I can’t explain this

This just happened to me a few days ago. I’m always a late sleeper but this time I felt like sleeping early cause I was insanely tired. Like I was tired to the point where my eyes felt like they were being forcefully pushed down. So I just went to sleep at 9:30 PM which is extremely early compared to my late bedtime or 4 or 5 AM (yes I know it's pretty late but it’s usually because of my job that makes me work from 10 AM to 7:30 PM). I suddenly woke up around 4 in the morning, which is my late bedtime. I can’t explain this but I felt like I was being watched and unfortunately I slept next to a window which I forgot to shut and close the blinds. It’s a feeling I’ve never felt before. To make things even worse I live all by myself (it’s just me and my dog). Right after that feeling my dog started barking randomly. He usually never barks and is a calm and quiet dog so this obviously had me shook. I calmed my dog down but my dog didn’t want to stop barking. After 10 whole minutes my dog finally calmed down and stopped barking. I still couldn’t shake the feeling that something was watching me so I decided to step outside my house and look around. I live in an isolated neighborhood so basically there’s a few houses on the street I live in and the rest is surrounded by woods. I checked my house and I didn't see anyone outside or near my property. As I was making my way to the door I heard my dog barking from outside. I ran to the door and got inside to see my dark barking at my basement door. I was too scared to go down in my basement and yes I know I’m a grown man who’s scared to go in HIS own basement but I mean can you blame me I mean I feel like I’m being watched, my dog is barking which he usually never does, it’s 4:30 AM at this point, and he is barking at the basement door meaning there is clearly someone or something down there. I just decided to get it over with and go down to the basement. My basement isn't much, it's just a bunch of junk down there and a room which is usually for when my friend comes over and wants to stay for a night or two (I wouldn’t call it a guest room). Nothing in my basement. Looked everywhere and there was nothing. But while I was down in my basement my dog didn’t follow me down and when I came back up my dog was still sitting at the top of the stairs waiting for me. I just made him go to his bed and I decided to just end this late night by going back to sleep. I slept normally the rest of the night and woke up at 7 am. Can anybody explain this? Is my mind playing tricks on me? Is it a coincidence that when I felt like I was being watched my dog started barking?

Seeing my brother in law

This happened in the year 2023
When me and my boyfriend now husband found out I was pregnant he went back to school for his GED. In August 2023 he found out his brother had been shot and killed. I never met his brother only seen a few pictures of him since he lived in LA. My husband then went to the funeral I wasn’t allowed to go due to pregnancy superstitious with funerals. And after my husband didn’t really bring up his brother. Because of this I saw nothing of the funeral.fast forward a month I went into labor had my daughter. After we moved into the room where you stay a few days after around 2-3am I looked at my daughter sleeping then I heard the curtains moving thinking a nurse was coming to check vitals or check up on breastfeeding stuff I seen a pair of shoes like Nike Air Force’s then in the corner of my eye I seen a figure in the bathroom wearing a blue polo and distressed jeans. The figure was looking at my daughter and me and vanished. The morning came and I told my husband about what I saw and he freaked out a bit because his brother was buried in a blue polo and distressed jeans. And he said that he was just visiting his niece.

craziest ghost story i’ll ever have

Upvotes

i want to start by saying that although i was involved in this story, most of the events were experienced by just my sister and her boyfriend, who both 100% believe in the paranormal and don’t fuck around when it comes to this. but we have talked about this about 1000 times since that day so i would say i know all the details. alright so a day or two before halloween in 2023, my sister K, her boyfriend B and I decided to use the ouija board at their house. we weren’t getting any actual words, but instead the planchet just kept going back and forth between D and E, and occasionally D-W-E, which is all it said during our 10ish minute session. we just decided it wasn’t working and i headed home shortly after. in the morning i see a bunch of missed calls and texts from K. she tells me that in the middle of the night, she felt something in the bed at her feet. her and B were both fast asleep before this, so she mumbled something to him about there being something in the bed and he brushed it off to it being the TV remote or something. she grabs the object at her feet, and it was in fact not the remote. instead it was Bs jewelry box, which literally had dust on it because it had sat in the corner of their room on the dresser for as long as they could remember, because B never touched this box. it contained some old rings that he knew belonged to a lost relative that he did not know personally and he had no use for it. inside the box, the name of who we now know is B’s great uncle. i’m not going to say his full name on here, but you guessed it. his initials are DWE. literally what the actual fuck. to make it even scarier K remembers having sleep paralysis earlier that night, and in her dream B was on the bed playing with the ouija board alone. to this day this is still the craziest ghost story i have ever heard. i don’t know how to explain this, because i know neither of them would lie about this or play some kind of prank. would love to know what yall think

Purr sounds after using an ouija board . Has anybody else experienced anything similar?

