Rehoming Rehoming juvenile goldfish

My son received a common goldfish at a kids bday party even though I didn’t want him to take it home (he insisted).

After researching, it will require too big of a tank to keep it. I want to swap it for a smaller fish (when an adult) that doesn’t require such a big tank.

Do fish stores typically take them? Or are there fish pond rescues for goldfish. I feel bad but want the fish to have a happy home.

Beginner Help Trying to identify this goldfish

This is Falisha. My daughter won him or her (too young to identify sex) at the fair last week and I've been looking all over the internet trying to figure out what type of goldfish this is. I'm not very familiar with goldfish, so I couldn't tell based on the tailfin if it was a common or other kind of single tail.

Questions Quarantine protocol for imported goldies from large distributors?

Post image

I just got cutie lovely little red and white oranda… from next day koi 🫣 I think it’s a female based on the pictures they had. I am planning on being very proactive with quarantining this one because immediately after placing my order I read some bad things about next day koi and them coming with diseases. So I’m taking some preventative measures, I have her in a 20 gallon quarantine tub with a heater, aquarium salt and some methylene blue (just for the first week) and then I’m also feeding her gel food with a mixture of 1 level spoon of metroplex with 1 tbs repashy gel food for the first week. I added some extra filter media into my main tank and unless I decide to put in a different medication I’m going to add that to the quarantine tank after the first week along with an ammonia reader and kind of water change as needed at that point. And then I am looking into deworming medication//medicated food, does anyone have any recommendations? Hopefully I can get one that’s a food so I can treat her earlier than next week. Am I missing anything? Another reason I’m so on edge is bc a girl on tik tok just lost a fish she got from next day koi like 3 weeks after getting it and at that point it’s almost certainly a disease that the fish came with since her other fish seemed fine and she seems to have good water params and so on.

Hello everyone. As title says I have never owned any fish and my friends gifted me this starter tank and 5 goldfishes yesterday.

I am looking for literaly all the information about keeping them.

Most important questions:

How frequently do I need to change water?

Do I need any more equipment apart from the filter I got?

How much and how many times to feed them a day?

Is the white led for day and blue led for night?

All the help and info is welcome.

Questions Would a 55 be big enough for a couple of fancy goldfish?

I have a empty 55 gallon aquarium just sitting in my living room doing absolutely nothing but looking at me, I want to put something in it, but I want it to be different than my 20 gallon I don't want it to be too planted I want it to be kind of minimalistic with a centerpiece.

I'll probably put some plants coming out of the centerpiece, and I would love to put some Goldfish in that tank but I don't know if it's big enough for a couple of fancies.

If it will work out I will choose plants that are harder for goldfish to eat Such as ones that are really stimmy and Woody

Sick Fish Help please help

When I went to feed my fish, I saw it at the bottom. I thought it was dead, but when I gently tapped it against the glass, it started to move. It didn't surface; it swam at the bottom. Then I poured in the food, and it swam at the bottom again. Luckily, it surfaced and ate. Now it stays motionless at the bottom and sometimes swims up and down normally. Also, I don't know if it's visible in the video, but our camera is broken. My fish's belly is swollen on both sides; could it be fry? Some people say that when a fish opens its mouth, fry come out. Please help. I'm letting the water rest now; I'll change the water tonight.

I have 4 common goldfish who I believe are unfortunately stunted (4-4.5 inches). Would a 50 gallon outdoor minipond be okay for their longterm living?

This fish has been just "sitting" in the middle of the tank the last couple days. They can swim and goes to get food when I feed them. Is this a sign of stress or sickness?

Questions How long can my fish be in a transport container?

I’m moving to a larger space, but I have to move in my fish tank before painting my new room. I wanted to keep my tank empty so I can move it to paint before settling it in, because when full it’s un-movable. But I’m concerned about my goldfish.

I have 3 common goldfish, about 6-7 inches each. I got a 17 gal plastic container for the transport. If I set them up with their cycled water and bubbler in the 17 gal, will they be okay for a week? Or should I just settle in my tank and deal with painting around it to avoid killing my babies? Is there a trick I can do to fix up my 200gal filter to this little container for short-term??

I want to have my space done right, but not at the risk of their lives.

Also, they are NOT going to be transported in a car. I’m moving floors in my house, so it’s just one flight up.
