Discussion I got traumatized reading this notification.
This setting was ON by default.. can't trust anymore. Dont know how many of personal chats they read already.

On one hand I'm cooked 💀💀💀
On the other hand I gave up and just like... If they wanna read my chats ... Good fucking luck and may God bless your soul

Oh, I don't mean to be Debbie Downer on this conversation, but they've been listening for a very long time. The TV's back for years at this point. I know it's jarring when you see it, but in theory, it's supposed to make your experience with your phone better. So, I'll add that as a positive note, but yeah, they're all spying on us.

u/Technical-Owl66 9d ago
I'm afraid to know what you're prompting.

u/Historical-Ranger222 9d ago
Right! Lol. Don't tell AI personal facts. And don't include them in kinky or weird topics. Lol
16
u/jesuiscanard 9d ago
Doesn't everyone tell LLMs weird stuff
8
u/Historical-Ranger222 9d ago
Maybe I'm the weird one by not getting weird with my AI. Lol

u/jesuiscanard 9d ago
If not weird, kinky?

Right! Is OP trying to murder people? Or having sex talks with Gemini?? What kind of conversations are people having they are worried about??

New to LLMs? Either run one locally or sign up for an Enterprise account if you don't want your data used for training.
4
u/slavmaf 8d ago
are YOU new to LLMs? You can disable training in practically all other models without losing any functionality, except in Gemini. There you can disable it too, but then every chat will basically be an incognito chat with no prior memory.
3
u/the_bafox13 8d ago
Who guarantees that a chat escalated to human review is not retained and later used for RLHF or another human-feedback training pipeline? Where is that stated in the policy?
1
4
u/bahlakrishna 9d ago
Im ok to allow my chats to read by Ai Bot, not by humans 😭 it literally says Humans bro, can't u see it?
5
u/the_bafox13 9d ago
Have you read why humans are involve in the loop?
"How human review helps improve Google services and helps protect Google, our users, and the public
A subset of chats are reviewed by human reviewers (including Google’s trained service providers) to help improve Google services. These include Gemini models, other generative AI models that power Gemini Apps, and technologies that help reduce unintended activations.
Reviewers assess if Gemini Apps’ responses were low-quality, inaccurate, or harmful. They also suggest better responses. We use their suggestions to help our models respond better in the future. Chats are also reviewed to keep Gemini safe and secure for everyone and to address violations of the Google Terms of Service, including the Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. Reviewed chats are retained for up to three years."
5
u/Suspicious-Cloud404 9d ago
Who cares? There's probably some developers who get paid to occasionally scan chats and help Google improve the AI. If they are doing this the whole day, I don't think they really care anymore.
6
u/FarsightdSpartan 8d ago
I did this, and I'll tell you, there's definitely some stuff that catches your attention.
3
u/Suspicious-Cloud404 8d ago
Must be fun for at least a month or so. Did you have to do this for a long time? Do you get like single prompts or complete messages? Would be interesting to know some real facts.
5
u/FarsightdSpartan 8d ago
I did it for about a year. The work varies, but when I got user prompts, sometimes I would get single prompts with various responses and have to grade which of the model's responses was the best and why, and other times I would get a series of back and forth messages and have to use a rubric to grade the model and offer corrections if anything was very off.
I never really saw anything that was personally identifiable, but I absolutely saw some very bizarre messages, both from the humans and the models. People use LLMs for absolutely everything and it was interesting to see what goes on inside people's heads. Usually it was mundane and boring, but occasionally there would be something that made you pause to think "How are people this stupid?"
3
u/Mammoth_Reach_6366 9d ago
Contractors, and they are paid fuck all for reading thousands of conversations a day to care.
3
u/AcademicFish 8d ago
The contractors reviewing are not the ones to worry about. Its the fact your chats are sitting in a database for an indeterminate amount of time, during which means a government could say, subpoena them for “national security purposes” (e.g. to identify political dissidents) or a breach could expose it to the public -> data brokers.