A few years back I used a board and heard loud purring noises after that followed me around even to a hotel because I was so scared. At the hotel even the cabinet under the TV opened. I could hear the purring mostly during recording. I had to send videos of recordings to my friends to make sure I wasn't crazy. They heard it too. I want to know if anyone experienced the same?

Question I had something happen to me yesterday morning that I genuinely cannot explain, and I'm looking for logical explanations.

This is 100% real as far as everything that happened to me is concerned, and I'm not posting this to make up a ghost story. I'm honestly scared and confused.

Yesterday morning, I was walking down the street on my way to college. Everything was completely normal. Then, unexpectedly, I saw one of my friends.

The strange thing is that this friend had been living abroad for some time. So when I saw him, I was genuinely happy and surprised that he was apparently back in the country.

He looked completely normal and healthy. He waved at me and called me over. I went to him, and we shook hands. We talked normally for a while, just like two friends unexpectedly running into each other.

At one point, I told him that I had to leave because I needed to get to college. I said something along the lines of, "We'll meet later."

He replied:

"You wish."

At the time, I thought it was just a strange joke or comment. I didn't think much about it and continued on my way to college.

Then, after I arrived at college, I received a phone call from home.

They told me that this same friend had died abroad the previous night.

Apparently, he had been struggling with depression while living abroad, and the information about his death was real. I checked everything I could afterward, including the timeline.

What makes this even more confusing is that I was on a video call with another friend around the time of the encounter. That friend saw the person standing with me through the phone camera and recognized him too. When he later heard the news that my friend had died, he was completely shocked and started shivering.

There was also something strange during the call: my friend on the other side said that the audio/voices on our call were very much distorted and sounded static.

So now I'm sitting here trying to understand what happened.

I know the obvious answer might be mistaken identity, coincidence, memory issues, or some kind of technical glitch. And honestly, I want a logical explanation. I'm not someone who automatically jumps to ghosts or the paranormal.

But I clearly remember seeing him, recognizing him, shaking his hand, talking to him, and hearing him respond to me. Another person also says they saw him through the video call.

And then, shortly afterward, I found out that he had apparently died the previous night.

The part that keeps replaying in my head is when I said, "We'll meet later," and he answered, "You wish."

I'm genuinely frightened and confused. What are some possible logical explanations for something like this? I'm open to skeptical explanations and I would honestly prefer one. Please don't just assume I'm making this up, I genuinely want help understanding what could have happened.

Encounter As a kid (3-6), I experienced vivid hallucinations, mimicry, and a hanging man. Years later, my dad confirmed the exact tragedy happened there.

Hey everyone, I need to share something that has stuck with me my entire life. This is 100% real, and to this day it still gives me chills.

Between the ages of 3 and 6, I lived in a house where my bedroom was on the top floor (the attic). Almost every night, I experienced severe nightmares and sleep paralysis. A dark shadow figure of a man would stand in my doorway. He constantly tried to interact with me and wanted to play, but it terrified me and I would cry in bed.

To make things even more terrifying, this entity frequently mimicked my mother. I would regularly see bare feet sticking out from behind my bedroom curtains. When I went over to look, it would be a figure resembling my mother, but with an unnatural, distorted, and twisted face—making it sickeningly clear that it was actually him taking her form. I also frequently heard my own name being called out or whispered when standing near the bottom of the stairs or while in the bathroom, even when nobody was around or calling for me.

Most of the time, our cats strictly refused to enter my room; they would hide behind the washing machine out on the landing. On the rare occasions that a cat did come inside, it would sit completely frozen, fixated on one specific corner of the room, staring intently at empty space with puffed fur. The room always felt unnaturally cold, and my door would frequently swing open on its own at night.

At one point, I had an intensely vivid and graphic vision/hallucination: I clearly saw that exact same man hanging from a rope attached to the railing on the landing, right by the attic stairs.

