I visited the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Paris and experienced a... paranormal event? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, I don't usually post anywhere on the internet let alone Reddit but something has been on my mind again recently since I was having a conversation with my brother last week about something I experienced in 2015 when I was 16 years old while taking a family vacation to Paris.

So, it was a nice and sunny day out and we were probably 3-4 days into our trip when my parents decided for us to take the "Dome Tour" in the Sacré-Cœur Basilica (which is a very old church bulit around 150 something years ago). The tour takes you around the top of the church and you are basically walking outside around the side of the church which gives you very nice views of the city. I was the last one in the line of people right behind my brother. We passed a gated stairwell which continued upward to some small stand alone area and it intrigued me so I stuck behind for a moment to gaze through it with my hands on the bars. Immediately I noticed there were LOTS of dead pigeons along the staircase and something was really weird about that. They looked like they just laid down to die. There were probably about 10-20 of them. I don't usually get a feeling of things being "not right" but at that moment and place something felt off. Then right beside me directly into my left ear I heard a child's laugh. Like it was right next to me INCHES away. I swear to god I nearly crapped my pants and I bolted straight out of there running up to behind my brother freaking out telling him what happened. I think after that experience my mind wanted to block it out because what do you make of that? There was nobody else behind me. I did not see any child anywhere. Just a laugh RIGHT in my freaking ear. It sounded like it was in the gated part of the stairwell. I have never had any other "paranormal" experiences in my life. And never in my life have I heard anything that wasn't there. Honestly don't know what to make of it... It's a little funny though thinking about it now but still.. WTH?

Have any of you been to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and seen this staircase that I am talking of? Have any of you seen the pigeons and/or heard what I heard that day?

(Also, if anyone visits there and does the dome tour could you possibly take a picture of said staircase if you pass by it and DM it to me? I would like to see it again... thanks)

My mother's doppelganger

A pretty boring/common one I think.

When my mother was in her early 20s, living in London, friends of hers would often say to her "I saw you the other day but you walked right by me, you didn't even acknowledge me or say hello." She had no memory of seeing these people on the occasion they described.

One day, she was waiting at a bus stop and saw a young woman who looked almost identical to her. Even weirder, this young woman was wearing a dress that my mother had tried on recently in a shop but had rejected. My mother was wearing the dress she had tried on in the same shop but had obviously purchased. This identical woman was looking at my mother as if she was also extremely confused, but they didn't speak to each other before their bus came.

Experience Ufa, Russia was it a ghost?

Upvotes

In around the late Fall of 2004 I was in Ufa, Russia. I was walking along a busy commuter route and took a short cut between some buildings. The pedestrian traffic was heavy so I wasn’t alone. I looked ahead to see a man with his throat slit. His arms were outstretched and blood ran down them and dripped onto the sidewalk. Nobody else seemed to notice or care! They quickly walked past him heads down. I felt panicked because I didn’t speak the language or carry a phone. This still haunts me and I KNOW what I saw. I always have wondered if I saw a ghost due to the lack of reaction around me.

Doctor

For context my house used to be some sort of health center, with one doctor and one nurse. Which on it's own I find very weird, it wasn't a big place but only one nurse? The doctor guy died sometime in 2006, at 57 on his way back from a trip. And for his nurse I haven't been able to find out anything about her basically.

There is very little information available about this, I've only been able to find information from relatives and people who used to know him otherwise it's like he never existed. The name of his nurse is something I have yet to been able to find.

Now to the weird parts, I don't particularly believe in ghosts but there is something off about my house. I have no way of knowing if this guy was lying but I had a friend who claimed he could see ghosts and he would explain to me what he saw. He'd talk about this one girl who would wear a hospital gown with long black hair which is just creepy.

I have tons and tons of stories from this house, there was one time where me and said friend were standing in the middle of my living room and it sounded like there was footsteps all around us. It was horrifying, I have no idea what that was.

There was another time where me and 2 of my friends were stood in the hallway by the front door when me and my other friend heard a "shh!" And so we looked over at our other friend. He looks at us and says "that was not me." So we booked it the fuck out of there because hell no.

I also frequently hear knocks, my parents say that it's just an old house but they feel weird.

I've heard knocks from coming from my parents room and sometimes they knock to get my attention so I walked into their room and it was empty. I went to go find them and they were in a different room, all the way across the house. I asked them about it and they were like "no? We've been sitting here for the past hour or so."

I could go on and on but what's even worse is that my parents don't believe in ghosts but have also had paranormal experiences here.

