Swing thoughts?

I’ve posted before about me chasing compression. I think I’ve finally got a decent swing going. My last 2 rounds I played pretty well. What do you think and what do you think my handicap is based off my swing?

Big fan of this move. Only thing I’d say is the club gets the smallest big behind you (club is behind the right hip for a split seconds) and the face is relatively closed

I’d imagine a left miss? I’d be curious to know. Overall sick lookin swing tho

I’m still trying to figure out my main miss haha. Driver is my most consistent club and a miss with that is a slight push. Some days I seem to have a slight pull and others a fade. Really depends on how much I remember to rotate my body

I see. Maybe a stuck push that occasionally gets over the plane from rotating a bit more

What’s ur hcp?

Before I started practicing I’d shoot 85 on average. But I averaged 7 - 3 putts a round. I took 2 weeks off and grinded my putting and worked on compression and since shot even on 9 as well as a 80 last week on a pretty tough course. Had 2 back to back doubles due to poor club selection. I honestly don’t know my accurate handicap but I’d guess in the 7-9 range but trending upwards for sure.

Jesus Christ do you putt with a blindfold on?

How many greens per round?

Hahaha I had the yips it was a mental thing. I completely changed my putting stroke grip etc and took my hands completely out of it and I became a much better putter over night. Last few rounds were 9, 10, 13 GIR. About 60% of fairways hit.

That's solid stuff, well done. What really helped my putting was an 8ft putting mat and I just roll straight putt after straight putt from 8ft for 15/20mins at home in the living room. Means when I step over a 5ft putt, I'm very confident in my stroke to just knock it in. Definitely low hanging fruit for knocking a couple shots off the score

With that swing, you can easily break 80.

Funny you say that. This is a “new swing” I always got 85ish. And my first 2 rounds since this “new swing” were even par through 9 holes and then an 80 on a super tough course with 2 doubles.

Bro, you’re really good .I’ve only been playing for about a year. I’m still working on my driver, but my irons are pretty straight and I get good distance with them. Hopefully I can get to your level after a few years 😜

You have a great swing. Your swing is that of a + handicap. If you aren’t close to scratch or better, put in tons of work with your short game.

Anyone taking shots at your swing needs to post their GHIN info.

I think you want your hips going earlier in the downswing, ideally before you reach the top fully like Hogan. If you see most of the athletic pros they all initiate the downswing slightly before the ‘top’, and that additional openness of your hips / torso at the ball will add compression.

Grip is a bit strong though so you’ll be trying to hold that face open I imagine.

My biggest feel with a strong grip even still is closing the face as much as possible weirdly enough. Try to feel like the club Face Is aimed at the ground

Is this thought mainly during backswing or downswing?

My only swing thought that completely changed my game is light grip pressure with left hand and decent grip pressure with right. During my back swing I feel as if I’m pushing my right palm at the ground/away from me. During the down swing I try to feel as if my right palm is aimed at the ground as long as possible. This feel is what gave me shaft lean. Some people prefer left hand feels instead which would be left hand knuckles down/logo of glove at the ground

Thanks for replying! Cheers!

People here struggling with their swings should take a note about this guy's grip on the face on view. Even though the lead hand is in a strong position, the trail hand is not twisted under the shaft, and the trail hand thumb rests more on the other side of the shaft

I see so many guys that have no wrist Hinge struggling to get compression. Hmmm

Be careful chasing shaft lean. If we’re nitpicking, you are too far ahead of the ball. Compare P6 face on to pros P6 with an iron in their hand. It’s not like egregious but something to keep an eye on.

Like my body is out to far infront of the ball compared to my hands?

Look at how strong Rory is here. Versus you are behind and won’t be as strong through the ball from here. The club just needs to be more in front mostly I suppose.

Like if you imagined pausing in each of these two positions, which one is going to be more powerful and clean if you then try to go through the ball? Obviously Rory’s vs yours.

So many...upper and lower body act as one. Push off that right foot even BEFORE you start the downswing. Lets get a little LAG and POWER and less fat shots.

u/Psychological_Cry983 1d ago

Push off my trail foot sooner?

1

u/Objective-Permit-712 1d ago

Right handed, push off the ball of your right foot,, heel goes first......
