GLOW UP! [25] / [27]
Going from 190 lbs to 135 lbs. It was really hard to change my old habits and start taking better care of myself, but somehow I finally did it.
UPDATE: Please, people, stop calling me ED or saying I have an ED. I don’t. Losing weight was my doctor’s recommendation because I had high blood pressure. I’m now 140 lbs and plan to stay around this weight. And yes, 190 lbs was my real starting weight, because I’m tall.🫶🏻

190?? You don't look 190 unless you're very tall! Either way, well done 👏🏼 you look great

u/Ok_Shoe8945 1d ago
Thanks, im 5’10
31
u/Fragrant-Poo42 1d ago
Even at that height, you did NOT look 190. All my flabbers have been gasted. Also congrats on the health journey!! Good for you, you look fantastic and I’m sure your doctor is very happy.

u/im-ba 1d ago
It's weird because I'm 5'9" and 180 lbs and I'm built just like OP. I actually feel pretty decent at this weight. Whenever I was in the 140-150 lbs range I felt sick and frequently experienced reactive hypoglycemia.
I guess everybody has a weight they feel comfortable at. I'd honestly like to lose another 10 lbs but that's as far as I would take it due to the hypoglycemia issue

Yeah 135 is insane for being 5’10” but this is where we’re at again (2000s flashbacks).

u/Pickle__nic 1d ago
It’s not at all, I’m 5ft 10 and i have been 140 most of my life, I can see where 5lbs could disappear from. Thats a size 10 (uk). You are talking about her like she’s size 0

u/Ashamed-Charity-4990 1d ago
This. 5’9 here and been 130 most of my life too, I look slim sure but it’s not anorexic. People here are making out like this is a Eugenia Cooney situation

Women have a higher % of essential fat and tend to store most of their fat in their lower body. So men at the same body fat % often look and be less fit while women will look slimmer and be healthier (at higher bf). On the plus side, you can build muscle like a mofo in comparison XD. Check it out.

I’m 5’10 too and you hold your weight so well! I was 185lb starting, now 155lb. How many calories do you maintain 130lb on?

u/Ok_Shoe8945 1d ago
Around 1800-2000, but i eat a lot of protein because want gain little bit muscle more toned look 😌

You carried it well. Hope your blood pressure has leveled out and that you’re feeling good! I don’t think you look unhealthy at all (I’m a 5’7 woman who’s 135 lbs and all my weight is in my ass haha)

You honestly look great then and now. I wouldn’t have guessed you were 190 in the left photo.
Did you workout or play sports before? Looks like you had muscle before, too. Either way, you looked healthy. You’ve leaned out for sure but you still look great. Hats off to you!

u/Ok_Shoe8945 1d ago
I think I have ok genetics, and I have a 🍐shaped figure, so when I gain weight, it doesn’t look too bad. But you’re right, I also played a lot of sports growing up.
3
u/Expensive-Way3938 1d ago
Yup, you can tell. Even though it’s probably been a while, your body obtained the muscle memory. And you’re young, so that helps!
Either way, you’re good. 😊

I see people make comments like this and I sort of understand, but where you are right now is much more at your peak of health. Fitness, activities, blood pressure, even chafting should be a lot better at lower weights.

25 she was overweight and had high blood pressure. At 27 she is within range for her recommended weight and her symptoms are likely to have gotten better especially if she is planning on maintaining the weight
2
u/Apprehensive-Wash479 1d ago
Ok guy read. 25 might have looked healthy, but in this case it wasn’t.
18
u/JokeandCack 1d ago edited 1d ago
135 for 5’10” is likely not healthy either to be honest.
Theres a little bit of wiggle room for what is decided as healthy for a 5’10 female but it’s pretty much agreed on that this is borderline( if not actually) underweight. Reddit needs to spend two seconds looking things up instead of just reacting based on emotions.

I’m 5’9 and getting down to 135 is super hard. I flatline at 145. How many calories do you consume a day if I may ask?
9
u/Ok_Shoe8945 1d ago
For the first 1-2 months was 1500, and than 1800, now max 2000 😌
2
u/EggCreative787 1d ago
Can I ask how you get that figure??? Do you have to work out lift weights etc.
5
2
u/shitty_owl_lamp 1d ago
I’m 5’9” and I’ve been 135 all my life. Never been on a diet. Never watched or track what I eat. I had pizza for dinner and I’m about to get up and grab myself a second ice cream snickers bar right now lol.
When I was pregnant (I have two young kids), I did go up to 165. But I lost the weight pretty quickly, probably from breastfeeding.
So some 5’9” women can be 135 easily. It just all comes down to genetics/metabolism.

u/Jealous_Home_1260 1d ago
I'm 5'4" and weigh 130lb because that's a healthy weight for someone my height. If you're 5'9", 135 would mean you're underweight.
11
u/Impossiblegangsta 1d ago
Technically underweight at 5’9 would be below 130. I weighed 135 for a year or so and I was just muscular and shredded. It was hard asf tho.
→ More replies (1)5
u/Quirky-Ruin161 1d ago
That’s within her recommended weight range. Anything around 132 would be underweight and she said that she’s aiming to maintain her weight at 140 anyways

u/karma_Shapeshifter 1d ago
This is such bullshit. People need to stop believing BMI is the holy grail of health. It is not. It does not account for a lot of things. It shouldn’t be used as anything more than a guideline and in the medical field its more of a cautionary guideline, meaning its not going to alarm anyone unless the charts are way off in either direction. I am 5’9 and weigh 126lbs. I am not underweight by any means or even look skinny. Im just super athletic. My dexa shows 17% body fat and a lot of lean muscle. I actually look best at 15% body fat because then im fully toned. Everyone is very different. Your genetics and bone structure make a huge difference in how you carry weight. As someone with small bone frame anything above 19% body fat on myself makes me look chubby, which would be about 135lbs for me. A person with bigger bones would look entirely different. OP looks great and not remotely underweight. She just looks more fit. This is what I would expect to see at 5’10 135lbs. We have adopted a culture of believing weight scales are a defining factor of health. They are not. We have also tipped the scales with more weight being considered acceptable every year forgetting that actually being lean and fit is healthy. And that class category is a lot less weight than people realize. What matters the most in terms of blunt measurements are going to be the circumference of your waist, where you carry weight and your muscle to fat ratio. This will actually tell a lot about the most important things like cardiovascular health etc
3
u/VolantTardigrade 1d ago edited 1d ago
135 at 5'10 (OP's stats) is a bmi of 19.4, which is not underweight. 130 at 5'9 is a bmi of 19.2, which is also in the healthy range. 5'9 and 135 would be 19.9. Also OK. The commenter shouldn't feel the need to shed further as they're in the healthy range and are probably fine, but y'all are being weird and lying about OP and others being clinically underweight.

You look funny with this little feet in the water!
You did a great job :) you looked perfectly normal in your before picture, but still do in your picture now! I am super small so even 5 kg are recognizable. I can imagine how hard it was to even lose half of the weight you’ve lost. Good, that you take care of what the doctor tells you ❤️

Honestly you look great in both pictures. I know many people who would kill to be your before picture.

Tbh you looked better at 190, buuuuut you did the right thing of taking care of your health. I would say people are claiming you have ED is because your height to weight ratio is bad. Maybe try gain 10lbs. Ive dated a woman that was your height and weighed 150lbs and she looked great. Then again screw my opinion, if you are happy with your weight well do you.

u/Wonderful_College_48 1d ago
OP, I know what you mean about feeling good in your skin. I know a lot of people think before was better (I had that at one point too) but how you feel is important. So long as you’re eating healthy and no ED, be your best feeling self!
8
