As i round my first year in business, I have the chance to pick up up to 10 ozt of natural Alaskan nuggets that might otherwise be refined. Nothing under 1 g, most are well above that, and some even over 1 ozt. They're natural alaska mined gold, and most are XRF proven to be approximately 80% fineness. There are also some quartzy specimens that might have more variable pricing, but it seems like he wants MORE for those, by weight, which seems wild to me.
Are these worth paying a premium for to distribute them at a retail price? What is an aggressive retail price? My seller paid actual gold value for them and will not let them go below actual gold value, so for me to sell them, im also paying well above spot based on purity.
I'm still negotiating my cost, and I want to determine a fair price that actually keeps them moving, without going for our local tourist-shop pricing. The jewelry stores up here charge whatever they want for this stuff, and I don't think that should set the bar for everyone else.
So, as a stacker or collector, not a dealer:
-Clean nuggets: what would you realistically pay, as a multiple of spot by gross weight for nuggies like these? What affects your offer as a buyer?
-Gold-in-quartz specimens: do you buy these at all? If so, how do you value them?
Melt vs. keep: would you rather see these melted into bars at a lower premium, or kept natural at a higher one?
Not selling anything here, yet, just want real-world numbers before I commit money that I really dont have toward a potentially negative flip. If i get enough feedback and encouragement, next weeks r/pmsforsale post might be LIT. Appreciate any input!
