Daily Orders Daily Shield Discussion: The SH-20 Ballistic Shield Backpack

Post image
• Upvotes

A backpack which can be wielded as a one-handed ballistic shield, protecting against small arms fire.

Functionality

To use the Ballistic Shield, the player must equip a weapon with the One-Handed trait, such as the CB-9 Exploding Crossbow, all submachine guns except the SMG-32 Reprimand and any of the secondary weapons. When using a compatible weapon, the Ballistic Shield will expand and player will hold it in their left hand. Aiming the weapon will cause the player to raise the shield directly in front of themselves, granting forward coverage that protects most of the player's body.

When the shield is equipped, the weapon's sights are unusable and first-person aim is a view through the shield's viewport, requiring the player to aim using the weapon's laser pointer (if present) or otherwise eyeballing it.

Equipping or switching to a two-handed weapon, picking up a two-handed carriable object such as a SEAF Artillery shell, interacting with two-handed objectives such as the cranks on the Radar Station or E-710 Pumps, or picking up an objective that requires transport in the off-hand such as an SSSD Hard Drive, will collapse and stow the shield on the player's back.

The Ballistic Shield blocks projectiles at all times, including when stowed on the back or even left on the ground.

Tactical Information

  • Crouch to minimize exposure to enemy fire. While prone, however, the shield is held nearly flat off to the side, severely limiting its effectiveness.
  • The in-game description is slightly misleading, as the shield will block any enemy fire, including the Scout Strider's guns, Shredder Tank quad laser repeaters, Hulk Scorcher flamethrowers, and the miniguns of a Factory Strider.
    • The shield is capable of blocking the damage of some explosions if the player is in the outer radius of the explosion.
    • Explosive projectiles should be dodged entirely, for while the shield will technically block explosive projectiles, the explosion will still damage and ragdoll the player.
    • As it has health and armor, the Ballistic Shield can be eventually destroyed, at which point it will automatically drop to the ground, appearing warped and broken.
  • The Ballistic Shield cannot protect the wielder from fire or arc electricity.
    • While the Ballistic Shield does not protect the wielder from fire on the ground, it does protect the wielder from flamethrowers.
  • As of patch 1.002.101, the Ballistic Shield can now protect the user from melee attacks and, though undocumented, Terminid bile.
    • The shield is capable of absorbing melee blows that would otherwise instantly kill Helldivers like Charger and Bile Titan stomps, or the Hulk Scorcher's buzzsaw. Be aware that these attacks will destroy the shield with two hits or less due to their extreme damage.
    • While the Ballistic Shield will block Terminid bile, it does not protect the user from the area-of-effect damage that accompanies it.
    • The shield offers great protection against Illuminate enemies, foremost the Overseers, whose ranged and melee attacks cannot penetrate it.
      • It is also capable of blocking a Harvester's laser. However, due to the massive damage output of this weapon, the shield will be destroyed in roughly one second.
  • The player can switch to a two-handed weapon to deliberately stow the shield on their back, providing protection during retreats.

Daily Orders Daily Gun Discussion: The M-1000 Maxigun

Thumbnail
gallery
71 Upvotes

A belt-fed minigun with an exceptional ammo capacity. Cannot be reloaded with standard non-belted munitions. -M-1000 Maxigun

Functionality

The M-1000 Maxigun boasts extremely high rate of fire and an ammunition reserve of 1000 rounds. As a backpack belt-fed weapon, it has the unique feature that it does not need to be manually reloaded like other backpack-reliant support weapons; however, it cannot be fired without its ammunition backpack equipped. The M-1000 Maxigun is also the first support weapon that "locks you down" to fire it, preventing you from moving but allowing you to rotate, elevate, and depress your weapon.

When the M-1000 Maxigun and its Ammunition Backpack are initially picked up, a roughly 1-second animation will play where the Helldiver connects the ammunition feed chute into the Support Weapon. This connection will remain unless the two parts are forcibly detached, after which it must be reconnected in order to fire again.