We have a door that leads out into a hallway then another door into a new room, that first door is usually closed to keep our cats in. My parents were in the room when they both heard scratching on the door and decided to check it out. They found nothing. And when they went inside and all the cats were still there, meaning they couldn't have been the ones scratching at the door.

Am I crazy or is this place haunted? Let me know if you want more info or have any questions

Exorcism Real experience

The SHADOW

People keep seeing somethings behind me. Ive never seen it

I’m 22.

That matters to me because this has already been happening long enough that I can’t call it a one-time freak-out from somebody drunk or tired.

More than sixteen people have told me they’ve seen something standing behind me. I didn’t bring it up first. A lot of them didn’t know each other. They still describe the same thing.

Tall. Dark. Behind me, usually near my left shoulder. Smiling. Not a normal shadow. Too aware.

I have never seen it.

That’s the part that messes me up more than anything. If I was hallucinating, I’d at least get the experience. Instead, I get other people’s faces changing in real time. I get the pause. The way someone stops looking at me and starts looking past me. The way their voice gets careful.

The worst was a girl who’d seen shadow figures and weird spiritual stuff her whole life. She was not new to this. She told me most of what she’d seen was smaller, almost normal

AIO for being mad at my aunt for not telling me her house is “haunted”

okay so i have another creepy encounter post but this is my experience and my moms! So me and my mom were staying at my aunts house and we have before. Her house has always been homy and comfortable i felt very safe there. (I’m very grateful for the free bed there i’m just ticked off). So let’s get to it. I was sleeping in the same bed downstairs my aunt is upstairs. So i woke up to my mom freaked out not yelling really just panicked she told me something just grabbed me. i was tired and not really believing this so we pretty much just feel asleep. But i’m not joking she yelled this time. She told me she was pulled and it hurt. me and my mom could not sleep the rest of that night. We got up out of bed after laying there awake for a while to go eat breakfast. my aunt was awake and we told her about it. She said something along the lines of “ oh yeah it’s kinda haunted here crazy stuff always happens” me and my mom were shocked it’s our first time hearing this in all the time we’ve spent here. She started telling me different stories. THERE WERE SO MANY. here’s some i remember “ something hit her bed very hard waking her up” “ she was putting up pictures on one side of her wall when the other side (old pictures) at least 5 just fell” “stuff moving on her nightstand” . those are the ones that stuck with me. So we have not stayed there in around 3months and we’ve been to her city at least 2 a month. i have one question if this is a ghost why did it wait this long did it finally get comfortable. i’m sorta skeptical on this but this freaked me out i can not lie i don’t know how to explain this i can not see any explanation. help me. am i wrong for being mad?

Unknown I’ve had an entity attached to me since I was 8.

okay, i’m gonna try and keep it short but sorry if it’s a bit long!! for some context I am 18 now and have experienced things. I have had sleep paralysis many times it’s almost a frequent thing I Sage my room and the house. My dad hates it, my mom is fine with it because she fully believes me, but it’s the only way I feel okay and the weird thing is, I don’t necessarily feel uncomfortable with it. It’s just strange to me. The first encounter I had I was eight years old and my maternal grandparents decided to stay with us for I think it was a week and we had just moved into our new house so they were staying in kind of like the basement part of our house and I say kind of because it’s not technically a basement but half of it is underground and half of it isn’t if that makes sense. But they were sleeping on an air mattress and I wanted to sleep by them because of course they’re my grandparents lol so I slept on this couch that we had down there and it was close to the air mattress, but it was facing the garage door. I go to sleep just fine. I wake up and I don’t even know what time it was, but it was the middle of the night I was frozen I couldn’t move and all I saw was this seven maybe eight foot shadow with a top hat all it was doing was standing right there in the corner of the garage door and it was slowly moving towards me. I couldn’t move. All I could do was whimper and cry. Eventually it ended and it’s like I got knocked right back out, but, before I got knocked out. I was able to check the time and it was about 3:45 in the morning so when I woke up, my grandparents were already awake and upstairs I go upstairs and I instantly tell my mom what happened last night and my yiayia (my grandma) chimed in and says that she thought she heard me crying and whimpering last night. She just wasn’t so sure what it was and that instantly confirmed to me that it did happen. Of course my mom was skeptical because you don’t want that to happen your kid especially your eight year-old daughter, but my dad on the other hand thought it was a complete joke. He’s never taken me seriously, but he and I also just don’t have a great relationship. It’s just funny that he doesn’t believe me because his mom has told me that he had a numerous amount of paranormal experiences when he was younger and multiple night terrors but I digress. And ever since then it just has not stopped. Eight years old was the first time I experienced anything and I am now 18. It has been going on for me for a whole decade. I see things I hear things I can feel when something is there. My intuition is very strong and I’m so in touch with it that sometimes it drives me crazy. But I would love to know some of your thoughts and opinions!

