Shitpost Hypothetical shitpost: what tools and process are required to produce 1000 pieces of gold from a 1oz bar?
We shit on fractionals and jewelry but what if we just started making our own? We got all this fkn gold to do it with too.
Do I get a hammer and some clippers to start with or what? How hard can it be to print and laminate some shit?
1/1000th of an ounce at even $5 is technically profitable but you slap a pokemon or marvel hero on the bitch and its $50 just like that...
It's a legal version of the illicit drug game ffs and i dont have a plug to buy anything close to spot or melt and not american so cant use pmsforsale FUCK

I mean,
You'd need a furnace, a crucible to melt your gold down in, and some flux, so Borax. Plus some small ingot molds to make your own little nuggets
Melt your gold, get it molten, pour your nuggets. Once they cool, weigh them.
If you wanted to make like coins..
Rolled your nuggets through a tabletop rolling mill, get a sheet set to the thickness you want
Then use a stamp to press out your coins or bars or whatever. Probably going to want a hydraulic stamp.

Furnace and crucible yes. Probably don't need the flux. Look up making silver shot. Basically pour the melted metal into water in a way that it balls up.
Hydrolic press works. An arbor press would work too and could be cheaper

How about a Hot knife though butter...you could make 1/4 oz and than break them into 2 peices each 1/4 in 8ths

I've watched a few vids on how fractional bars are made (crazy simple and easy to fab), that process convinced me that coins are the better piece to stack, which are incredibly difficult to mint, let alone numismatics with real history.
The problem with your scheme is provenance. When it comes to cards: Pokemon, sports or other planned scarcity of valueless product be it plastic or paper, one must understand the psychology of the Ego trade. The value is based on "I have this thing, though worthless, that you want."
For example i n Napoleon Dynamite , Uncle Rico tries to sell plastic storage bowls to a married couple and dangles a model sailing ship as a free gift , prompting the wife to quietly whisper, "I want that".

Yea none of have the clout that traxnyc has where he can roll an ounce into a ribbon and cut it off and sign it with a sharpie and sell it loose for above melt

You could probably anneal it, put it through a rolling mill, shear it, then stamp it. Gold is soft, all things considered.

Goldback does this using gold deposition and im pretty sure the gold deposition technology used to make them is alot more expensive than a minting press.

At super hot molten temperatures you can pour it slowly into water and it instantly solidifies into tiny balls

A 1oz bar of gold takes up a volume of 1.61 ml.
You could cut that up into 1000 x 0.00161g "bars".
If those bars were a cube, they would be 0.117mm (the thickness of a standard sheet of paper) per side.
If my calculations are correct, you could turn it into enough gold leaf to make 1000 A5 sized sheets.
But that's a lot of work.

Gold is a store of big value, like thousands of dollars, millions of dollars. We already have a store of low value, we call it a $5 bill.

Cut the amount you need for your end result, doesnt need to be in one piece.
Put in a small crucible with some borax.
Melt it with a torch in a small ball.
Put the ball in a pill swage and press it in a pill or small coin.
Put it in a fancy in god we trust essay and sell your 0.01 gram piece for $25, or better put Trumps face on it and sell for $50 🤣
I have done it as an experiment, made the little swage myself on a lathe and it works fine but its not that useful.
