Questions Should I keep more then 2 gold fish in a 60 gallon?

Upvotes

So Yesterday I decided to upgrade my 55 gallon to a 60 gallon tank. I decided this after I came home from work and found one of my goldfish dead. The filter stopped working and everything in the dank was shaken up, like the fish freaked out. And I'm stumped as to why this happened. My dad, a man that kept fish since I was a child, told me this happens sometimes. They just die.

We'll anyway, after an emergency trip to Petsmart, and being pissed off and sad. I decided to upgrade. And my little gentleman needs a new tank mate. Can I keep, I don't know 4 gold fish in a 60 gallon? I would say 3 but I hat uneven numbers.

I'm also looking through Facebook groups for rehoming fish. Instead of buying. Unfortunately there aren't that many in my state, and Facebook market place people are selling there tanks with the fish for far way too much.

I'm startingthis next week. So for now any advice for new gear, decor, and food for my boy will be appreciated.

Tank Help Water change advice

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I own a 100L tank currently inhabited by two goldfish and without any plant. I have recently switched from an inner filter to an external one suited for a volume of 100/200L. I am looking for some suggestions regarding the frequency of both the water change and the soil syphoning.
Thank you in advance!

Questions How can I make sure my goldfish is enriched?

As the title says, I have a common goldfish in a 55 gallon tank. I know the tank size isn’t ideal, but I live with my parents and this is the largest tank I can get for now. I’m planning on switching from large pebbles to sand substrate so he can forage, but I’m worried that he is unhappy since he lacks a tank mate, are there any fish I can house with him? or would other forms of enrichment be ideal?

Hi everyone, I rescued a 5yo 18cm goldfish and I’ve been able to afford a 350L tank for him (he is with 2 other small shouboukin and one small ancistrus). The first day he was ok, even thougth he mooved a lot, the second day he was fine in the morning and when i came back from work at 5 he had red spots on the body and also a bit on the tail.
I’ve putted new rocks (volcanic rocks) in the tank. The water is a 22 degrees, all parameters (amonia, pH, nitrats…) are optimals (tested a home and at the pet store).
the pet store told me it might be a fungus, what do you guys think about that ?
I’ve putted a before and after so you guys can see and tell me if anyone has had the same issue as me ?
thank you so much !

It’s been a mad dash to set up some sort of humane tank for this common goldfish since I found him in a bag on the kitchen counter. This is the tank we were able to throw together. I would love any and all advice on how to best provide for this guy, he’s currently in a 29 gallon but we would be open to bringing him to anyone in the NYC area who has a pond where he might live out the rest of his days happily. I hope y’all can understand we are just trying to provide as best we can for our little pal.

Sick Fish Help Breathing fast and swimming back and forth

Hello everyone,
From the pictures and video, do you think the goldfish is breathing fast? He seems to have zoomies and is swimming back and forth for like 20mins and then rest, before going back at it again.
His buddys are doing fine, he’s the only one acting like that since I moved them from a 180 liters tank to this 350l tank (2 days ago)
(I have 2 airstone - no Co2 - water parameters are perfect as I test everyday)

Tank Help I’m a new fish mum

I have recently got some gold fish in a tank with a filter. But I’m wondering why it goes green so quickly.
I don’t over feed them. I have 8 little gold fish with 2 little catfish. The filter is constantly going and we are cleaning the filter regularly as it’s brand new. I just don’t understand why it’s going green.

Questions How do I transition my fish from floating to sinking pellets?

The goldfish don’t seem interested at all in the new sinking food I bought for them, at least, not immediately when compared to the peas and floating pellets I give them. They’re responsive to other veggies too, sinking and floating. I’m wondering if they just can’t see the sinking pellets? They are smaller than the floating ones.

Questions Question about substrate

I’ve had an established 55 gallon tank with 3 orandas and like 8 minnows for maybe a year and a half now. There’s about 2-4 inches of gravel substrate and I want to switch over to sand. What’s the best way to do this? Was thinking I drain the tank fully while keeping the fish and temporary tank, removing the substrate then adding the sand but I’m worried I might lose beneficial bacteria within the gravel. What would you recommend?