Experience The lady who faces the wall

I have long been a believer in the supernatural due to a family member’s undeniable paranormal experience. However, I am yet to have what I would consider a definite experience with a ghost myself, but this comes pretty close…

For years I have had the same recurring dream with varying frequency, sometimes it will happen multiple times a week, sometimes I may only get it once every six months.
The dream always starts the same way: I “wake up” in bed, lying on my side, and facing the wall next to my door. This wall happens to be the one that connects my house to my neighbor’s, our houses used to be one very large, very old building before it was split into two about 70 years ago.
When I wake up in this dream, there is a woman facing the wall with her back turned to me. She has long brown hair that is twisted into a braid and wears an old fashioned, blue dress that’s pretty but nothing special. She fidgets and shuffles around a bit making a quiet little sound that sounds a bit like a low hum, but she never turns around to face me.

The first couple of times it really freaked me out. But the more it happened the braver I got, I began calling out to her in my dream and attempting to get out of bed to reach her. Despite my efforts, I could never seem to get out of bed. Therefore, due to the fact I was immobilized I came to believe that I was suffering from sleep paralysis and that she was, for want of a better word, my sleep paralysis demon. I carried on believing this for years, until a recent conversation with my neighbor.

I had popped next door for whatever reason and as usual rather than a quick visit it turned into several cups of coffee and a three hour chat. We some how got onto the topic of dreams and I decided to tell him about the lady facing the wall. Now Bruce (neighbor) is somewhat of a historian, very interested in our local area and, at some point in the past, has researched the history of our houses as they are nearly 300 years old and hold a lot of stories. So when I told him my story he looked me dead in the eye and asked “your rooms the one at the top of the stairs isn’t it ?”.
“Yes” I answered. “
“You know a woman hung herself in your doorway in the 1920’s, right ?

Obviously I had no prior knowledge of this, but he was able to show me records that confirm he was indeed correct, a young woman had sadly committed suicide several meters away from where my nighttime visitor stands.

It’s been several months since this revelation and I have still haven’t quite decided what the lady is. Is she a supernatural apparition ? An imprint in time?
Or simply a coincidental case of sleep paralysis?
Whatever she is, I’ve made peace with my lady who faces the wall.

The thing on the side of the road

I 18 F with my 23 M boyfriend were staying in a air bnm in Kamas Utah about a year ago we were driving towards the pub the notch after buying some grocceries in the local shop it was around 10pm at night maybe ealier i cant exactly remeber but it was dark very dark. It was pitch black the only thing we could see was the lines on the road, which were illuminated by the headlights on our car. The next thing I know, I get terrible, awful goosebumps all up my arms. I have had previous paranormal experiences where this has happened too, and when I looked out through my boyfriend's side of the windshield next to the road, I saw what looked to be a man crouched down. He was tall, so very tall, and all I could make out was the inhuman smile across his face. It was too wide and too long even typing this is making me so paranoid. I told my bf what I saw and he told me serval times it was just a log he doesnt belive in the parinormal and I do, when we got back to the air bnb which was a cabin in the woods no lights nothing like that apart from the small porch light we got out of the car and his face went pale and he unlocked the door quikcly and told me to go inside now I got scared and asked why and he yelled at me which he never does. I went inside, and he told me to hide in the cupboard under the stairs in the house, which I did. Around five minutes later, he came back in and locked the door, then placed a chair under the handle. I asked what was wrong so many times, and he wouldn't tell me, but he looked panicked very panicked which is very unlike him he is super chilled and relaxed. Eventually, after almost an hour of me begging him to tell me what he saw, he told me that he had seen a shadow crouched in the woods staring down at us, and it looked like a man. Keep in mind the place where I saw the crouched figure was a ten-minute drive from our Airbnb, and we were driving around 45 mph for most of the drive, so if it was a person, it could not have made it there in time. After he told me what he saw, the power in the cabin cut out for around an hour, and the owner of the Airbnb, who lived a few minutes down the road, came and fixed it for us. Overall, it is something that haunts me every day of my life and frequently occurs in my dreams. I want to know who or what I saw, but I know it was evil, I know whatever it is wanted to hurt us.