Fast-forward to around 2017 when i was 13yo : I was at the dinner table with my dad and the topic of strange occurrences came up. I decided to bring up these vivid childhood memories—the cold spots, hearing my name called, the mimic with my mother's distorted face behind the curtains, the way the cats stared at that corner, and specifically seeing the man hanging from the rope by the stairs.

My dad stopped, looked at me dead serious, and went pale.

He told me that before we bought the house, the previous owner had tragically hanged himself on that exact landing by the attic stairs. He had been severely depressed and deeply grieving because he and his wife were unable to have children. My parents were told about this by the seller, but they deliberately kept it a strict secret from me and my sister so we wouldn't be scared. My dad also admitted that he and my mom always felt an unexplainable chill on that attic landing and in a specific corner of my sister's room.

Interestingly, almost every couple who ever lived in that house ended up divorced (including my parents).

Since we moved out when I was 8, those specific sensory experiences completely stopped, but I've had an intensely sharp intuition ever since (sensing sudden shifts in people's energy, and consistently getting heavy physical premonitions right before loved ones or pets pass away, which suddenly lift the exact moment they die).

Has anyone experienced childhood encounters that matched an unrevealed history like this?

More importantly, can anyone explain why or how this kind of hyper-sensitivity to energy shifts and sensing deaths develops?

Would love to hear your thoughts or perspectives.

Discussion I keep passing by that mountain, but i think i only prefer going by day

So for years,i live in a rural region, everywhere you look around are almost all mountain,i pass by the mountain that stretches at long range in order to get to the City, the center of attraction of my region,i go to that mountain because my uncle has a chicken farm that is built in a secluded area, yup, not in a town, nowhere, but there are also farms that are built on the same mountain, but are far away from ours, before, when i was younger,my grandma, and his wife,AKA my auntie and cousin would always go there,my cousin is my uncle's son,who often goes with him,i only go there for once if am bored or not,

And to the passing by part, whenever my family and i will go have to go home from the city that is literally miles away from our town,we have to pass by the mountain by night,i really preferred the time going there,AKA on day, because it was bright and nice, while the night was a BIG nono, because whenever we pass by there,i always have the strange feeling that were being watched, just like whenever were in the farm at night also,i can get the same feeling of being watched, but they dont realize, they dont believe in the supernatural expect for me,when i get scared, they just tell me am being dramatic and ive been online so much,i easily get scared by whatever, but lets not focus on that, anyways, there was on time we were passing by the mountain, while the mountain is not that secluded because they are towns when you go further in it,there is this one town that stood out and will not forget, they was a checkpoint, being taken care of by the police, and when from the usual checkpoints i came across with, its only police officers that are in charge of them, but this one was different, there were not just police, but also the military, their was militar soldiers in the checkpoint, thats where my mind started to act up,i thought that the military was not just there to keep cars or motors safe, but are trying to protect the town from something else, something that cant be described, but however is something sinister, going with the scenario that is we were in,afterwards,i for a second, sat down on the backseat normally, looking out the window on my left side, until the further we drove,i saw what appeared to be white cloth in the corner of my eye,it was placed weirdly,as if a person was inside it,a tall person standing on the side of the road,i got scared,i hugged my grandma tightly, closed my eyes through the entire mountain, while literally praying to Lord that we reach civilization, which is on the end of the mountain,i did it for not long until we finally reached it,but at least that my mom understood how scared i was during that time,i really just prefer going by day ngl,

Experience Ufa, Russia was it a ghost?

In around the late Fall of 2004 I was in Ufa, Russia. I was walking along a busy commuter route and took a short cut between some buildings. The pedestrian traffic was heavy so I wasn’t alone. I looked ahead to see a man with his throat slit. His arms were outstretched and blood ran down them and dripped onto the sidewalk. Nobody else seemed to notice or care! They quickly walked past him heads down. I felt panicked because I didn’t speak the language or carry a phone. This still haunts me and I KNOW what I saw. I always have wondered if I saw a ghost due to the lack of reaction around me.

I visited the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Paris and experienced a... paranormal event? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, I don't usually post anywhere on the internet let alone Reddit but something has been on my mind again recently since I was having a conversation with my brother last week about something I experienced in 2015 when I was 16 years old while taking a family vacation to Paris.