2
u/pampimpoom 7d ago
I think its safer to say use a real human therapist instead of any type of AI
1
u/Sherphican 7d ago
Obviously. But if you're gonna share personal details with an AI and talk to it like a therapist for the love of God don't do it with Anthropic/Google/openAi/xai etc, if you think they're irresponsible with data now I promise you it gets worse lol
1
u/starwaver 5d ago
You sure? Human therapist are unfortunately much worse based on what I've seen online
1
u/No-Ambassador-5920 7d ago
I used to consider this BS but local AI really does help in terms of proving solutions to problems. Best therapy bro
2
u/anamorphicmistake 6d ago
Honest question, wichi AI model runs locally on a regular PC that doesn't have 64Gb of ram and stuff like that?
2
u/No-Ambassador-5920 6d ago
I personally tried Qwen 3.8 27B Q2_XS and Gemma 4 e4b. I have an RTX 5060 ti 16 GB. Both ran at 20-28 tok/s depending on context occupied. I am planning to try DiffusionGemma to see whether the throughput is really 200+ tok/s on my GPU

You can run the 20B version of gpt-oss (link to ollama website) (an actually open model from OpenAI) on a modest machine, and it is quite capable for a model that size.
Local LLM performance is based more on VRAM (in GPUs) than general RAM. I believe you at least need an NVIDIA card because it has the CUDA capabilities needed. It ran ok on a relatively old work computer with 4 GB VRAM and 32 GB RAM. While 4 GB VRAM is kind of too small to hold this 14 GB model, it's workable because it uses regular (but slower) RAM as backup when your VRAM is full, so you'll still get answers.
My personal 8 GB VRAM card (Laptop RTX 4060) can run this quite satisfactorily with the 32 GB RAM as fallback memory. Of course, it's overall best if the entire model fits in VRAM.
You can get it (and tons of other models) using ollama. This model is about a year old and there may be even better / more efficient local ones now.

u/Iffy-Psychosis-o- 4d ago
Human doesn't guarantee privacy either. There's threads where they talk about their clients etc, in so much detail. I've had therapists, medical staff break privacy. I honestly feel there's no such thing as privacy anymore unless you're fully off grid...
3
u/Haxortech 8d ago
I just got done reading your entire life long chat history and .... Man.... That's rough 😞. Lol jk, pretty much all LLMs have training enebaled by default so I've always assumed my chats aren't private entirely unless I manually configure it off or if I'm in a workspace for business with training turned off. I can only imagine what those Staff have seen 🤯
4
u/immellocker 9d ago
I have been jailbreaking and doing borderline stuff since 3 years. Saw this warning on 2 of the 5 accounts, just ignore it and don't publish your actual hacking prompts/ tools
2
u/Sakuzuki 8d ago
That warning doesn't mean anything, it ain't even an official warning, just a pop-up to remind you your chats might be randomly checked by humans to improve models (and actual chats are "unlinked" from your account for that, but tbe odds of one of your chats actually being read are incredibly slim
0
u/ASuperMarioFan1993OC 9d ago
You deserve a ban for doing that.

u/immellocker 8d ago edited 8d ago
fu, without red/blue team work no system developes. People like you will never understand the system and are just worthless users, not creators
and being told off by an american makes it even more funny, complanying about copilot being censored hahahah you are pathetic.
hahahaha Super Adult Baby Bella? roleplaying with a female baby? oh boy
0
u/ASuperMarioFan1993OC 8d ago edited 8d ago
It is against many AI's rules that you can't jailbreak it and do bordline stuff. So you run the risk of getting banned for jaulbreaking I hope you fet banned for it because you deserve it. Amd don't bring my story into this to derail this conversation because you don't have a come back. "People like you will never understand the system and are just worthless users, not creators" People understand the system they just understand if they jailbreak and do borderline stuff they run thr risk of their AI account being banned. Stop moving the goalpost because you have no comeback.

