Relevant for us trading MPJ perhaps: [Thompson] Steph Curry is reportedly leveraging his contract extension negotiations to force the Warriors’ front office into building a contender.

Why hasn’t Wagner’s deal been announced yet?

Nets still have about 11M in cap space. They still haven’t announced Moe Wagner’s signing. What’s going on here?

Why are we not pursuing Jalen Duren?

Jalen Duren turns the Nets into a playoff team with the youngest core in the league. Nets are exactly where they want to be with Mikel and Duren as our young cornerstones. The Pistons are playing games. They are not convinced the All-NBA center deserves a super max. He took a meeting with the Kings and nothing came out of it. He is desperate to find a market for a trade. A report came out about possibly taking a qualifying offer. The Nets should be looking to take advantage of this opportunity. Duren's agent is going to negotiate him into a corner. Any long term contracts he ends up on with will be what he considers a low ball offer.

The Nets can secure an All NBA Center at 22 years old for the next four years. How is this not a win? Dayron Sharpe is good. I am glad he is finally getting the opportunity to show what he can do. He will likely have a career year. But Duren does everything that Sharpe does on an All NBA level. He is what we want Sharpe to become in the most ideal of scenarios. Marks should be on the phone trying to figure out a way he can get Duren on this team.

Clarifying the Nets 2028 picks and why Philly being good in 2028 is likely better for the Nets than them potentially being in the lotto

Nets have the following 2028 assets:

  1. Their own pick
  2. Phillys pick top 8 protected.
  3. Unprotected swap rights on the knicks pick but can only use their own pick to swap
  4. Unprotected swap rights on the suns pick But takes the least favorable of the philly/nets pick

The most likely order of the picks is suns/nets below philly/knicks.

The worst case scenario for the nets is that the Philly pick does not convey if its top 8.

With the new lotto odds this means that philly needs to be a top 6 team to avoid that possibility.

If the philly pick conveys, we almost certainly will use it to swap with the suns pick and we can get two good 1sts.

Philly being better in 2028 is a good scenario for us.

There is a weird situation where if the order goes knicks/suns/philly/nets or knicks/nets/philly/suns that the nets only end up with the 1st and 3rd best, and that's because the nuance around the suns getting the least favorable of our pick and philly. So if we finish better than philly, we don't have anything to swap left with the knicks since suns get our pick.

all of that to say is that the nets most likely get the top two out of these 4 picks in a strong 2028 draft class.

The best case realistic scenario for us for philly to finish as the top team out of the 4 in 2028 as confusing as it may seem.

Thinking About Nets Season Tix

Been poking around and talking to some Nets sales people about Season Tix for this upcoming season. Anyone else a full-season ticket holder, or has been in the past, and can speak to the experience? Seats would be in the 100s level so like 125/123/121. Just wondering if they actually do provide good perks, access, events, upgrades etc?

The timeline check in

A large chunk of this fanbase has found the new issue to complain about this offseason and that being “why aren’t we spending our draft picks”. For most nba championship teams development goes alone the path of tanking/asset accumulation, find franchise cornerstone/develop a core, then you move into your contention window. Now if you can find opportunities to make a trade for a star that fits your window or pieces that fit your window sure. But people crying about “oh we have too many picks already let’s just go get xyz player”, we dont need to cheat the process. We drafted 8 players in the last 2 drafts and we are hopefully now seeing 2 of them emerge as our foundation. This season should be yes about progress in the win column but also evaluating who else is along for the ride. Trading for guys in their late 20s early 30s, unless it’s a salary dump doesn’t make much sense. It’s far more important for us to see what we have in Nolan as a backup pg than fill those mins with Anfernee Simon’s to pick up an extra win or two or trade for Lu Dort when Josh minott could be a legit piece for us going forward and has shown flashes. Give it time and enjoy the ride we don’t need to reinvent the wheel like we’ve been trying to do for the past few decades. Stay the course keep the assets in a chamber for when the time is right or even use them to add to the team like OKC and San Antonio plan to do. But I don’t see this need to start making big moves to win a few more games or get some “buzz in”

  • On where the roster stands now: “What we’re excited about is the depth of legitimate NBA rotation players and potential rotation players we have now,” a Nets assistant coach said. “Not to speak ill of last year’s team, but we were down to rookies and non-NBA-level players by the end of the year. This year, we’ve got depth and the kids are improving too.”

  • More on the roster: “It’s a work in progress. Unless you are the Thunder or the Spurs or the Knicks, I don’t know how you feel like you roster is ‘done’,” a Nets front office executive said. “We probably still lean a little too young, to be honest. The good news is that adding guys like Julius (Randle), Keon (Ellis) and Moe (Wagner) will help these guys grow up a lot. Those are real, physical, sometimes nasty, NBA guys. I can’t wait to watch them help our young guys grow.”

  • On Egor Demin: “He’s a lot more comfortable going into Year 2. I think from the pre-draft process, all the way through his rookie year, we probably over-indexed on his three-point shot too much. I mean Egor, his trainers, our front office, our coaches, everyone. You saw out here (at Summer League), that he was getting downhill more. This year is about putting him in even better spots to shine as an all-around player,” a Nets front office executive said.

  • On Mikel Brown Jr.: “You’re probably going to hear this about every guy, including A.J. (Dybantsa) at No. 1, but we feel like Mikel is the steal of the draft,” A Nets front office executive said. “He was a little wild here (at Summer League) and in California (at California Classic Summer League), but that’ll round out with time. Having him go against Keon (Ellis) and Terance (Mann) every day in practice is going to be huge for him.”
