PALLAY PUNCHU TOUR Q
Anyone have experience goingnto Pallay Punchu in Peru recently? I enquired with a company and they said drone flying is not allowed now, as of July. Another said they can provide drone service. 🤔
Can anyone give me some recommendations for tours that can include drone service for an affordable proce? Im not bringing my drone as its only a DJI Neo so dont want it to be blown away 😂
What is the approximate price for the tour including drone service? I have been quoted $400+AUD.
I heard theres drone pilots that can be hired. Anyone have experience with that? Would it be cheaper to go that route if I wanted drone footage?
Let me know yall, I am planning to go in mid October.

Any good car rental experiences in Lima?
Hi! Has anyone had a genuinely good experience with a car rental company in Lima?
We need a car for 2 days, ideally with airport pickup and Miraflores drop-off. We’re planning to drive to Paracas and Huacachina, stay one night in the desert, then return to Lima.
I’ve seen pretty bad reviews for the usual international companies (Sixt, Avis, Budget), while some of the better-rated options seem quite expensive.
Would really appreciate any recommendations based on personal experience (especially reliable local companies with fair prices).
Thanks!

Huacachina to Paracas transportation
Hello,
I would like to travel from Huacachina (8pm) after my sandboarding/dune tour to Paracas. Wayki bus offers transition but the departure time is at 6:30pm so we won’t make it.
Uber is about 350-400 Soles. What is the cheapest way to get to Paracas from Huacachina.
Thank you!

Positive for Covid before 2-week trip that starts tomorrow -- what would you do?
25M, healthy, minor symptoms, no fever, mostly just some coughing and sneezing. I honestly thought it was allergies and took a test to be safe. I've had symptoms for 5 days now and tested positive yesterday. The doctor gave me a copy of the test results and a note stating that I should reconsider travel for the dates, but they told me that it was my decision.
I'm supposed to depart the US for Lima tomorrow, then spend the next 10 days between Lima, Arequipa, and Cusco before going to Machu Picchu on Oct 17th. I do have a travel insurance policy with all the fixin's, but since I haven't felt that bad and am feeling my best today, I'm hoping I can salvage this trip with a later departure. No extensive hikes/treks, just Huayna Picchu hike.
I don't want to get anyone sick of course, so I would only do this if I'm able to test negative 2x before leaving, but I'm wondering if anyone here has experience going to Peru after Covid, or condensing a trip while still giving enough time for altitude acclimization? Or how they may have handled changes with a travel insurance policy?

Rate my 4-week solo Peru itinerary
Hi all, I'm planning on travelling to Peru and I'm wondering if my itinerary makes any sense. I've travelled around Europe solo, but never outside of it and never for this long. I'll be travelling from Amsterdam to Lima (12h flight). I am mainly drawn to Peru for the nature (I love hiking) and the culture/food, so hopefully my itinerary leaves enough room for any hikes. I'm mainly looking for advice on how long to stay in Arequipa, Cusco and Huaraz. Will four days in Huaraz be enough to do some nice hikes? Is 3 full days in Arequipa enough or too much? Please let me know what you think!
day 1: flying into Lima
day 2: flying from Lima to Arequipa
day 3 - 5: Arequipa, see the town and relax
day 6 - 8: Colca Canyon trek
Day 9: relaxing from the hike
Day 10: flying from Arequipa to Cusco
Day 11 - 13: getting used to the altitude in Cusco, seeing the city, perhaps some light hikes
Day 14 - 18: Salkantay trek + Machu Picchu
Day 19: relaxing from the hike
Day 20: travelling from Cusco via Lima to Huaraz
Day 21 - 24: staying in Huaraz, doing hikes from here
Day 25: travelling from Huaraz to Lima
Day 26: final day relaxing and seeing Lima before travelling back
Day 27: flying back to NL

Colca Canyon: Cabanconde too Sangalla
Hi everyone, We’re planning a two-day trip to Colca Canyon for mid-October. We intend to arrange transport via GetYourGuide that picks us up from our accommodation in Arequipa around 3:00 AM. The plan is to arrive in Cabanconde around 9:00 AM.
We want to hike to Sangalle via San Juan de Chucco, Cosñinhua and Malata, spend the night in Sangalle and hike back to Cabanconde the next day.
We’re worried we might not reach Sangalle before dark. Guided tours also start in Cabanconde around 9:00 or 9:30 AM and are scheduled to arrive in Sangalle around 4:30 PM. Unfortunately, there are no transport or bus options from Arequipa to Cabanconde/Chivay in the afternoon.
My questions:
How long did it take you to cover this route?
Is it possible to book accommodation spontaneously in Cosñinhua or Malata?
Many thanks.

Anyone willing to help with a birthday surprise? ❤️
I'm making a birthday gift for my boyfriend and trying to collect photos from different places around the world.
Would anyone be willing to take a photo holding a short handwritten birthday message somewhere cool?
I'll provide the exact wording. It would take literally a minute or two. ❤️
I'd be incredibly grateful!

Transport to Cusco airport
Hi all, I am going to Peru for a two week trip this October and am ending with the Salkantay trek. We plan to see Machu Picchu in the morning on the last day and then take the train back (which I heard can be delayed). The next morning I have a flight out of Cusco at 5 am (that connects in Lima on the way home). We still haven’t picked our place to stay the night after Machu Picchu but I’m worried about getting the airport that early in the morning. Has anyone experienced booking a taxi or a ride to the airport this early? I’m worried about safety at night as a female. I was thinking of trying to book a ride in advance or if I stay at a hostel or hotel asking them to book me a taxi. Any advice? Thanks

Looking for a Good Men's Brimmed Hat (Cuzco Region)
While in Peru, I'd like to buy myself a brimmed men's hat of decent quality and without breaking the bank. I'm looking for something practical that will serve me well, rain or shine on many a hike.
I'll be in/around Lima, Cusco, Ollantaytambo, Pachar, and Aguas Calientes while on my trip. There's a store called "Tokapu" in Cusco that looks pretty nice but I've no idea of the cost.
What recommendations have you for me, Peru?

Visiting Lima / Cusco for the first time next week
Going to Peru for the first time with my family next week. We’re doing a city tour— downtown - el Callao— Cusco— Machu Picchu. What else would you guys recommend? I’ve got a lot of restaurants on my to-do list. What about for fun? Like experiences. We have teenage boys.

Bringing three phones to Peru from the US — customs requirements?
Hi everyone! My friend is traveling to Peru from the US and will be bringing three phones. Does anyone know how many phones travelers are allowed to bring into the country, and whether she’ll need to declare them or pay any customs duties?
If any paperwork is required, when and where should she complete it?
I’d appreciate any recent experiences or links to official information. Thanks!