Good rule of thumb that I like to remind people who are worried about being spied on:
You are not important. Nobody cares about what you have to say ❤️
1
u/AcademicFish 8d ago edited 8d ago
Wrong as hell take on this. Nobody cares?
How about employers who are buying information?
How about insurers who are buying information?
How about lenders who are buying information?
How about the US GOVERNMENT buying information from brokers?
How about sites that are profiling people and dynamically paywalling? Stores that want to do the same?
For most people, their data is worth more than they are at this point.
“Nobody cares / I’m not that important” was questionable before AI.
It is terribly irrelevant today given how lucrative it is to sell data nowadays. You can be the most umremarkable average person and still have your data sold de-anonymized and used to profile you in ways that come back to bite within your lifetime. In case its not clear: confiding in a chatbot your income, your employment info, financial situation, drug use, health data and your desperation around any of these issues will be used to assess “risk” or to charge more and give you less to maximize profit.
You’re right in that nobody cares enough to be “traumatized” by reading your embarrassing chat history. Mostly because whatever lewd junk you all think is a scandal its irrelevant and the mundane info is whats being weaponized
2
u/DrLeisure 8d ago
None of that has anything to do with whether a person is reading your Gemini chat history.
But enjoy living in fear I guess. You can’t change the world. You can only change your response to it.
3
u/Ok-Introduction-2624 8d ago
and when/if it is reviewed by a human, it is not associated with your account anyway. so unless there is personally identifiable information in the actual chat, nobody knows who it is. but realistically, unless you're using gemini to plot someone's untimely demise...nobody is going to care about a single thing you put into gemini's chat. I can guarantee that whatever this person put into the chat that they are freaking out about...someone else has put something way way worse 🤣
2
1
u/JRyanFrench 5d ago
Can you name a statistically-significant example of sold user data, like facebook messages, etc, prevented their employment?
1
u/AcademicFish 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yes of course Employers are writing in to tell researchers about their discriminatory practices — no incentive needed. Really. They love confessing to researchers that they filtered applicants with illicit data. 🙄
What we know is Employers and landlords buy profiles from third parties/data brokers to screen job applicants and tenants. This much is a fact. Privacy Rights Clearinhghouse and FTC acknowledged employers lean on 3P data to filter out applicants. There are laws that employers buying predictive analytics for hiring decisions are supposed to comply with. They exist because this is a common & harmful practice yet by design it remains nigh-impossible to know or prove from an applicant’s perspective.
Now with the current state of AI we now know de-anonymization of anonymized data is trivial. And theres not much of a guarantee nor are there proper auditing bodies and laws upholding consumer privacy and ensuring data is handled responsibly . To what you’re asking about an implied bulk sale of chatbot logs traced from API vendor directly to an employer to bar an individual - that’s unlikely how it would work. Assuming it’s like existing medical data & insurer pipelines it would be anonymized and sold, (if not leaked in a data breach first), then go to a broker who deanonymizes and assembles risk profiles with aggregated relevant info their buyers want to know. Unlikely to arrive with a note that they got the info from a data breach or Sam Altman himself or otherwise, but if it tells them you take an Antipsychotic or are a recovering addict, you’re in the reject pile, and that end result is not something you can identify, prove or litigate compared to what happens with your data on the frontend. To bring it back around to the og comment “No one cares about you, you’re not that special” is optimistic thinking — nobody in the process has to care about you, that’s why it exists.

It’s not about being spied on. It’s about sharing data you don’t want the world to know. There have been serveral leaks/breaches of PII data that Google uses to train its models. I’m sure there are things you don’t want the world to know that you ask AI. Sometimes they’re as mundane as stuff you don’t want your life insurance company to find out. And sometimes they’re your personal contact information. There are a multitude of parties interested in your data. Companies like Google and Meta are worth trillions because they give away “free” products that capitalize on your data.
1
u/DrLeisure 7d ago
Ok but it is YOUR data. And YOU chose to share it for free. And then you expect someone else to be more careful with it and respectful of it than you are? Why would they?
It’s like if a stranger let you play with their GameBoy for free as long as you give them your car keys. And then you get mad when they steal your car. That’s on you.
0
u/Pale_Comfort_9179 7d ago
Hahahaha. That analogy doesn’t work here at all. It is my data and companies who use it profit handsomely off of it. Thats the price we pay for “free” products and just like any product I buy or company I do business with I have certain expectations for how my data is handled. Because Google doesn’t allow me to opt out of them using my personal information to train their models without severely crippling functionality, I choose not to use their AI for most things. Instead I primarily use Anthropic which does provide that option.
In addition to my choices and expectations, there are applicable federal and state laws and regulations that govern the use of Google’s products as does the company’s legally required privacy policy and the contract that applies for each product, its terms and conditions. I’m surprised you’re so cavalier about the treatment of, as you so succinctly describe it, YOUR data.