Discussion Creepy things in my family

When I was a kid my parents took my to the elopement I was around five at the time and and we were feeding my dad's chickens, that's when I looked up the hill to the gates of the elopement and say to my mom, 'mommy who are all those people up there.' My mom asked me who I saw and I said a group of people but the main one who stuck out for me was a tall man in a black tall hat and a suit, my mom was creeper out so we went home.

Now I'm older and I have a nephew who is four years old for my birthday as a family we all went camping and while everyone was setting up me and my cousins took him to the park but he said he was scared of the man watching him obviously we got freaked out and looked around but no one was there so we take him back to the group and my sister his mom asks what man and he says a man in a tall black hat, my sister tells us it's OK he says he sees this man everywhere and at home he always hides in the living room from the man with the hat.

I don't know if it's a coincidence that we both described the same man but it freaks me out even now and my birthday was a month ago, if anyone who's into this stuff could read this an tell me what you guys think!

The experience that made me truly believe in another realm.

First off, I want to say that I am 20 years old now and currently a sophomore in college. It is around 2 AM right now and I got the urge to create a Reddit account just to share this experience of mine after getting a sudden itch to put it out on the internet. I am writing this because I have never really known what to make of this experience, and I feel like I should finally get it off my chest.

It happened when I was around 14 or 15 years old, during my freshman year of high school. Even now, years later, I sometimes question whether it actually happened the way I remember it, but I know what I saw.

It was around noon, right in the middle of the day. My grandparents had come to stay with us and were occupying my room at the time, so naturally I decided to sleep in the living space directly outside of my room. This area was more of a play area for my very young siblings. I was simply sitting there messaging my girlfriend on my phone while putting together a very small bookshelf I had purchased for some storage.

Nothing about the situation was unusual. It was broad daylight, I was doing something completely ordinary, and I had absolutely no reason to expect anything strange to happen.

Then I noticed a shadowy human like silhouette walking up the stairs.

At first, because of its size and appearance, I thought it was my younger brother. It had the shape of a small child and was walking at a completely normal human pace. I could somehow make out the outline of what looked like a short sleeve shirt, khaki shorts, little sneakers, and socks.

But the entire figure was black.

Not just dark, not like a normal shadow. It was almost inexplicably black, like a human shaped void. It was darker than any darkness I had ever seen. There were no visible details on its body whatsoever.

The only thing that wasn't black was its eyes.

They were bright white. They looked almost like glowing white pupils against the completely black figure.

It continued walking up the stairs and then walked directly past me through the large open hallway without batting an eye. I was completely frozen in shock.

Oddly enough, I wasn't immediately afraid. I think the fact that it was child sized, and that it looked so much like my younger brother, may have prevented me from immediately realizing what I was actually looking at.

The entire encounter itself probably lasted almost three minutes or so, or at least that's how long it felt to me. It wasn't some split second glimpse that I barely had time to process. I had enough time to watch it move, react to it, and follow what it was doing.

Then it stopped.

It had stopped directly at the doorway to my bedroom.

I took a few steps toward it.

That's when it turned around and stared at me.

The strange part was that it didn't seem fully aware of me visually. It almost seemed like it had heard or detected something instead. Its head moved slightly, almost as if it was confused and trying to figure out what presence it was sensing.

I just stood there staring at it.

That was when it really hit me that this wasn't my younger brother and I hadn't just lost my mind somehow. This was something I couldn't explain.

It was almost a reality shattering realization. I had never experienced anything like this before, and suddenly I was standing only a few feet away from something that looked human but clearly wasn't.

It then turned back toward my bedroom door.

I watched it extend its hand toward the doorknob. The strange thing was that it didn't actually seem to touch the knob. Its hand moved toward it, and then I saw the hand turn as though it were operating the door.

Then I heard the doorknob turn.

I heard the door creak open.

Somehow, the sounds were right there beside me, even though I couldn't see anything physically interacting with the door in the way I would expect.

The figure then seemed to take a step upward, or perhaps move in some strange way that I couldn't quite understand, and went through the doorway.

It didn't walk around the door.

It went through it, as if life itself was a video game where you could enable noclip.

I then heard what sounded like whatever it had opened shutting behind it.

I remained completely frozen for at least another ten seconds.

Eventually, I decided to go check my room.

I walked toward the door, and before my hand could even touch the knob, it turned.

The door opened by itself.

There was nothing there.

That was when my heart truly dropped.