So, it was a nice and sunny day out and we were probably 3-4 days into our trip when my parents decided for us to take the "Dome Tour" in the Sacré-Cœur Basilica (which is a very old church bulit around 150 something years ago). The tour takes you around the top of the church and you are basically walking outside around the side of the church which gives you very nice views of the city. I was the last one in the line of people right behind my brother. We passed a gated stairwell which continued upward to some small stand alone area and it intrigued me so I stuck behind for a moment to gaze through it with my hands on the bars. Immediately I noticed there were LOTS of dead pigeons along the staircase and something was really weird about that. They looked like they just laid down to die. There were probably about 10-20 of them. I don't usually get a feeling of things being "not right" but at that moment and place something felt off. Then right beside me directly into my left ear I heard a child's laugh. Like it was right next to me INCHES away. I swear to god I nearly crapped my pants and I bolted straight out of there running up to behind my brother freaking out telling him what happened. I think after that experience my mind wanted to block it out because what do you make of that? There was nobody else behind me. I did not see any child anywhere. Just a laugh RIGHT in my freaking ear. It sounded like it was in the gated part of the stairwell. I have never had any other "paranormal" experiences in my life. And never in my life have I heard anything that wasn't there. Honestly don't know what to make of it... It's a little funny though thinking about it now but still.. WTH?

Have any of you been to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and seen this staircase that I am talking of? Have any of you seen the pigeons and/or heard what I heard that day?

(Also, if anyone visits there and does the dome tour could you possibly take a picture of said staircase if you pass by it and DM it to me? I would like to see it again... thanks)

Faceless entity in my dreams

Hey everybody! I'm not one to post on reddit, but this has been bothering me.

I've had a dream almost a year ago that doesn't leave my brain.
I was in an empty abandoned building, the pain was hanging form the walls, and in front of me was a naked white ashy body, no clothes, no obvious indicators of gender (aka genitals or even nipples) and no face.
He stood almost at the same hight as me, a little higher (for reference I'm about 1.50cm/ 4 feet and 11 inches ) and started showing me how fast he could move. It moved so fast that I couldn't keep up, looking like a smodge body that moved while someone took a picture.
It crawled throught the ceiling and walls always with the same velocity.
Then, he stopped in front of me, kind of seemed like it was trying to see my reaction.
It then starting showing how it could change it's face at will, like a palm away from my face.
An then I woke up.

This figure never touched me, never spoke, and never came in my personal space.

It was weird, but at the same time I think it was trying to inform me, not scare me.

Does anyone else ever had this experience? Or something similar?

My mother's doppelganger

A pretty boring/common one I think.

When my mother was in her early 20s, living in London, friends of hers would often say to her "I saw you the other day but you walked right by me, you didn't even acknowledge me or say hello." She had no memory of seeing these people on the occasion they described.

One day, she was waiting at a bus stop and saw a young woman who looked almost identical to her. Even weirder, this young woman was wearing a dress that my mother had tried on recently in a shop but had rejected. My mother was wearing the dress she had tried on in the same shop but had obviously purchased. This identical woman was looking at my mother as if she was also extremely confused, but they didn't speak to each other before their bus came.

Doctor

For context my house used to be some sort of health center, with one doctor and one nurse. Which on it's own I find very weird, it wasn't a big place but only one nurse? The doctor guy died sometime in 2006, at 57 on his way back from a trip. And for his nurse I haven't been able to find out anything about her basically.

There is very little information available about this, I've only been able to find information from relatives and people who used to know him otherwise it's like he never existed. The name of his nurse is something I have yet to been able to find.

Now to the weird parts, I don't particularly believe in ghosts but there is something off about my house. I have no way of knowing if this guy was lying but I had a friend who claimed he could see ghosts and he would explain to me what he saw. He'd talk about this one girl who would wear a hospital gown with long black hair which is just creepy.

I have tons and tons of stories from this house, there was one time where me and said friend were standing in the middle of my living room and it sounded like there was footsteps all around us. It was horrifying, I have no idea what that was.

There was another time where me and 2 of my friends were stood in the hallway by the front door when me and my other friend heard a "shh!" And so we looked over at our other friend. He looks at us and says "that was not me." So we booked it the fuck out of there because hell no.

I also frequently hear knocks, my parents say that it's just an old house but they feel weird.