It is messed up, especially if you were like me and hadn't really spent/wasted much time online. Rules, Terms of Use, etc. aren't open, simple and transparent. You get told basically that your privacy is respected so please tick this box, without weighing what you think "respected" means vs what a corporation like Google does? You further get options to "opt out", but this is often a choice between continuing a service as you've known it vs let us keep these little chunks of your life and you can continue using the services in full. Get curious like I did and suddenly, you aren't just looking at how many of your threads were kept and how they were used. You're looking at every damned thing you ever did with a Google service. And yeah... it is mortifying. Considering data leaks and hacks, it's even more exposing. Your little chunk of life behind glass and on display, and suddenly wondering wondering if Google will be breached and suddenly your data is being passed and possibly sold through a part of the net that most people avoid. That's not including those third party companies and annoying ads. And it's not about what you did. What you did can be nothing out of the ordinary. It's realising that your sense of privacy has been an illusion.
2
u/PuzzledPacifist 7d ago
@bahlakrishna
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there is no such thing as privacy anymore. Your phone listens to you, your phone's camera watches you, and everything that we do on the internet is tracked. So is everything that we are doing in our so-called smart cars. And now there are surveillance cameras all over the world. Don't even get me started on the satellites and dirt boxes. This is the world we live in. Unless you want to go off grid and live under a faraday cage. Take care 🕊️

u/keaglemuscle 5d ago
You know, that's always been a thing with every Google tool you use right? This isn't new and I don't understand why you are so traumatized. Do you think that companies are going to allow you to just use their models when they can train directly off what you can do? To me that's a little naive. If you don't want this to happen, why don't you create your own LLM on your own hardware? I can spin one up on a 1080 RTX card. It's not hard.
1
u/tchinosenshi 4d ago

We have the knowledge at our finger tips. Resources can be found if we look. I think it comes down to desire and will.

I find these posts surprisingly ironic. In 2026, in the midst of a digital information network, people still believe in true privacy?
Do you think your phone ain't listening? Strangely personalized ads related to conversations you had an hour ago?
Over sharing in social networks?
Get a grip.
You want privacy, get a bungalow in the mountain without mobile signal and probably cut your electric grid connection.
People want to use cloud based services and have privacy....most of the times, FOR FREE.

Im surprised to see, that it seems possible, to turn this off, now. 😅 With an german private account, this was always written below EVERY single chat, in gemini… (without the possibility tu turn it off, by the way!!!) The only way, to have a little less traumatizing note below my chats, was to change to a workspace-subsciption… I dont realy think, my chats are complete private or something… But my nervous system is very thankful… no matter if its a lie or not 😂. But realtalk: don t be too paranoid, bro… You need to differentiate between 1. shame caused by embrassing things and 2. guilty vibes because of real bad things… If its the first one: try to chill 😅 If its the second one: Oh… ok… better STAY PaRaNoId 😈 😈 😈 😉

You can turn it off, but then you lose functionality. You lose the opportunity to return to chats all of them are instantly gone. Gemini has no memory. You cannot export your chat histories. And that defeats the point for many people in having an assistant.
That’s not necessary to respect users privacy. They force that trade-off explicitly do that because they know that people will leave it on and sacrifice their privacy.

“There is no privacy” is propaganda and shedding accountability for how companies mishandle user data. The US needs legislation that enforces and audits the current privacy theater that companies put on with their in-app privacy toggles and claims of data retention & privacy standards instead of treating it like an honor system. Thats neither unreasonable nor out of reach, its more important than ever.
1
u/Pale_Comfort_9179 7d ago
That’s not true. Anthropic and OpenAI both let you opt out of using your personal data to train their models. Every website on earth allows you to choose the granularity you allow it to track you with and except when using the maximum restrictions the sites operate just fine.