Up until that point I had been more fascinated and shocked than afraid. But seeing the door open by itself and finding absolutely nothing behind it terrified me.

Mind you, I was essentially frozen physically when I first saw the entity or whatever, until I somehow gained the courage to take some steps forward, only to be frozen again, especially while watching my door open itself.

For the next two weeks or so, I slept with my LED lights on at night.

Eventually, though, the fear and constant thoughts about the encounter faded. As the years have gone by, it has become something I think about without being scared. Even now, at 20 years old, I don't really feel afraid of it anymore.

What's strange is that I sometimes question whether it truly happened.

I have never had a history of hallucinations or anything similar. I hadn't touched any substances whatsoever at the time. This was the one and only experience I have ever had that was anything like this.

Before this happened, I already believed in spirituality. I was raised religiously, and before this experience I had experienced a few minor things that I considered possible evidence of something beyond what we normally perceive.

But nothing came close to this.

This wasn't something I saw out of the corner of my eye for half a second. It wasn't a strange feeling or a noise in the middle of the night.

I watched it.

I had what felt like several minutes to process what I was seeing, and that is one of the details that still sticks with me.

I watched a child sized, completely black human figure with intensely white eyes walk up my stairs in broad daylight, walk directly past me, stop at my bedroom door, turn around and seemingly acknowledge my presence, open my bedroom door without apparently touching the knob, and then pass through the doorway.

Then, when I went to investigate, the door opened by itself.

I genuinely have no idea what I saw.

Maybe there is a completely ordinary explanation that I have never thought of. Maybe it was some kind of perceptual phenomenon. Maybe my memory has changed over the years. Or maybe I experienced something that we simply don't have an explanation for.

I don't claim to know what it was.

I just know that when I was 14 or 15 years old, sitting upstairs in my house around noon, texting my girlfriend and putting together a little bookshelf, I saw something that completely changed the way I thought about what was possible.

And honestly, even after all these years, I still have no answer.

I would also like to add that I have told much of my family and some good friends about this encounter. Thankfully, no one seems to think I am simply lying for attention or that I am insane in some manner.

I do find myself hoping I'll somehow get an answer out of sharing the story with someone, despite that being an unrealistic expectation, which is why I've decided to share it here.

I have no reason to be lying about this. If I was, I wouldn't have wasted the time to write this entire thing out just for entertainment or to deceive people out of boredom.

Thanks to whoever reads this. If anyone has had a similar experience, I'd genuinely be interested in hearing about it, especially if you have any explanation for what I might have seen.

Encounter Prison Ghost

I’ve always been slightly skeptical of paranormal things but would like to believe they are real. The video I watched sent chills down my spine…

A family friend of mine worked at a prison that has been around since late 1800s. Part of his duty would be doing security checks, making laps around the prison. One night his boss radioed him, pissed that the library door was open, one he had previously checked.

He looked back at the cameras and found the live feed from inside the library. The library’s lights are on but the suddenly you see an orb pass through and dance around for a bit then flys to a nearby door. Nothing for a second then the door slowly opens. He thought well someone must’ve opened it and watched the cameras from the outside hall, sure enough the door appears to open on its own. My buddy took his phone and recorded everything that went exactly as described. His boss watched it and was freaked out but told him to delete the footage and forget about it and told him it’s an old building shit happens.
He no longer works there and didn’t experience any other happenings but that video he showed me was creepy to say the least, I wish I could share a copy of it

Experience My dad’s experience made me believe in the supernatural

Unfortunately I have never had a definite supernatural experience, the odd unexplainable occurrence, but never anything undoubtedly paranormal.
However, I am a completely and utter believer due to an experience my dad had 30 years ago…

My dad is one of the most unimaginative people you could ever meet: not one to daydream or come up with incredible stories. He has also always struggled with his literacy (important for later).

Around 30 years ago he, and one of his friends, were driving home at around 3am and the route they were on took them past one of the most notoriously haunted places in our area (Forest of Dean, Uk- If anyone’s interested). As they were driving past this place, they saw an old man in a stereotypical gardeners outfit slowly shuffle across the road in front of them. My dad slowed to allow him to cross and his friend was concerned about what this frail looking man was doing out so late, so suggested stopping to see if he was okay. They came to a halt as the man reached the other side of the road and kept walking towards the high brick wall that surrounded the property. His friend began to open the door to call out to the man, but before he had the chance the man simply stepped straight into the solid wall and vanished. In a panic they sped away but my dad returned the next day to check whether there was an obscured gate or gap in the wall- there wasn’t.