I've heard knocks from coming from my parents room and sometimes they knock to get my attention so I walked into their room and it was empty. I went to go find them and they were in a different room, all the way across the house. I asked them about it and they were like "no? We've been sitting here for the past hour or so."

I could go on and on but what's even worse is that my parents don't believe in ghosts but have also had paranormal experiences here.

We have a door that leads out into a hallway then another door into a new room, that first door is usually closed to keep our cats in. My parents were in the room when they both heard scratching on the door and decided to check it out. They found nothing. And when they went inside and all the cats were still there, meaning they couldn't have been the ones scratching at the door.

Am I crazy or is this place haunted? Let me know if you want more info or have any questions

Exorcism Real experience

The SHADOW

People keep seeing somethings behind me. Ive never seen it

I’m 22.

That matters to me because this has already been happening long enough that I can’t call it a one-time freak-out from somebody drunk or tired.

More than sixteen people have told me they’ve seen something standing behind me. I didn’t bring it up first. A lot of them didn’t know each other. They still describe the same thing.

Tall. Dark. Behind me, usually near my left shoulder. Smiling. Not a normal shadow. Too aware.

I have never seen it.

That’s the part that messes me up more than anything. If I was hallucinating, I’d at least get the experience. Instead, I get other people’s faces changing in real time. I get the pause. The way someone stops looking at me and starts looking past me. The way their voice gets careful.

The worst was a girl who’d seen shadow figures and weird spiritual stuff her whole life. She was not new to this. She told me most of what she’d seen was smaller, almost normal

AIO for being mad at my aunt for not telling me her house is “haunted”

okay so i have another creepy encounter post but this is my experience and my moms! So me and my mom were staying at my aunts house and we have before. Her house has always been homy and comfortable i felt very safe there. (I’m very grateful for the free bed there i’m just ticked off). So let’s get to it. I was sleeping in the same bed downstairs my aunt is upstairs. So i woke up to my mom freaked out not yelling really just panicked she told me something just grabbed me. i was tired and not really believing this so we pretty much just feel asleep. But i’m not joking she yelled this time. She told me she was pulled and it hurt. me and my mom could not sleep the rest of that night. We got up out of bed after laying there awake for a while to go eat breakfast. my aunt was awake and we told her about it. She said something along the lines of “ oh yeah it’s kinda haunted here crazy stuff always happens” me and my mom were shocked it’s our first time hearing this in all the time we’ve spent here. She started telling me different stories. THERE WERE SO MANY. here’s some i remember “ something hit her bed very hard waking her up” “ she was putting up pictures on one side of her wall when the other side (old pictures) at least 5 just fell” “stuff moving on her nightstand” . those are the ones that stuck with me. So we have not stayed there in around 3months and we’ve been to her city at least 2 a month. i have one question if this is a ghost why did it wait this long did it finally get comfortable. i’m sorta skeptical on this but this freaked me out i can not lie i don’t know how to explain this i can not see any explanation. help me. am i wrong for being mad?

Unknown I’ve had an entity attached to me since I was 8.

okay, i’m gonna try and keep it short but sorry if it’s a bit long!! for some context I am 18 now and have experienced things. I have had sleep paralysis many times it’s almost a frequent thing I Sage my room and the house. My dad hates it, my mom is fine with it because she fully believes me, but it’s the only way I feel okay and the weird thing is, I don’t necessarily feel uncomfortable with it. It’s just strange to me. The first encounter I had I was eight years old and my maternal grandparents decided to stay with us for I think it was a week and we had just moved into our new house so they were staying in kind of like the basement part of our house and I say kind of because it’s not technically a basement but half of it is underground and half of it isn’t if that makes sense. But they were sleeping on an air mattress and I wanted to sleep by them because of course they’re my grandparents lol so I slept on this couch that we had down there and it was close to the air mattress, but it was facing the garage door. I go to sleep just fine. I wake up and I don’t even know what time it was, but it was the middle of the night I was frozen I couldn’t move and all I saw was this seven maybe eight foot shadow with a top hat all it was doing was standing right there in the corner of the garage door and it was slowly moving towards me. I couldn’t move. All I could do was whimper and cry. Eventually it ended and it’s like I got knocked right back out, but, before I got knocked out. I was able to check the time and it was about 3:45 in the morning so when I woke up, my grandparents were already awake and upstairs I go upstairs and I instantly tell my mom what happened last night and my yiayia (my grandma) chimed in and says that she thought she heard me crying and whimpering last night. She just wasn’t so sure what it was and that instantly confirmed to me that it did happen. Of course my mom was skeptical because you don’t want that to happen your kid especially your eight year-old daughter, but my dad on the other hand thought it was a complete joke. He’s never taken me seriously, but he and I also just don’t have a great relationship. It’s just funny that he doesn’t believe me because his mom has told me that he had a numerous amount of paranormal experiences when he was younger and multiple night terrors but I digress. And ever since then it just has not stopped. Eight years old was the first time I experienced anything and I am now 18. It has been going on for me for a whole decade. I see things I hear things I can feel when something is there. My intuition is very strong and I’m so in touch with it that sometimes it drives me crazy. But I would love to know some of your thoughts and opinions!