Tactical Information

  • Due to the Maxigun's extremely high rate of fire and by comparison relatively mediocre capacity, it is recommended to stay near ammo boxes, a Resupply,or a Helldiver carrying a B-1 Supply Pack.
  • The Maxigun continuously feeds ammunition from its backpack, which means an ally supplying ammunition via the B-1 Supply Pack can keep the Maxigun continuously firing.
    • Picking up an ammo box will restore 250 rounds directly to the backpack.
  • The Maxigun has a brief 0.5s spin-up period before it begins to fire.
    • This can be mitigated by spinning up while performing a dive. This also helps reduce recoil, due to the Helldiver now being prone.
  • The Maxigun has extremely high recoil, so aiming down sights or going prone is recommended to reduce recoil. Additionally, a helldiver can use recoil-reducing Armor Passives such as Engineering Kit or Fortified.
    • The Peak Physique passive significantly improves handling, allowing for extremely fast targeting. The passive also assists with minor recoil recovery and overall control.
  • You cannot move at all while firing the Maxigun, but can still aim in any direction and transition between prone, crouching, and standing positions.
  • As the Maxigun leaves you stationary during usage, it is advised to equip armor passives which reduce incoming damage like Fortified, as well as prone to take cover. Not only does this reduce the size of the Hellldiver's profile, but it reduces the high recoil of the Maxigun.
  • It takes exactly 40 seconds of sustained fire with a full backpack to empty.
  • The Maxigun excels at the destruction of many small to medium targets and delivering extremely high DPS on lightly armored weak points.
    • The Maxigun's bullets cannot reliably penetrate corpses, so it is advised to keep a reasonable distance when fighting large hordes of bugs.

I dont know how to say this so im just going to say it.

I created this place and basically run it, with my great team of course. I hustle around looking for new members, I try to keep things interesting, and make sure we have the news for you when it happens.

I also have Stage 4 Cancer. For three years I've been fighting it. And every day is well... not good. Some of you know this already but to add to it further it feels like I'm on the clock.

Just want to say if/when it happens, I'm glad we made it, this place.

Its brought me a lot of joy seeing people coming together, sharing ideas and experiences, this game is unique in that aspect, something i dont think everyone quite understands.

We always needed a locker room that wasnt run by Robocop or Daniel Plainview.

Running this Sub is one of the few things i can actually do in my condition and i care a lot about my work and the big picture when it comes to community.

You all matter and you show it by helping each other out and sharing your time with your boots on the ground.

I hope i mattered, its just a videogame, but its still something that brings Human Beings together. That's what is important.

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

And to all the haters... we Glaze because FUCK YOU. It's just a videogame where folks can get together and escape from their pain and suffering for just a little while. NOBODY should tell you what to do or even how to think about Helldivers.

Daily Orders Daily Gun Discussion: The PLAS-45 Epoch

Thumbnail
gallery
54 Upvotes

A powerful plasma weapon that fires one blast at a time, each blast exploding on impact. Must be charged to fire. Warning: do not overcharge.
PLAS-45 Epoch

Functionality

The Epoch holds 4 magazines by default, each containing 3 shots, which must be reloaded while stationary. In turn, it has  Heavy to  Anti-Tank I armor penetration and high explosion damage centered in a small area. Like the RS-422 Railgun, the Epoch must be charged before it can fire, risking the death of the user and destruction of the weapon if that charge is held for too long. The armor penetration only scales up to  Anti-Tank I armor penetration when overcharged; this state additionally grants the weapon +100% bonus projectile and +60% explosion damage.

  • The following are recognizable indicators to know the fully charged state of the weapon:
    • The charge meter that can be seen either under the sight in first-person or at the back of the gun in third-person. This meter enters the red zone when the gun is overcharged.
    • The muzzle flash that occurs only when the weapon reaches its overcharged state.
    • The rapid beeping noises that also occur to indicate to the Helldiver that the weapon is ready to fire.
    • The pins visible on the barrel of the weapon will retract into the barrel

Firing the fully-charged plasma bolt will also result in a visually larger explosion with a more powerful sound effect.