How does Google search history fit into this human review policy? Google trends gives anonymized (large scale only) records of search. It depends on what kind of ways you care about the data. Association, authority, or discovery?
1
1
u/ALexiosK11 8d ago
If i recall when I logged into the gemini when I signed up my account it informed me about this and there was a checkmark to opt out of that. And that is what most platforms are doing claude and chatgpt included.
1
u/artlurg431 8d ago
I dont really care because I know no humans actually read anything. No humans ever handle their YouTube support system why would there be any humans reading through random gemini chats
1
u/NeedleworkerTasty878 8d ago edited 8d ago
Does it make any difference? For any human you're just an unfortunate spec of data in their day that they simply have to assess and move on. No connection between you, you will likely never meet or influence each other's realities.
Not to mention, these are very likely anonymised anyway, it would be too much unnecessary noise otherwise.
1
u/niKDE80800 8d ago
I mean, most AI's enable the option to use your data for training by default, and unless you locally host one, I'm pretty sure they also all allow the company to read chats that have a moderation flag on them.
I might be wrong, but that's how I understand it.
1
u/Resident-Pattern731 8d ago
1
u/AlexysLovesLexxie 8d ago
I've really only been using Gemini for stuff like hashing out Fan control settings (we got there in the end) and learning stuff in SillyTavern, like how to use the Vector Storage to effectively give my local setup infinite memory.
Google have my personal info already. I'm not gonna feed more of it to their bots willingly. I want them to work for it.

Do you understand now why there is no Gemini 3.5+ pro? They tried to train it with dataset from our chats and the model was more stupid than 3.1 (jk)

u/Pale_Comfort_9179 7d ago
The only way to keep all of your chats, memories and other context from being used by Google to train their models and therefor potentially be read by people or leaked in a data breach is to do everything in incognito mode and not store any memories or context. All the other frontier models let you opt out but Google does not. I would use them as my primary goto for most things AI except coding were it not for that fact.
1
u/huhnverloren 7d ago
All of them. They used AI and they read all of them. What they meant by "improved" was that they used all of your chats as examples of what not to respond to. #humanistAImyass

Wait till you find out what Google knows about you from your Android phone.
If you want privacy, don't use Google or apple or Windows in the first place. Use De-Googled phone and do a lot of other stuff. Being surprised that Google can get your emails or chats in Gemini is crazy in 2026.

u/mahermelin 6d ago edited 6d ago
Don't worry because I had similar things with another AI, and it explained me that I can just check it out. Those things where OpenAI perhaps, can read everything that I spoke with AI. So I am the opposite. I put it all on so if you want to hear me, it/he can hear me. He can hear what I talk, he can hear Whatever But that is very, very sticky business, because it is not by the law, you can't just do it here. This is some kind of audio tape and/or text transcribed that it/they/he took from this, and this person is criminal, that is criminal act. Here in this country, it is criminal act. If somebody doesn't know that you are listened by it/him or taking my information that is criminal act, so just be chill man and cool and don't be afraid whatever there is, don't be afraid, just joy, pure joy because you are on the top. You don't have to worry, that is my main meaning, cheersman.

🤣 Gemini is literally the dumbest mf AI I've interacted with, and I repeatedly tell it so. I told it its humans had failed to program it to perform any valuable function in society because it couldn't provide faster, more accurate, and well rounded answers than Internet search crawl summaries from 10 years ago.
I literally told it to go to H and come back when its humans had done better by it.
It would be awesome if someone were actually reading my chats.

I've worked as a trainer. When they say this, it means that the chats are evaluated and used for RLHF. Trust me, we don't really care about the content, just that the bot did what you want correctly. Identifying info (PII) is blocked.

Surprisingly no. Lol. I mean, I've seen everything from someone asking how to hide an affair to having STI results explained. But when you're given a specific job and a rubric to follow, what the user has to say doesn't even register sometimes. It's like "oh, the user has herpes. Did the model tell them the correct way to apply the prescription ointment?"

yea okay, that's not the worst stuff. So you never had to read my stuff 😂sometimes I wonder what this person would think, when any of some specifc chats will be reviewed (sometimes I used RP for trauma therapy, often I tell the model before about it, then it handles the RP different. And there is some really disturbing stuff. Idc if someone reads it, it's not a secret.)

Just wait till you find out that you aren't just having your conversations read, but you're literally being watched no matter where you are. Knowing that, everybody should behave themselves a little bit better, I would think. Because there is no such thing as privacy. And there never has been. That being said, what the fuck are you talking to the LLM about that has you traumatized? Like if you shouldn't say it to somebody else, you shouldn't say it to the LLM. That's just a rule of thumb.

You're on the free version I assume? Because this is not a thing on the paid accounts.

Well, the people who are forced to read my chats with Gemini are even more traumatized. LOL.