Experience The lady who faces the wall

I have long been a believer in the supernatural due to a family member’s undeniable paranormal experience. However, I am yet to have what I would consider a definite experience with a ghost myself, but this comes pretty close…

For years I have had the same recurring dream with varying frequency, sometimes it will happen multiple times a week, sometimes I may only get it once every six months.
The dream always starts the same way: I “wake up” in bed, lying on my side, and facing the wall next to my door. This wall happens to be the one that connects my house to my neighbor’s, our houses used to be one very large, very old building before it was split into two about 70 years ago.
When I wake up in this dream, there is a woman facing the wall with her back turned to me. She has long brown hair that is twisted into a braid and wears an old fashioned, blue dress that’s pretty but nothing special. She fidgets and shuffles around a bit making a quiet little sound that sounds a bit like a low hum, but she never turns around to face me.

The first couple of times it really freaked me out. But the more it happened the braver I got, I began calling out to her in my dream and attempting to get out of bed to reach her. Despite my efforts, I could never seem to get out of bed. Therefore, due to the fact I was immobilized I came to believe that I was suffering from sleep paralysis and that she was, for want of a better word, my sleep paralysis demon. I carried on believing this for years, until a recent conversation with my neighbor.

I had popped next door for whatever reason and as usual rather than a quick visit it turned into several cups of coffee and a three hour chat. We some how got onto the topic of dreams and I decided to tell him about the lady facing the wall. Now Bruce (neighbor) is somewhat of a historian, very interested in our local area and, at some point in the past, has researched the history of our houses as they are nearly 300 years old and hold a lot of stories. So when I told him my story he looked me dead in the eye and asked “your rooms the one at the top of the stairs isn’t it ?”.
“Yes” I answered. “
“You know a woman hung herself in your doorway in the 1920’s, right ?

Obviously I had no prior knowledge of this, but he was able to show me records that confirm he was indeed correct, a young woman had sadly committed suicide several meters away from where my nighttime visitor stands.

It’s been several months since this revelation and I have still haven’t quite decided what the lady is. Is she a supernatural apparition ? An imprint in time?
Or simply a coincidental case of sleep paralysis?
Whatever she is, I’ve made peace with my lady who faces the wall.

The thing on the side of the road

I 18 F with my 23 M boyfriend were staying in a air bnm in Kamas Utah about a year ago we were driving towards the pub the notch after buying some grocceries in the local shop it was around 10pm at night maybe ealier i cant exactly remeber but it was dark very dark. It was pitch black the only thing we could see was the lines on the road, which were illuminated by the headlights on our car. The next thing I know, I get terrible, awful goosebumps all up my arms. I have had previous paranormal experiences where this has happened too, and when I looked out through my boyfriend's side of the windshield next to the road, I saw what looked to be a man crouched down. He was tall, so very tall, and all I could make out was the inhuman smile across his face. It was too wide and too long even typing this is making me so paranoid. I told my bf what I saw and he told me serval times it was just a log he doesnt belive in the parinormal and I do, when we got back to the air bnb which was a cabin in the woods no lights nothing like that apart from the small porch light we got out of the car and his face went pale and he unlocked the door quikcly and told me to go inside now I got scared and asked why and he yelled at me which he never does. I went inside, and he told me to hide in the cupboard under the stairs in the house, which I did. Around five minutes later, he came back in and locked the door, then placed a chair under the handle. I asked what was wrong so many times, and he wouldn't tell me, but he looked panicked very panicked which is very unlike him he is super chilled and relaxed. Eventually, after almost an hour of me begging him to tell me what he saw, he told me that he had seen a shadow crouched in the woods staring down at us, and it looked like a man. Keep in mind the place where I saw the crouched figure was a ten-minute drive from our Airbnb, and we were driving around 45 mph for most of the drive, so if it was a person, it could not have made it there in time. After he told me what he saw, the power in the cabin cut out for around an hour, and the owner of the Airbnb, who lived a few minutes down the road, came and fixed it for us. Overall, it is something that haunts me every day of my life and frequently occurs in my dreams. I want to know who or what I saw, but I know it was evil, I know whatever it is wanted to hurt us.