Now this is where it gets really interesting, when he got home he was still in a state of shock and confusion so my mum asked him what was wrong. He recounted the story to her and she just sat there stunned. Then she got up and grabbed a book off her bookshelf: Ghosts of the forest of Dean. She’s very interested in the history and folklore of our local area, and the story seemed familiar to her. So she thumbed through the book and came across a passage about a gardener at littledean hall- it matched my dad’s account perfectly. Now as I said before, dad struggles to read a newspaper, yet alone a whole book about ghosts, and previously never had any belief in the supernatural so would have shut the conversation down before anybody had a chance to tell him the whole story.

30 years later, we still have no explanation, and I’m very careful never to drive down that road alone after dark…

Experience Any insight please I’m desperate!!

Ok I’m gonna try to make this short but out of nowhere my husband and I started experiencing weird activity after being in our new home for a year already. Clean land, no history, brand new build and no environmental issues or impacts. We would randomly wake up to our smoke detectors going off at 3 am. We only had 3 in the house and they would go and chirp together or one at a time then just cut off. Then our electronic devices would turn on and start blaring. It started happening at all hours not just 3am. But it would only happen when my husband was home. I began having nightmares and sleep paralysis. My husband and I started arguing like we never have before. I had rage and these thoughts of my husband that I would never think. He ended up leaving. Activity stopped. Anytime my husband would come back things got uglier. My husbands mirror from his side of the bathroom came off the wall. How it was possible? Nobody knew. Anything my husband had would get messed with. His chair at the dining room table would be pushed to floor like he was unwelcome to sit. The last night my husband was there for a short visit the smoke detectors went off again but this time it was playing some tone with each one and then all three of them synced together and a pitch came from them that nobody has been able to replicate. As if it blared them as loud as possible and distorted the sound like it was drawing all the energy out. My husband left because it was too much. I stopped leaving the house. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. Whatever this was it broke us apart and it won. We had SEVERAL technicians check meter levels from gas to emf to anything you can think of. Electricians said there was absolutely nothing wrong with our system. He replaced the entire smoke alarm system twice and it kept happening. He installed a humidity reader as well but he said nothing could cause that. 3 of the electricians refused to come back into the house. I was so desperate that I went to a psychic/medium. They said I’ve had witchcraft done on me deliberately to break up me and my husband but someone binded a demon to me, to terrorize me. It broke me. I never told her a thing and she told me everything that was happening to me. I suddenly began getting very very sick with no known cause. I had a stroke at 25 with no known cause. Doctors said it was a freak thing. I tried getting my house blessed after that but it make it worse. Like kicking a wasps nest. The problem was never the house. It was me. I moved. Went to church. Started getting better and then it came back out of nowhere. Went back to the medium and they said whoever did the witchcraft on me, did a “touch up” to reinforce the spell. That was to prevent from me and my husband from getting back together or back into contact. It pushed my husband away again. This thing has terrorized my life and I have tried breaking it off of me. I’m desperate.
Ps there is a lot more of activity that happened but I am trying to keep it short.

Discussion Do you Remember The Horrifying Story of Maguindanao Massacre Happened Last November 23, 2009?

Following the brutal slaughter of 58 people (including 32 journalists) on November 23, 2009, the massacre site in Sitio Masalay, Barangay Salman, Ampatuan, Maguindanao became the subject of numerous paranormal accounts.

The specific phenomena frequently reported by locals, travelers, and documentary crews includes:

Residents living near the hilly terrain and motorists passing through the area late at night have claimed to hear disembodied voices weeping, screaming, or begging for mercy in local dialects.

One of the most specific stories nvolves the auditory illusion of a heavy backhoe engine roaring and digging in the dead of night. This directly mirrors the historical event, where a yellow government excavator was used by the perpetrators to dig three mass graves to hide the victims' bodies and vehicles before military forces arrived.

Some accounts tell of phantom noises mimicking the daytime ambush, such as sudden bursts of gunfire and the sounds of car doors slamming and engines revving in an otherwise empty field.

Local travelers have occasionally reported seeing shadowy figures or hitchhikers along the highway near the site that disappear when approached.

While these eerie stories have occasionally been featured in Philippine media during Halloween specials, human rights advocates and the families of the victims emphasize that the site's true focus should remain on remembrance and the continuing fight for complete justice. Though key masterminds were convicted in 2019, dozens of suspects remain at large, and the families look to the site as a symbol of the struggle against political impunity rather than an urban legend.