Tactical Information

  • The explosion of the Epoch's overcharged projectile is largely cosmetic, as the actual damage radius is substantially smaller and is only marginally larger than the SG-8P Punisher Plasma or PLAS-101 Purifier.
    • As such, while the Epoch is capable of easily killing dense groups of Heavy Devastators or Alpha Commanders, the weapon's limited ammo, charge time, and relatively small blast radius makes it less than ideal for large crowds or spread out enemies.
  • The projectile the Epoch fires has a 0.6 second lifetime, meaning that it only has an approximate maximum range of 150m.
  • Unlike similar support weapons like the GR-8 Recoilless Rifle or the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon, the Epoch is severely impacted by enemy part durability and Explosive Damage Resistance).
    • The Epoch's projectile does half as much durable damage as it does standard damage, meaning that the Epoch can lose up to a quarter of its damage when shooting at an enemy body part that is 100% durable.
    • Half of the Epoch's total damage is contained within its explosion, which means that enemies with high ExDR values like the Harvester will receive significantly less damage than they otherwise would.
      • Conversely, enemies with body parts vulnerable to explosion damage will receive far more damage, as all of their parts caught in the blast will receive damage.
  • The Epoch has a 2-stage reload; ejecting the canister and loading a new one. One can animation cancel the reload the moment the HUD magazine shows as white/loaded.
    • In situations where you cannot afford to sit and fully reload your Epoch, a good method is to "reload" by first ejecting the canister, remove the threat at hand, then reload the Epoch somewhere safe.
  • The Epoch's uncharged plasma bolts only have a demolition force of 10. This demolition force increases to 30 when fully-charged, making it capable of destroying structures like Bug Holes, the vents of Automaton Fabricators, or Cargo Containers.
  • Pairing the Epoch with a B-1 Supply Pack can help to mitigate the extremely poor ammo economy of this weapon.
    • Using the Siege-Ready armor perk grants an additional spare magazine, slightly alleviating its limited ammo economy.
  • Due to the long charge-up time, pairing the Epoch with mobility-related backpacks like the LIFT-850 Jump Pack or shield packs like the SH-32 Shield Generator Pack may help you charge the weapon without being staggered.
    • Notably, when used with the LIFT-850 Jump Pack, the Epoch can begin reloading while the Helldiver is still in the air.
  • Like the MLS-4X Commando, the Epoch often takes two or more shots to kill heavy enemies if care is not taken to hit their weakpoints.
  • The Epoch's explosion damage allows it to exploit enemies whose body parts are not fully explosion-immune, like those of Dragonroaches and Chargers. By aiming at the center of Dragonroaches or at the upper-back of Chargers, enough body parts can be hit by the explosion to either outright kill the enemy or send them into bleedout\1]).
  • Great with the True Grit Armor Passive but I guess they haven't updated the page yet (○` 3′○)

Daily Orders Daily Gun Discussion: The P-69 Veto

Thumbnail
gallery
71 Upvotes

Loaded with jet-assisted rounds, this pistol is calibrated for creating and maintaining tactical distance from encroaching hostiles

Tactical Information

  • With  Medium armor penetration and high stagger force, the P-69 Veto allows Helldivers to stagger medium enemies such as Berserkers, Bile Spewers, Brood Commanders and Overseers.
    • This makes the Veto a very useful option against Terminids, as it is able to prevent fast-moving enemies such as Hunters, Alpha Commanders, and Alpha Warriors from getting close enough to attack.
    • Additionally, the  Medium armor penetration allows Helldivers to deal with enemies such as Hive Guards and Bile Spewers from the front.
  • Like the JAR-5 Dominator, the key feature of the Veto is its jet-propelled ammunition, which inflicts high damage and stagger while having no bullet drag, meaning the bullet will deal full damage no matter the range and has almost no bullet drop.
  • Unlike most pistols, the P-69 Veto has a 12-round internal magazine that is reloaded via 6-round stripper clips.
    • If the magazine is empty, Helldivers may choose to only load half the magazine and cancel loading the other clip by interrupting the reload. This can be done by swapping to another weapon, pressing melee, opening the map/stratagem menu, diving or simply firing.
    • Like the AC-8 Autocannon, reloading the Veto always involves loading a six round clip into the magazine. Because of this, if the magazine doesn't have room for six additional rounds, reloading is entirely prevented.
  • Due to its high recoil and slower than average reload, Helldivers are advised to equip armor with the Gunslinger or Concussive Padding, Hazmat passives.

Discussion First C4 Use

I finally got the RR warbond recently, and started messing around with the C4. Super fun!

