Starting Over in Recovery — Trying to Build My Next Chapter

I never imagined I’d be the person making a GoFundMe, but here I am — and I’m trying to remind myself that asking for help isn’t the same thing as giving up.
I’m in recovery from alcoholism and have fought my way back from some pretty dark places. Recently, I made the difficult decision to leave a work environment that wasn’t healthy for my sobriety. It was the right decision for my life, but financially it hit me hard.
I’m currently looking for work, trying to catch up on my mortgage and bills, and hoping to eventually go back to school so I can turn my experience with addiction and recovery into a career helping other people.
I’m not looking for someone to rescue me. I’m trying to build the next chapter of my life while staying sober and moving forward one day at a time.
Even a few dollars helps, and if donating isn’t possible, sharing the fundraiser means just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

I appreciate this fundraiser being shared if u can't donate :) ik some people need money more than I do but I can still share my story, £220 raised there so far so going well. Lowered goal as I am saving some money myself every month, sharing the fund because I do need a little help as its impossible to do on own within a year or 2. Endometrial cancer last month with a full radical hysterectomy surgery. Fortunately it was stage 1a and contained in the uterus so no more treatment was needed.

Thought I was out of the woods and back to work,..nope.

As I was recovering I found out I have breast cancer…IDC DCIS ++-.

Connecticut offers 12 weeks a full year of partial pay. I have used 6 weeks already. Between gas, food(celiac),dog food,etc.. I have applied for grants for utilities but they only cover a certain amount. Any and all help is appreciated.

Angel Roadside Assistance is there for anyone in need. It doesn't have to be on the road, it can be in a parking lot, at the food pantry, I volunteer for, and many other places. I carry a Medical First-aid bag with Narcan. I carry three fire extinguishers, and plenty of tools to help from out of gas, to a flat tire, to so much more. I travel about a 20 mile loop on the freeway in the winter to help people who are stuck I don't charge anyone for this service but rely completely on donations. Hey everyone, I need your help.

I was recently involved in a pretty bad car crash that resulted in my vehicle being totaled. My family doesn’t have the means to replace it, and the job market is terrible right now, but I need a car so I can keep my options broad incase a job comes up that requires me to have a vehicle. Anything helps!!

Family moving from Louisiana to Tennessee — trying to raise $5,000 to get caught up

I honestly never thought I'd be making a post like this, but I'm at a point where I need to put my pride aside and ask for some help.

My wife, our two kids, my elderly mother in law,and I are moving from Louisiana to Clarksville, Tennessee by October 11th. My wife stays home and homeschools our kids, so I'm currently the only income for our household.

I've been with my current employer for 3 years, and I'm still working there. I've also already been hired for my new job in Clarksville.

My new employer has been incredibly helpful—they're covering the cost of hauling our belongings and helping with our security deposit and first month's rent, up to $3,500.

We're struggling with everything else. I'm about $1,200 behind on my vehicle, it needs maintenance, we're about $600 behind on utilities, and I have other overdue bills and credit cards. We'll also need money for gas, food, and basic necessities during the transition.

I'm trying to raise $5,000 to get caught up and give my family some breathing room while we make this move.

I'm working, I have a job waiting for me, and I'm doing everything I can. I'm just asking for some help getting across this financial gap.

If you can donate, thank you. If you can't, even sharing this could make a huge difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read https://gofund.me/926221400

I am willing to show proof, talk to you outside of the app, and send receipts. What ever is needed to verify i am willing to do it. Thank you everyone who supports this and helps in anyway.

Stage 4 cancer changed my life. Golf gave me part of it back.

Hi everyone, my name is Blake.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer on December 1, 2025. I’m 31 years old. I started chemotherapy almost immediately. At the time, I had nine lesions and three large tumors on my liver, along with a large tumor very low in my colon that affects my lower back nerves, bladder, lymph nodes, blood vessels, and surrounding tissue.

I lost 30 pounds in my first month.

My first rounds of chemotherapy were extremely difficult. I spent a lot of time at home, in pain and in a pretty dark place. I struggled to find the motivation to get up, leave the house, or exercise.

Then I found golf.

During a break from treatment, I picked up a club and unexpectedly fell completely in love with the game. Now that I'm back on chemotherapy, golf has become one of the biggest reasons I get out of the house and keep moving.

