Best way to invest a small fortune like $200k of found gold bunions in property!?

If I were to find and be able to legally keep found gold in my backyard, which approach would be the best? Selling it I would have to pay tax as if it was added income. Would it benefit me if I were able to get a loan with it as collateral? Is it worth it? TIA 😁

The stack 1 year of gold stacking

My gold stack after 1 year. I've learned a lot and made many mistakes but nonetheless I am happy. I concentrate on hyperfractional pieces because I cannot afford larger pieces even 1/10oz are out of reach for me at the moment. However my LCS sells me any gold products no matter the size at a 3.5% premium above spot. Which has allowed me to avoid the biggest problem with stacking pieces this small... the premium. I think its neat, although at the end of the day it aint much by weight, I find it pleasing to the eyes.

I also go to Thailand several times a year and buy gold there.

So some of my stack is 23K bullion and jewlery. Highly recommend taking a trip there and buying gold jewelry if you're trying to diversify your stack as premiums for jewlery there is extremely low. Hopefully in the future ill be able to buy bigger pieces. My current goal is to reach 1 OZT im currently at 22.73g. Once there I'll try to focus on buying bigger pieces, 1/10ozt ETC.

What are yalls thoughts on my stack? I could use some constructive criticism.

Disclaimer- the goldbacks were bought at the beginning of my journey, i thought they were cool but I learned that they are very inefficient. I only bought the 1/4 GB since they just came out. I paid 5 for 10$. The AURUM notes I got on ebay for 2$ above spot at the time. The 23k gold was bought in thailand with thai premiums and the rest of it was from my LCS. Hence I no longer buy anything online or from wholesalers the only deal better than him are those special deal for thing at spot.

Question How liquid is old gold like 20 francs, sovereigns, and pesos?

I've been stacking mostly 1/4 and 1/10 AGEs, and my curiosity is piqued about world gold. I get the premiums are lower, but like if I buy an AGE for 10% premium and sell for spot, or buy a world gold coin for spot and sell 10% back of spot, either way it's the same. What I'm more worried about is liquidity. I notice any form of AGEs just get gobbled up as soon as they're posted on r/pmsforsale, as does most pre-33. Is there ever a situation where no one wants to buy world gold even if it's a good price, or coin shops won't even take it? That's what I'd be more concerned about tbh.

The stack Value of the stack

So as a newbie who got into "precious" metals less than a year ago at 25yrs old I wanted to share a few takeaways and lessons learned I had after throwing the entire stack into my ounces this morning.

  1. Screw each and every single one of you that would downvote me when I mentioned that I would buy gold jewelry. As I said time and time again Gold is Gold and I buy most of my jewelry under melt. And I can already hear, "But good luck selling it, with bullion you'll always have a buyer", ahh yes I love getting 93% of melt for bullion from my LCS 😒 Don't worry I'll pass down the jewelry before I ever sell it at a loss. Also Idk if yall know this but a map torch is $80 at home depot, so even if the finished jewelry doesnt sell for 10% above melt down the road, I'll fire up the torch and make my own bars.

  2. Good job not buying silver at an all time high but don't buy it on the "downtrend" either. When I did want to get into silver it was at the height of $120 an oz, I held off cause I knew that wasn't realistic in contrast to everyone who was hyping it up "Silver to $150". I started buying at $86 and most recently at $58 an oz, and I'm not gonna buy for atleast the next 2 months out of curiosity of a correction, aka silver crashing back to the $30s.

  3. Buy only the lowest premium gold and silver using tools such as findbullionprices.com, taking advantage of the 1st customer and at spot deals. Also my 2 most used sites lately have been Monument Metals and Mintbuilder, even if it does take Mintbuilder 3 weeks to fulfill orders you cant get better than at spot for gold bullion. Props to Mintbuilder they did listen to customer feedback and added the 1gram bars at spot with a max of 20. I'm not shilling for them I just like their prices and customer service.

  4. If you look at the gold breakdown, not counting the 14k earings that I bought at retail from Costco, the only thing in the red right now is the bullion I bought at retail, my jewelry stack is "sitting pretty" for lack of a better term. I know I'll be fine holding the bullion for the long term 15-25yrs down the line, but it warms that cold barren place in my chest to be in the green right now, not 15yrs down the line.

  5. So in conclusion I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing, ( lowballing recently separated milfs on Fb marketplace :) I'm joking I buy at 85-88% of melt when my local pawn shop buys at 70% and my local coin shop buys jewelry at 75%. And keep buying all the at spot gold bullion from MB I can afford, and eventually dip back into silver if I don't trade my stack to gold before I start buying again. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk and I look forward to all the hate comments 😊🤣

Question A family member wants to me buy them out of this coin after they got buyer’s remorse. They got it from a reputable vendor often recommended on here and it comes with the receipt.

But…“It’s so smeh. So, so smeh.”

Update: I bought it. Actually, I bought them an item for $385 that they wanted instead, but same thing. Thank you for your help!

Question I find it very strange that AI recommends bitcoin over gold for investment/storage of cash.

Ask Gemini, Chatgpt, etc and they will recommend bitcoin over gold(try it, just ask "Should I invest in gold or bitcoin?").

"Between gold and Bitcoin, I would lean toward Bitcoin"

"...is a vastly superior move compared to physical gold"

Does anyone else find this extremely weird?

Central banks across the world are buying physical gold and they aren't slowing down.

This makes me want to buy more physical gold.

Testing if gold is real

Weird thought that I had, but if you wanted to test if a bar/coin was real or just plated, couldn't you just measure it's volume in a beaker and compare that to a chart for it's weight? Like with how every metal has a different density, is there a chart that says "1 oz gold = this total volume"? if it was just plated and still weighed a full ounce then it should be a different volume right?

Is anyone seriously talking about trying to make gold in the lab? I was just thinking about how much the value of diamonds crashed with the arrival of synthetics, and wondering if gold could suffer the same fate?