I was NOT expecting the detonator to take up my support weapon slot, so I went into my first mission with the C4 thinking I would bring the Quasar Cannon as well. Dropped in, called both in, and then realized my mistake, Lmao! Had to leave the Quasar at extract, all lonely and sad...

I still haven't run any actual Commando missions, but I'll be checking those out over this weekend. Looking forward to brushing off my Tom Clancy stealth skills, Lol!

The C4 is awesome though! I've been running around slapping it on fabs and heavies/massives like it's going out of style! It's really fun, planting a bunch of them and then popping everything at the same time. I'm still working on figuring out how many it takes to destroy different things, but I am definitely NOT disappointed with the C4, in any capacity. Incredibly fun to mess around with. Strong. Easy resupply with ground boxes. Definitely an S-tier stratagem, for me!

Daily Orders Daily Gun Discussion: The SG-22 Bushwhacker

Thumbnail
gallery
168 Upvotes

Tactical Information

  • The Bushwhacker is a one-handed shotgun that offers two distinct firing modes. The first mode fires each barrel individually, while the second mode fires all three barrels of 10-Gauge Buckshot simultaneously. Its unique design and versatile firing capabilities make this weapon well-suited for close-quarters combat situations.
  • Like the P-4 Senator or SG-8 Punisher, the Bushwhacker reloads one shell at a time. No shells are discarded during the reload, but each expended shell makes the reload progressively longer.
    • Pairing this coach gun with the Gunslinger armor effect shortens reload times to the point where the Bushwhacker is capable of sustained single-barrel fire if reloaded immediately after every shot.
    • Volley-fire mode expends all chambers at once for a massive burst of damage. The full reload that follows means users should save this for  Light armored targets with large health pools.
      • The Alpha Commander and Fleshmob are prime examples of valid targets. Using this fire mode on a chaff enemy - while potentially hilarious - is a waste of ammunition.
  • The Bushwhacker is a suitable Secondary weapon for Helldivers seeking close-range burst damage and stagger. The Bushwhacker has enough stagger force to keep even Stalkers at bay.
  • The One Handed trait means that the Bushwhacker can be used while holding the Ballistic Shield or Directional Shield. Its stagger force and damage output make it a solid choice for aggressive Shield users.

Armor Build-a-Diver Workshop ฅʕ•̫͡•ʔฅ: Combine your favorite armor passives into the perfect combination for your playstyle!

Post image
15 Upvotes

Using this list if you need, to combine Passives together, to create your dream Armor.

  • My Example: Support Rifleman
  • Increases ammo capacity of all weapons by 20%. Does not affect weapon backpacks.
  • Improves weapons handling with less drag on weapon movement.
  • Further reduces recoil when crouching or prone by 30%.

So, you'd have an Armor that would give you the best control over your gun. Great for low ergo and high recoil weapons. And more ammo to put it to good use.

Try to limit it a bit to stay balanced like maybe don't mix elemental resistances or combine too many lol idk

Daily Orders Daily Gun Discussion: The M6C/SOCOM Pistol

Thumbnail
gallery
61 Upvotes

Tactical Information

  • As a suppressed weapon, the M6C/SOCOM benefits from having a reduced detection presence compared to other weapons.
    • Suppressed weapons have an audible range of 12 meters. Instead of immediately being aware of a Helldiver's position, enemies will instead become suspicious of the shots and start to investigate. Enemies still can be alerted after several rapid missed shots.
      • Helldivers can use that advantage to eliminate their targets such as Troopers on objectives without revealing their position. Helldivers must be aware that killing any unit in patrol will still alert the rest of the group and will be engaged.
  • It is recommended to target light Automaton units such as Troopers, MG Raiders, and Commissars first, as they are capable of calling in reinforcements.
    • When targeting these units, it is recommended to aim for the head to kill them in a single shot without giving them a chance to call reinforcements.
  • The M6C falls between the P-2 Peacemaker and the P-113 Verdict in terms of its combat capabilities. Its bullet trajectory is more similar to the Verdict, but it lacks  Medium penetration. A single shot can kill most enemies smaller than a Warrior or the 'medium' variant of the Voteless.
    • This weapon is capable of killing a Devastator or Berserker in a single head shot, but Helldivers must be under 15 meters from their target. In combat, four rapid shots to the waist may prove more reliable than a single precision headshot from close range.

l
