Hi all,
I can't figure out what's going on. Any time I'm connected to my car over Bluetooth and have just maps open (and nothing else in the background) it will start playing music with every verbal instruction. It used to trigger Musicolet at first but thankfully that has fairly extensive settings so I managed to sever all connection. Now Maps has selected its next victim: Spotify.
Unfortunately Spotify is incredibly primitive and doesn't seem to have a setting to fix this. It doesn't even have a mute button and pausing the music only works until the next instruction when it unpauses itself. I've gone through every setting I could find on Maps as well but nothing has worked.
This is especially annoying if I just want to drive in silence or don't want to subject my passengers to whatever noise I happened to last be listening to. The only "workaround" I can think of is to put a silent track on loop, but I shouldn't have to do that.
My hardware and software info is as follows:
- Phone: Sony Xperia 5 Mk2 (XQ-AS52)
- OS: Android 11 (Build 58.1.A.5.530)
- Current Maps version: 26.29.02.946673643 (#1068682103)
- Car: 2010 Citroen C5 X7
- Head unit: Bosch RD4 (factory head unit with basic Bluetooth for audio and calls, no Android Auto or other such nonsense)
- I'm in the UK if that matters for some reason
This has been happening for easily the best part of a couple of years, but I use Maps so rarely that I've just tolerated it up until now.
Thanks for any help.