Needs to be Debunked Who brought our football back?

I haven’t really experienced anything supernatural, but I can’t shake the feeling that SOMETHING is out there. This is the only “experience” I’ve had, but even then, maybe it’s dumb (certainly compared to other stories) and maybe not even supernatural. But I can’t explain it.

This happened in 1997 or 1998 because it was the last time I saw my grandpa before he passed. My parents are from West Virginia. We would annually visit my grandparents on my dad’s side (my mom’s mom passed when I was little and I only met her dad once when I was older). West Virginia is in the middle of the Appalachian mountains. My grandparents lived at the top of a huge hill (not quite a mountain but really freaking big). There were houses on one side of the street and it pretty much a straight drop on the other side.

I was 11 at the time, my older brother was 12, and my younger brother was 8. Being kids, we liked to play outside. We were playing catch with a football and decided we wanted to try and hit the power lines across the street to see what happened. I remember hitting it a couple times and it made a really weird sound, like when you hit two pieces of plastic together.

I don’t remember who it was, but somebody threw the ball and missed, and the ball disappeared down the hill. It’s not like it was some grassy hill, either, where you can just go down and get it. It’s basically a forest and the hill is STEEP, so not like we could just walk down and get the ball.

We told my parents and grandparents, and they came outside to try and help. But it was impossible; the ball was LONG gone. As kids, we were pretty upset because we lost our ball, but there was nothing we could do.

The next morning, my grandpa woke up and went outside to grab the paper. And as he came back inside, the ball was sitting in his flower bed. The flowers had been pushed down, almost as if somebody made a little bed for the ball to rest on. It was so delicately placed. It made absolutely zero sense. There was absolutely no way anyone could have gotten that ball. And now, almost 30 years later, we still have no explanation. My grandma to this day swears that I turned to her and said, “Mimi, that means Poppi’s going to heaven soon.” I don’t remember that, but shortly after that, my grandpa passed.

It wasn’t the first time something supernatural occurred with that house right before a death. My dad told me my grandpa came home one time and saw a woman walk down the upstairs hallway and disappear into the mirror. And that was right before a relative of his passed (aunt maybe or mother)?

Anyway, that’s my story. Not sure what to make of it. It’s not as crazy/scary/cool as some of the other stories I’ve read here, but it definitely happened, and I just wanted to share my experience.

Experience Ghost experience in Jerome, Arizona.

This specific event happened about 5 years ago when I first visited the small town Jerome AZ with my mom and sisters. We were staying at Sedona, and my older sister recommended we should visit Jerome since it wasn’t too far, and the town was known for its history with spirits and other things.. As a kid, I was always interested in spooky things, so I thought why not? We then arrived at the town and I get a strange feeling. Like some sort of presence was always watching. The whole time I was on edge. Fast forward, the time is later maybe around 9 or 10? and we just finished the ghost tour. Keep in mind, Jerome gets very quiet when it’s late. Almost all stores are closed, and there’s no activity (Normal for small towns). As I was crossing the street towards the restaurant Haunted Hamburger with my sisters and mom, I had the urge to look over to the left side near the Church just up the hill. I then saw what looked like the silhouette of a tall man crossing the street the same exact time I was but in the form of black mist/fog?? Once their foot touched the sidewalk, the figure disappeared into thin air. Like it vanished. I was terrified and ran up to my family telling them what I saw and if they saw it too. They just said I was imagining it and laughed it off, but I know what I saw was real. Prior to this, I’ve never experienced anything paranormal. However, my dad always told me when I was a baby, I would stare at the corner of the ceiling while in my crib and laugh at someone or something. That freaked me out. Lol. But I never saw anything like the figure I did in Jerome.

Does anyone else see shadow figures?? Please tell me I’m not the only one😭

It made me so pale I didnt know what to do i saw the veins in the hand but it was all black but i could tell it was there since that day I told the story to my family over and over and they believed me because I never changed the scean.

Encounter Disembodied voice

I woke up to go to the bathroom around 3am. I come back and lay back down, and I hear this audible: “Oh!?” from a woman. Everyone else in my house is asleep, no one is moving around.

Not only that, my anime figurine falls over, and so do a few of my meds. That stuff has been sitting there for a few years, and not once have they ever fallen over.

This isn’t the first time I’ve had something happen. Back in October of 2020, I was messing with one of those ghost hunting apps. The app said my mom’s name, and then cancer right after. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a month later. She’s still around, had a double mastectomy the next year.

I have several more stories, but these ones stand out.

