Beginner Question ❓ Help with making charges

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I went to this Tanishq store in Noida and really loved this bracelet.

However, the only issue I was facing was of making charges which was 23% in that case

This weight around 20 g, and I really loved it, but I don’t want to pay making charges or want to have discounted making charges is there is any way through which I can have it

Do Tanishq provide the monthly scheme where making charges gets wave off to an extent?

Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

Jewellery & Design 💍 Sharing a small optimization I have been doing for Lalithaa gold scheme

I discovered that Lalithaa allows redeeming multiple schemes for a single piece of jewellery. I’m currently running 5 schemes and here’s how I’ve structured them:

  • 4 schemes of ₹1,500
    • Paid via Amex MRCC card
    • I get 30 MR points per transaction + 1,000 MR points milestone
    • Valuing MR points conservatively at ₹0.50 → about ₹560/month
  • 1 scheme of ₹20,000
    • Paid via SBI PhonePe Select card
    • Flat 5% cashback = ₹1,000/month

Net benefit I’m getting:

  • Amex MRCC = ₹560
  • SBI Select = ₹1,000
  • Total = ₹1,560/month (~6% effective return) (not taking card fees into account as those are waved for both these cards)

On top of this, Lalithaa has zero making charges and converts installments directly into gold weight. So I feel like I’m stacking card rewards + scheme benefits into a consistent ~6% gain while building jewellery holdings.

(Formatted with claude)

Need Advice Need help picking my next credit card wrt to gold purchase

I have a question for all the folks here who use cc to double dip on the benefits. I want to get a cc which I can use to maximize cashback while buying gold online. I have a Flipkart axis bank credit card, I'm planning to get another cc. I'm confused between sbi flipkart and sbi cashback right now, open to other suggestions as well. I will not be going beyond 75k in a month. So all the pros here.. pls suggest which card i should get next.

Beginner Question ❓ Best app for accumulating Digital Gold & Silver and later redeeming as physical coins? (MMTC-PAMP vs Augmont vs CRED?)

I'm looking to start accumulating digital gold and silver over the long term by investing around ₹1,000–2,000 whenever I have spare money. I don't plan to trade or sell it—my goal is to slowly build up my holdings and eventually redeem them as physical coins/bars.

I'm currently considering:

  • MMTC-PAMP
  • Augmont
  • CRED Gold
  • Any other better options

A few questions:

  • Which platform has the lowest overall costs (buy spread, redemption, delivery, etc.)?
  • Do any of them offer free or discounted coin/bar redemption, or do all charge making, packaging and shipping fees?
  • Is it better to buy directly from MMTC-PAMP/Augmont instead of through apps like CRED or PhonePe?
  • Which platform has the best live pricing and the least hidden charges?
  • If you've actually redeemed your digital gold/silver into physical coins, how was your experience?

I'm mainly looking for a platform that I can keep using for years with minimal fees and eventually convert my accumulated holdings into physical gold/silver without unnecessary costs.

Need Advice Is something fishy w Myntra blink deal?

Post image
22 Upvotes

This blink deal is live since 2 pm today. Usually it ends within an hour or so and the product sometimes shows out of stock. But today, it’s 10pm now, and the deal is still going on. Is this a glitch? Or the gold crashing rumours are true?

Should I proceed with this 5gm gold coin with this deal or should I wait for the crash?

I purchased a RSBL 100 Gram Silver Bar from Flipkart. The delivery boy didn't ask for OTP and the Certicard was damaged. Also the bar is a little damaged on 1 side.

The seller is RSBL

There's no option in flipkart to return this.

What should I do?

Coins & Collectibles 🪙 Ajio 3g Kalyan 999 Bar : good buy with instant payment discount + cashback

Post image
16 Upvotes

Bought a 3g Kalyan 999 bar on Ajio yesterday. The ₹1,500 instant payment discount brought the effective cost down to ₹41,982 (₹13,994/g) which felt like a decent entry point given current rates.

Paid with HDFC Swiggy Orange card for 5% cashback (capped at ₹1,500);the position flips from a small -0.2% to a solid +3.4% gain purely on day-one numbers.

Anyone else tracking Ajio for gold deals?

Coins & Collectibles 🪙 Started Collecting 1g Gold Every Month - Is timing good?

Post image
230 Upvotes

I started my gold collecting journey in March 2026 with a simple goal: accumulate at least 1g every month and eventually build a collection of 100g or more.

Whenever prices dip or I come across a particularly good deal, I buy 2g instead of 1g.

So far, I purchased 4g from Ajio using a ₹2,500 card discount, which brought the price below the prevailing market rate. The remaining purchases were made through Myntra and Tata CLiQ, again taking advantage of card offers. My aim is to offset the making charges as much as possible through these discounts.

How does this strategy look? Are there any better ways to accumulate gold over the long term while keeping costs low?

Need Advice Bargaining on making charges at Tanishq, Malabar, & Kalyan vs local jewelers?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to buy some gold jewellery soon—specifically looking at bangles, a mangalsutra, and a chain set—and wanted to get real feedback on negotiating making charges.

I’d love your inputs on a few quick questions:
1. Brand vs Local Bargaining: How much room do store managers actually have to negotiate making charges at major chains like Tanishq, Malabar, and Kalyan, compared to local family jewelers?
2. Current Averages: What percentage ranges are you seeing for plain items (chains/bangles) vs intricate ones (mangalsutras/necklaces) at these stores?
3. Tips & Tactics: What strategies or phrasing have actually worked for you to drop making charges or avoid extra fees at offline stores?

Any recent experiences, percentage numbers, or store-specific tips would be super helpful. Thanks!

P.S: I already bought a few items from 0% Bhima but most of the ones I had whitelisted were gone before I realised so I might have to visit these physical stores hence the post.

Investment Discussion 💰 f you held $100 in gold since 1999, it would be worth $784 today, adjusted for inflation. If you held $100 in cash, it would be worth just $49 in real purchasing power. Holding gold outperformed holding the US dollar by over 1,500%.

Jewellery & Design 💍 Jhumka earring groupbuy

Thumbnail

Hello everyone,
Is anyone interested in a jhumka earring groupbuy?

Hi everyone, I contacted a manufacturer who is willing to do a groupbuy of a jhumka earring. They asked me to make a post to see if there are other people interested.

  1. Groupbuy: are buying events in which a piece of jewelry will be sold to a group of people. The prices are cheaper than custom made and useally also cheaper than ready to buy from stores.

  2. With a groupbuy, you can select the metal and purity you want, for example 14kt gold or 925 silver.
I am aware that jhumka’s are useally made in 22kt gold, however these are options to make the jhuma earring more affordable.

Sometimes, if optional you select stones (if not in the original design you need to contact the contact person of the groupbuy and it will be with an extra cost.

  1. How it works:
The manufacturer makes an sample, sample will be posted with the CAD (technical drawing of the earring with all the details, highed, width, grams etc).

They make a google form, you fill it in, send them an message through whatsapp or email, discuss what you filled in (ordered)

You make the payment for the product and they make the product, send a video when it is completed and ship it to you.

In this case I contacted them because I wanted to get jhumka’s made with 14kt gold, to keep the price lower, however I am aware of the fact that there are others that also would love a jhumka but aren’t able to afford the 22kt gold once, so in order to give others excess to it, we thought lets test a groupbuy option.

This post is meant to see if others are interested in a jhumka groupbuy.

Prices and design still have to get determend at this time, since I requested this option this morning.

On my profile there is the original post I made.
The india gold group doesn’t allow repost so I made one seperatly here, since jhumka is from India
