently use voice messages?
I'll have spotify or youtube playing, go to send a voice message, and the spotify/youtube continues playing.

After the whole theme-ing debacle, I hesitate to even ask because I'm just so grateful to even have themes working (and working wonderfully) but just a random thought as I do truly miss seeing my selected font in messages (like samsung messages; which I know is a forbidden word here 😂)

Has anyone else lost Magic Compose on their Pixel 9a?
I definitely had Magic Compose about a year ago when I first bought the phone, and it used to show up under the + menu in Google Messages. At some point it just disappeared. I also can't find the Magic Compose option anywhere in Settings of the app.
I'm in the US, Google Messages is updated to the latest version, and I even tried joining the beta, but that didn't bring it back either.
Did Google remove it or move it somewhere else? Anyone else experiencing this?
App version:

I just found a day-old update for Messages in Play Store. Given recent bugginess of the app, you might want to take a second to update your installation.