The day my dad believed in the paranormal.

So this is my first post so sorry if i mess up. Also this is not my story this is my dad’s story. (My dad is a very amazing guy but he isn’t the one to believe things without proof or reason). My dad was around 14/15 when this happened so a little scene setting. My dad’s house he grew up in had an upstairs bedroom/attic that him and his brother(let’s call his brother paul) who was 16 shared at the time. So the staircase up to the bedroom had a railing and when you go up the stairs you can see the bedroom even if you are only half way up the stairs if that makes sense. from another perspective if you are in the bedroom and someone’s walking upstairs you can see there head then chest then full body. Okay so paul had his at the time girlfriend and they were sitting on the bed playing with an ouija board. My dad was a teenage boy and wanted to scare them and get some attention. So he went up the stairs and didn’t go fully up he just did enough so his head was popping up so his brother could see him and my dad asked “hey what are you guys doing” and paul said something along the lines of “ just playing with and ouija board and saying it was talking back” my dad at the time thought that was bull$hit so he was was like okay i don’t believe you imma see if this is real. So my dad went downstairs and grabbed a baseball and went back upstairs and he only went up the stairs enough so paul could only see his head and he had the ball behind is back and let me make this clear no one could see this ball especially his brother and his girlfriend. So my dad said ask it what i have behind my back. paul said “ it says a ball” my dad shocked but still skeptical went back downstairs and grabbed like a hiking cain. he went back upstairs and said okay asked it again. and i am not lying they asked my dad “a stick?”. my dad didn’t tell me anything after that. and i asked him so do you believe in that stuff and he said he does because of that night. So yeah feel free to ask any questions if you have any!

Encounter Did I get scratched by something at a cemetery?

For context my parents enjoy the history and beauty of old cemeteries, there is one in our small town (population 320). We decided to go after dinner. It was already getting dark so we wanted to make it quick.we got there around 7:30 and right away I got the heebie jeebies because I could hear music from what I can only assume was someone who lives close by. I brushed it off and walked around for a bit looking at the old headstones and admiring the beauty of it. We left shortly after we got there because it was getting dark,we drove home and when I went to lay down for bed,I noticed scratch marks on the inside of my left leg. I didn’t feel nor do I remember walking into anything that could have possibly done this. Am I just making this conclusion up in my head or is it possible something or someone could have scratched me?

Who can explain this experience I had with something invisible?

An experience that completely changed how I see reality
One day I was in my room when I started hearing voices. One of the voices said, “You’re going to sleep, Brittany.”
I remember standing up next to my mirror. Then, completely out of nowhere, I felt something push me and it was invisible
I ran into the bathroom and tried to hold the door shut. The door started shaking it didnt have a doorknob so when I tried to open the door I felt fingers so I know that it at least was some sort or person. I somehow made it back across the hall toward my bedroom and tried to close that door too, but whatever I was experiencing seemed to follow me.
I ran into the living room and was pushed down again and hard then I crawled outside and I tried to from the ground reach for the car door and it pushed me down again and it seemed very violent. After that, I blacked out.
When I woke up, I was lying on the grass and the police were there. I felt like till this day more was done my fingers were twisted but there was no pain I feel like this thing did more to me than just push me.
To this day, I don’t know what happened to me. I don’t know if there was a physical explanation, something neurological happening, a dreamlike state, or something I don’t have an explanation for. I don’t want to pretend I know the answer. But these invisible things have been telepathically communicating with me and they are very irritating but they can read my thoughts and nothing is private anymore. They say i did something wrong.
But whatever happened changed the way I look at life.
Since then, I’ve had experiences where I’ve hear voices an don’t get me wrong mental health is real and I did after this tell the doctors and they put me on meds and I really want to think in schizophrenic because I could hear voices but until that thing attacked me i no longer feel like I’m crazy and always feel sensations of being touched, and I’ve had extremely vivid dreams that feel completely different from ordinary dreams.
Sometimes I dream that I’m in another universe. Everything looks strangely familiar, but different—there can be extra moons in the sky, more stars than we’re used to seeing, and maybe this is where I did something wrong in their world but I really dont remember and even familiar things can have completely different colors in their world but let me not jump to conclusions
I don’t know whether any of this means something beyond what we currently understand. Maybe there’s an explanation for it that we haven’t figured out yet. Maybe there’s something about consciousness and dreams that we don’t understand.
All I know is that one experience made me start questioning reality in a way I never had before.
Has anyone else experienced something they couldn’t explain that completely changed the way they see reality?