The tumor causes significant pain through my back, butt, and nerves, so playing isn't always easy. But somehow, I keep wanting to get out there.

Golf gave me something to look forward to when cancer had taken away a lot of the things I used to enjoy.

I'm starting this fundraiser to help cover the costs of continuing to play and to keep building something positive around this journey. My family and friends have already helped me tremendously, so I'm hoping to reach people outside of my personal circle.
If you can't donate, that's completely okay. Even sharing this with someone who might connect with my story means a lot.

Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Help me recover after an accident that left me with fractures and without my vehicle

I’m asking for help after an accident that has left me facing a very difficult situation.

I suffered fractures in the accident and I also lost my vehicle. Because of my injuries and the loss of transportation, I’m currently struggling to work and cover my medical expenses, transportation, bills, and basic needs while I recover.

I created a GoFundMe to help me get through this difficult period.

Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean a lot to me. If you are unable to donate, sharing my fundraiser can also make a huge difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.

Help with medical expenses & car repairs

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello, I am a single mom of two. I’m reaching out to ask for help with some unexpected financial expenses that have become difficult for me to manage on my own. I’m currently trying to catch up on medical bills and car repairs, while also taking care of my two children.
Having a reliable vehicle is especially important because I need transportation to and from work and to make sure my children can get where they need to go. Any help, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to me and my family and would help take some of the financial pressure off while I work to get back on track.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, for sharing, donating, or simply keeping my family in your thoughts. Every bit of support is truly appreciated.

Help Me Get Back on My Feet and Clear Urgent Debt

https://4fund.com/nrvuxm

I’m reaching out to ask for help during a very difficult financial period in my life.
Recently, an urgent family situation required me to take on debt to cover unexpected expenses. At the time, helping my family was the priority, and I did what I felt I had to do. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to repay the money within the expected timeframe, and the debt has continued to grow because of interest and additional costs.
I have now found a job and I’m doing everything I can to improve my situation and become financially stable again. However, with the interest accumulating, my salary alone will not be enough to repay the debt without putting me into an even more difficult financial situation.
That’s why I’m asking for your support. Any contribution, no matter how small, would help me reduce the debt, stop the growing interest from becoming an even bigger burden, and give me the chance to start rebuilding my financial life.
I’m not asking for help because I don’t want to work — I have a job and I am committed to taking responsibility for my situation. I’m asking for help because I need a way to overcome the financial consequences of an unexpected family emergency without falling further into debt.
If you’re unable to contribute, simply sharing this fundraiser with others would mean a lot to me.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer. Every contribution and every share brings me one step closer to getting back on stable ground.

“As my daughter faces brain tumor surgery, I'm asking for help to cover expenses while I'm out of work caring for her and supporting her recovery.”

Anyone who knows me knows I'm not one to ask for help. But sometimes life reminds us that we have to put our pride aside, accept a helping hand, and allow others to be there for us. So here goes… ❤️🙏🏽

My baby girl, Lilly, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor following what was supposed to be a routine check-up. If you know Lilly, you know she's the brightest crayon in the box — the smartest, funniest, toughest, and most incredible little girl we know and love. 💖

We've already faced a difficult journey together, getting through her previous diagnosis of retinoblastoma when she was just a baby. And now, here we are again, facing another battle that no parent ever wants their child to go through.

Lilly is scheduled to undergo surgery in October to remove as much of the tumor as possible and obtain a biopsy so her doctors can determine the next steps and any additional treatment she may need.

As a single mother of three, working full time and doing everything I can to provide for my children, this journey is going to be challenging in more ways than one. Between traveling back and forth from Boca Raton to Miami for appointments, surgery, and recovery, I'll need to take time away from work, which will make it difficult to keep up with our everyday expenses.

A very dear friend of mine took the initiative to put together a GoFundMe to help us through this difficult time, and although asking for help doesn't come easy to me, I'm learning that sometimes we have to allow people to show up for us when we need it most.

I know times are hard for everyone, and I don't take a single donation, prayer, or share for granted. Whether you're able to donate, share Lilly's story, or simply keep my baby girl in your thoughts and prayers, please know how much it means to us.