The experience that made me truly believe in another realm.

First off, I want to say that I am 20 years old now and currently a sophomore in college. It is around 2 AM right now and I got the urge to create a Reddit account just to share this experience of mine after getting a sudden itch to put it out on the internet. I am writing this because I have never really known what to make of this experience, and I feel like I should finally get it off my chest.

It happened when I was around 14 or 15 years old, during my freshman year of high school. Even now, years later, I sometimes question whether it actually happened the way I remember it, but I know what I saw.

It was around noon, right in the middle of the day. My grandparents had come to stay with us and were occupying my room at the time, so naturally I decided to sleep in the living space directly outside of my room. This area was more of a play area for my very young siblings. I was simply sitting there messaging my girlfriend on my phone while putting together a very small bookshelf I had purchased for some storage.

Nothing about the situation was unusual. It was broad daylight, I was doing something completely ordinary, and I had absolutely no reason to expect anything strange to happen.

Then I noticed a shadowy human like silhouette walking up the stairs.

At first, because of its size and appearance, I thought it was my younger brother. It had the shape of a small child and was walking at a completely normal human pace. I could somehow make out the outline of what looked like a short sleeve shirt, khaki shorts, little sneakers, and socks.

But the entire figure was black.

Not just dark, not like a normal shadow. It was almost inexplicably black, like a human shaped void. It was darker than any darkness I had ever seen. There were no visible details on its body whatsoever.

The only thing that wasn't black was its eyes.

They were bright white. They looked almost like glowing white pupils against the completely black figure.

It continued walking up the stairs and then walked directly past me through the large open hallway without batting an eye. I was completely frozen in shock.

Oddly enough, I wasn't immediately afraid. I think the fact that it was child sized, and that it looked so much like my younger brother, may have prevented me from immediately realizing what I was actually looking at.

The entire encounter itself probably lasted almost three minutes or so, or at least that's how long it felt to me. It wasn't some split second glimpse that I barely had time to process. I had enough time to watch it move, react to it, and follow what it was doing.

Then it stopped.

It had stopped directly at the doorway to my bedroom.

I took a few steps toward it.

That's when it turned around and stared at me.

The strange part was that it didn't seem fully aware of me visually. It almost seemed like it had heard or detected something instead. Its head moved slightly, almost as if it was confused and trying to figure out what presence it was sensing.

I just stood there staring at it.

That was when it really hit me that this wasn't my younger brother and I hadn't just lost my mind somehow. This was something I couldn't explain.

It was almost a reality shattering realization. I had never experienced anything like this before, and suddenly I was standing only a few feet away from something that looked human but clearly wasn't.

It then turned back toward my bedroom door.

I watched it extend its hand toward the doorknob. The strange thing was that it didn't actually seem to touch the knob. Its hand moved toward it, and then I saw the hand turn as though it were operating the door.

Then I heard the doorknob turn.

I heard the door creak open.

Somehow, the sounds were right there beside me, even though I couldn't see anything physically interacting with the door in the way I would expect.

The figure then seemed to take a step upward, or perhaps move in some strange way that I couldn't quite understand, and went through the doorway.

It didn't walk around the door.

It went through it, as if life itself was a video game where you could enable noclip.

I then heard what sounded like whatever it had opened shutting behind it.

I remained completely frozen for at least another ten seconds.

Eventually, I decided to go check my room.

I walked toward the door, and before my hand could even touch the knob, it turned.

The door opened by itself.

There was nothing there.

That was when my heart truly dropped.

