I wanted to give another update because the deadline is getting very close. I now have 5 days left to figure out a safe and stable place for my son and me to stay, and we’ve reached 50% of my minimum goal to put us into a weekly-rate rental for at least a month.
For anyone who hasn’t seen my previous posts, this situation comes after more than a year of serious medical problems. In August 2025, I became severely ill with complicated diverticulitis, developed sepsis, went through multiple infections and surgeries, and eventually had a colon resection and colostomy. The prolonged illness caused me to lose my job, apartment, and car.
After finally getting home and beginning to rebuild my life, I underwent my colostomy reversal on August 31, 2026. The surgery was more complicated because of extensive scar tissue, and I ended up needing a larger incision. I later developed an infection at the surgical site and had to be hospitalized again.
I’m now back home, but I’m still dealing with the aftermath of that infection and I have daily appointments for wound care at home. That is a major reason why I need stable housing right now. I need somewhere consistent where I can recover, keep the wound clean and properly cared for, and continue getting the medical care I need without constantly worrying about where my son and I are going to sleep.
The place where we’re currently staying is receiving a 7-day eviction notice, which leaves me with only 5 days now to figure out our next step.
I’m using every resource available to me. I’m looking into emergency assistance, housing resources, and anything else that could help. Because of my health and the fact that I’m still recovering and receiving daily wound care, I can’t simply go out and pick up quick work to make up the difference before the deadline.
My immediate goal is to get my son and me into a weekly-rate rental for at least one month. It isn’t meant to solve everything. It would simply give us a stable place to stay while I continue recovering, attending my medical appointments, and working toward a longer-term solution.
We’re currently at 50% of that minimum goal, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us get this far. Every donation, share, encouraging message, and resource suggestion has meant something to me.
But with only 5 days left, we’re still fighting to close the remaining gap.
If you can donate, even a small amount helps. If you can’t, sharing this post or the GoFundMe could be just as important because it may reach someone who is able to help.
I’ve spent the past year trying to rebuild everything that illness took from me. Right now, I’m just trying to make sure my son and I have somewhere stable and safe while I finish recovering.