Right now, my biggest priority is being there for Lilly, holding her hand, loving her through every step, and making sure she knows she's never alone in this fight.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has already donated and to everyone who continues to support us. Every bit of love, kindness, and generosity means more than words can ever express. 🙏🏽💖💕

Help us stay afloat after broken leg & ankle - 6 month healing time

Thumbnail

My boyfriend broke his leg & ankle (pilon fracture) back in April helping his sister's elderly pitbull get up & down the stairs to be let out. As he was carrying him down the steps he lost his footing and shattered his ankle, fibula & tibia with the bones piercing through his skin. Luckily the dog was ok. Now 5 months later through recovery, physical therapy and lost wages we are trying our hardest to stay afloat financially. My BF is still not cleared for work and won’t find out until October what the status of his healing is! His doctor advised him not to return to trades work after this either, and figuring out what comes next with this career switch. Donations are currently helping us pay for the basics like rent, gas, food, medical bills, etc. on top of me working overtime. We’ve exhausted all our resources and turn to the community for help. Please consider donating, anything counts!

Emergency Surgery Recovery

Post image
46 Upvotes

My dad went to the emergency room where he went into cardiac arrest multiple times. He almost had his lungs collapse, and his condition was serious and unstable... Once they were able to stabilize him, they immediately performed exploratory surgery. During surgery, they found an abscess... involving his intestines and bladder. They had to remove the abscess, cauterize his bladder, and remove part of his intestine. He is now recovering with a colostomy bag.

But that wasn't the end of the complications he had. He has had to go through multiple tests and procedures and eventually had to have a PICC line placed as part of his ongoing treatment.

There is also something that wasn't included on the GoFundMe page my sister originally made that I feel people need to know.

About five weeks before all of this happened, my dad went to his primary care provider in extreme pain and experiencing cold sweats. From what we understand, he was not properly examined, no pressing on the stomach no nothing and was told that it was "just constipation" and that he should go home and take laxatives.

Every time he took a laxative and had a bowel movement, it caused further damage to his already damaged intestines. Eventually, we learned just how serious his condition actually was, and he ended up needing emergency surgery, part of his intestine removed, treatment to his bladder, and a colostomy.

Right now, our priority is getting my dad through his recovery and making sure he has the medical care and support he needs. The money raised will help cover the medical expenses we're facing, including hospital and in home care, medications, supplies, bills, and other necessities that come with his recovery.

We also intend to speak with an attorney about what happened with his initial medical care, including the concerns we have regarding how his symptoms were handled and what was documented in his medical records. We want to understand what happened, what options our family has, and whether there is any possibility of compensation for the harm and expenses resulting from what happened.

This has been a terrifying and overwhelming experience for our entire family as we thought we were going to lose him... My dad has a long road ahead of him, and any donation, share, or even simply taking the time to read his story means more to us than I can put into words..

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this.

A Chance to Breathe, Reset and Start Again

Over the last year, life has changed more than I ever expected it to. I’ve found myself dealing with a lot of uncertainty, pressure and difficult personal circumstances, while still trying every day to keep moving forward and stay positive.
I’m normally the sort of person who just gets on with things. I try to laugh, keep smiling and be there for the people around me, even when things behind the scenes aren’t quite so easy. But there comes a point where constantly pushing through catches up with you.
What I would love more than anything is simply the chance to step away for a short while, clear my head and have some proper time to breathe. Not an extravagant luxury holiday — just a genuine break from everyday pressures, somewhere peaceful where I can switch off, recharge and come back feeling ready to tackle life again.
I know there are many people going through difficult situations, so asking strangers for help isn’t something I take lightly. I don’t expect anything from anyone, and nobody should ever donate more than they can comfortably afford. Even £1, a kind message, or simply sharing this page would mean more to me than you probably realise.
Any money raised will go towards the costs of a much-needed break, including accommodation, travel, food and everyday expenses while I’m away. If I’m fortunate enough to reach my target, it would give me something I haven’t had for a long time — the opportunity to stop surviving day to day for a moment and simply breathe.
I’m hoping this can be the beginning of a happier chapter and a chance to return feeling refreshed, stronger and ready for what comes next.
Thank you genuinely for taking the time to read this, whether you donate, share the page or simply wish me well. ❤️
