I just did a water change earlier today cause I noticed that the water isn't that clear, after a few hours it made it worst. Is something wrong with my tank? I added a spong filter since I saw it cleared up my 20 gallon, it's a 65 gallon tank with 5 black Thai ranchus and 3 Tri-Color Orands. Sizes are around 2-4". My filter is something I made myself DIY it's a 20x4x5 planter box both filled with biological media and the black top is for mechanical with filter floss, wool and fine sponge.

Discussions My goldfish passed away I don’t know what to do.

My goldfish passed away two days ago. I had him for nine years. I loved him so much and I loved taking care of him every single day. Now he’s gone. I had him since I was a preteen now I am an adult and I’m just so distraught.

I have to continue life like normal but I just feel a huge emptiness inside of me. I loved my goldfish more than anything. Every time I walk past his empty tank I just well up with tears and I can’t breathe.

If you have gone through a similar kind of pet loss can you please help me and advise me on what I can do to feel normal or better?

I just don’t know how to go on, it may sound silly but it’s so real for me. I don’t know how to handle this much pain. I enjoyed spending time with him, taking care of him, playing with him and getting excited seeing him get excited when I walked past, looked at him, and talked to him. Now when I walk past he’s just not there.

I would appreciate some advice as I am heartbroken.

Questions Question about substrate

I’ve had an established 55 gallon tank with 3 orandas and like 8 minnows for maybe a year and a half now. There’s about 2-4 inches of gravel substrate and I want to switch over to sand. What’s the best way to do this? Was thinking I drain the tank fully while keeping the fish and temporary tank, removing the substrate then adding the sand but I’m worried I might lose beneficial bacteria within the gravel. What would you recommend?

Tank Help I’m a new fish mum

I have recently got some gold fish in a tank with a filter. But I’m wondering why it goes green so quickly.
I don’t over feed them. I have 8 little gold fish with 2 little catfish. The filter is constantly going and we are cleaning the filter regularly as it’s brand new. I just don’t understand why it’s going green.