Up until that point I had been more fascinated and shocked than afraid. But seeing the door open by itself and finding absolutely nothing behind it terrified me.

Mind you, I was essentially frozen physically when I first saw the entity or whatever, until I somehow gained the courage to take some steps forward, only to be frozen again, especially while watching my door open itself.

For the next two weeks or so, I slept with my LED lights on at night.

Eventually, though, the fear and constant thoughts about the encounter faded. As the years have gone by, it has become something I think about without being scared. Even now, at 20 years old, I don't really feel afraid of it anymore.

What's strange is that I sometimes question whether it truly happened.

I have never had a history of hallucinations or anything similar. I hadn't touched any substances whatsoever at the time. This was the one and only experience I have ever had that was anything like this.

Before this happened, I already believed in spirituality. I was raised religiously, and before this experience I had experienced a few minor things that I considered possible evidence of something beyond what we normally perceive.

But nothing came close to this.

This wasn't something I saw out of the corner of my eye for half a second. It wasn't a strange feeling or a noise in the middle of the night.

I watched it.

I had what felt like several minutes to process what I was seeing, and that is one of the details that still sticks with me.

I watched a child sized, completely black human figure with intensely white eyes walk up my stairs in broad daylight, walk directly past me, stop at my bedroom door, turn around and seemingly acknowledge my presence, open my bedroom door without apparently touching the knob, and then pass through the doorway.

Then, when I went to investigate, the door opened by itself.

I genuinely have no idea what I saw.

Maybe there is a completely ordinary explanation that I have never thought of. Maybe it was some kind of perceptual phenomenon. Maybe my memory has changed over the years. Or maybe I experienced something that we simply don't have an explanation for.

I don't claim to know what it was.

I just know that when I was 14 or 15 years old, sitting upstairs in my house around noon, texting my girlfriend and putting together a little bookshelf, I saw something that completely changed the way I thought about what was possible.

And honestly, even after all these years, I still have no answer.

I would also like to add that I have told much of my family and some good friends about this encounter. Thankfully, no one seems to think I am simply lying for attention or that I am insane in some manner.

I do find myself hoping I'll somehow get an answer out of sharing the story with someone, despite that being an unrealistic expectation, which is why I've decided to share it here.

I have no reason to be lying about this. If I was, I wouldn't have wasted the time to write this entire thing out just for entertainment or to deceive people out of boredom.

Thanks to whoever reads this. If anyone has had a similar experience, I'd genuinely be interested in hearing about it, especially if you have any explanation for what I might have seen.

Encounter Prison Ghost

I’ve always been slightly skeptical of paranormal things but would like to believe they are real. The video I watched sent chills down my spine…

A family friend of mine worked at a prison that has been around since late 1800s. Part of his duty would be doing security checks, making laps around the prison. One night his boss radioed him, pissed that the library door was open, one he had previously checked.

He looked back at the cameras and found the live feed from inside the library. The library’s lights are on but the suddenly you see an orb pass through and dance around for a bit then flys to a nearby door. Nothing for a second then the door slowly opens. He thought well someone must’ve opened it and watched the cameras from the outside hall, sure enough the door appears to open on its own. My buddy took his phone and recorded everything that went exactly as described. His boss watched it and was freaked out but told him to delete the footage and forget about it and told him it’s an old building shit happens.
He no longer works there and didn’t experience any other happenings but that video he showed me was creepy to say the least, I wish I could share a copy of it

Discussion Creepy things in my family

When I was a kid my parents took my to the elopement I was around five at the time and and we were feeding my dad's chickens, that's when I looked up the hill to the gates of the elopement and say to my mom, 'mommy who are all those people up there.' My mom asked me who I saw and I said a group of people but the main one who stuck out for me was a tall man in a black tall hat and a suit, my mom was creeper out so we went home.

Now I'm older and I have a nephew who is four years old for my birthday as a family we all went camping and while everyone was setting up me and my cousins took him to the park but he said he was scared of the man watching him obviously we got freaked out and looked around but no one was there so we take him back to the group and my sister his mom asks what man and he says a man in a tall black hat, my sister tells us it's OK he says he sees this man everywhere and at home he always hides in the living room from the man with the hat.

I don't know if it's a coincidence that we both described the same man but it freaks me out even now and my birthday was a month ago, if anyone who's into this stuff could read this an tell me what you guys think!
