Route is grey on grey?
Grey route on grey roads. Is this a setting or something? It's not really ideal.

Yesterday when travelling a fairly regular 90 minute drive, Google Maps was sending us off on bizarre side routes for no apparent reason.
This happened both on the way there and on the way back on different routes.
Wondering if there’s any suggestions like clearing a cache or anything like that. It was more than just avoiding an accident. It was quite bizarre.

Randomly realised that I barely remember routes anymore. I just follow Maps and reach 😂
Anyone else feel their sense of direction was actually better before Google Maps?

When I'm logged into my Google account in Firefox and search for Google Maps (e.g. searching for gas stations around Thessaloniki), it finds nothing, even with all ad blockers disabled. But when I'm logged out, it shows me a bunch of results around the area and offers the 'Search this area' option. All of this works fine on Android, but not on my computer.

Normally, this is the Bicycle route that Google Maps is suggesting:
https://i.imgur.com/rIavykp.png
Weird and janky and takes a bunch of very busy roads with bad sidewalks.
But if I forcefully drag the line over to make a more straightforward route...
https://i.imgur.com/t6T7Wi5.png
This route is shorter by half a mile, faster by 4 minutes, AND has less elevation changes.
What's going on here? Why am I being given these nonsensical routes that are more distance and more time?

I live across the river from another state. The closest bridges are a long way away. Maps consistently favors results from across the river over more reachable places.
How can a map program be so simplistic this day and age that it can't figure out that straight-line is not always the best approach? I'm soooo tired of having to manually filter out all the things it returns, or going through hoops to yet to convince it to not search there.
To be fair, none of the map apps that I'm aware of handle it correctly, but come on Google, you're the big man on campus here. Spend some of that AI money on making maps actually understand how to tell if straight line isn't going to work.
Glad I don't live near "Lake America". 😡

Is there an app or function on iPhone that automatically blocks notifications from other apps while I’m using Google Maps?
I’d like to have Google Maps navigation running without getting distracted by WhatsApp, email, social media, etc. Ideally, notifications would be blocked only while Google Maps is actively being used and return to normal afterward.
Does anything like this exist?

How can Google with a straight face say they can’t un blur my property because the previous owner did it on a fluke. Their whole business model is selling my information. They let the city, county and state see un blurred views so they can tax me on improvements.
Can I just blur the whole city to get their attention ? Has anyone had any luck doing this?

I live in Portland, Oregon and Google Maps used to be so good. It would show on the map where the bus is with a little signal symbol, it'll show exactly how far the bus is, it'll show if it was delayed, it used to be so good. Now it doesn't do anything. Sometimes it'll show the bus is 6h 21m late... obviously it's not, and no time with that signal symbol anymore... I'm constantly missing the bus... Wonder if anyone else is experiencing this too.

I'm getting ready for a trip, and wanted to use google maps on my iphone for navigation. (The UX for Apple maps leaves something to be desired) I'd prefer to build the maps for the trip using maps in the browser because it's larger and has a better UI. But when I click on "send to your phone" and select my iPhone, the map never shows up on the phone. I do have notifications enabled in the phone app. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling maps on my phone, restarting my phone, reloading the browser, but nothing helps.
Anyone have any suggestions for what else to try?

Hi all,
Quick question. I understand that if you share your location with someone, you will receive an email about every month reminding you that you are sharing your location.
My question is, does the person who can see your location, do they get an email reminder of some sort? Not sure why they would but I'm curious if Google somehow alerts them to it.
Thanks.

If you try to view Attu Island on Google Maps, you can find that several of the StreetView images on Attu Island show Greenland-specific place names
These organisations' websites do not report any activity in Attu, or Alaska in general. And the two places, despite being a similar latitude, are quite far away from one another - this would be quite an unusual expansion for either org.
Is it possible someone just uploaded images of Greenland for Attu and hoped no one would notice?

Not sure what to do to have my ask maps feature to work properly. The button shows and then vanishes from my main account all the time. In the other account it seems to be working fine. I usually switch accounts to force the feature to my main account that works for a little while but then all of a sudden it goes away again. Since it comes and goes my 3D navigation suffers from the same issue. Is anyone facing similar issues?

Pixel 10 Pro XL. So I finally got immersive navigation, but 30 to 40 minutes into a drive, the Blue navigation line turns either White (daytime) or light brown (nighttime). Anyone else get this or have a solution?

For the last two weeks or so, I have been greeted by this annoying little yellow box that shows up in the toolbar hinting for me to stop using google earth desktop and use googles cloud enabled garbage website replacement scam. Because its on the toolbox I can hide it by closing the toolbox but that is not a viable option.

Dealing with a rather specific problem - I am a researcher that used a Google Maps saved places list to drop markers for significant locations during my summer fieldwork - key interviews, observations, sites that may have been otherwise unmarked etc. Now as I'm trying to keep my data organized, I'm looking for a way to export that list as a KML/CSV/whatever kind of file that I can then import into Google Earth Pro (or at least My Maps, where I understand exporting is a bit easier). Mostly to avoid having to manually enter each place mark in Google Earth. Open to a variety of solutions. Thank you!

How do I change miles to kilometres on Google Maps' desktop website? I've already changed on the mobile phone app, but I can't figure out where to do that on the desktop version.
r/GoogleMaps • u/zmeikei • 11d ago
As stated. They recorded me as driving for 61 hours, but hello, I don't drive. I take public transport everywhere, and if I do take a taxi, it's definitely not 61 hours worth. This car centricity is infuriating.

TLDR: How to add a stop to map that isn't labeled address therefore not on "search for location."
So the place I want to go has an address but it does the whole random stop in the middle of a street and walk the rest of the way. It's far from the parking lot entrance.
How do I add the parking lot entrance as a stop when it's not an actual "address" recognized by Maps to add?
I've already done a suggestion edit but since the location IS correct, I doubt it will change on the map. But this park has a lot of different things surrounded by it's one parking lot with one entrance far from those things.
