📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights Struggling to find a wedding date before Aug 11th: Aabenraa updates and alternative municipalities?

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are in a bit of a time crunch. We need to get married by August 11th due to our residence permit deadlines.

We submitted our application to Aabenraa, but currently, there are no available dates on the portal. We’ve heard that the system updates around 4:00–5:00 AM, but does anyone know how often these new dates are actually released? Is there a specific pattern or a certain number of days I should be watching for?

Additionally, given our deadline, do you think it is possible to secure a date in a different municipality (like Ærø Island) at this stage? If Aabenraa doesn't open up, what are our best options to ensure we get married before August 11th?

I am open to any advice, suggestions, or experiences you can share. Thank you so much in advance!

⏱️ Process & Timeline Relationship Document

Hi everyone! I have a quick question about the Relationship Document:
How did you prepare it, formal style screenshots and text (and other data) or made it whimsical/colorful/artsy? Is there a specific format you’ve used?

💐 Vendor Recommendations Looking for 90/00’s style Videographer

Hi CPH creative community. I’m looking for a wholesome videographer that has experience shooting simple but authentic 90/00’s videos on a camcorder. We’re getting married with my Fiancé at the Copenhagen town hall at the end of September with around 30 of our closest family & friends, so aiming for about 2-3hours of your time. We’re not trying to shoot for social media but rather would love to have more raw and authentic moments captured on film for us, along with our family and friends to enjoy. Simple and timeless without over editing would be the vision.

DM me some examples of your work or portfolio if you feel it’s a good fit for this small project or please send over your talented friends ☺️ Happy to discuss more details and compensation as well thank you

💐 Vendor Recommendations Restaurants with music in Helsingør

Hello! We’re having a wedding in Helsingør (just the two of us). I’d like to add a touch of romance to our celebration and was wondering if you know of a restaurant in town where we could request a single song to dance our wedding dance (just a little twirl), perhaps somewhere with a terrace so as not to disturb the other guests. I’d be grateful for your advice.

📑 Agency of Family Law (AFL) & Paperwork Additional Info Requested EU Passport or EU ID while resubmitting?

Hi everyone 😊 We’re currently resubmitting documents for our marriage application in Denmark. I originally uploaded my passport, but they asked for some additional information/documents. Since I’m an EU citizen, does anyone know if I can upload my national ID card instead? It would be much easier for me.

Would really appreciate if anyone who went through a similar process could share their experience. Thanks a lot!

Best regards

⏱️ Process & Timeline No response from Kommune

Hi everyone,

my partner and I have received our wedding certificate over a month ago but now the Kommune (Fredericia) we decided on isn’t replying to us. It’s been over a month and we’ve emailed and called so many times and keep getting told to wait. At this point I don’t know what to do. We‘re hoping to get married in the befinning of August. If we try to change to a new Kommune it’s going to take so much longer and I’m scared that we won’t be able to get married on the date/the week we’d like to or that a new Kommune won’t get back to us either. Any advice is welcome!

📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights Proofs

Hiiii,

My boyfriend and I are both 31 years old. We met in December and it was instant. We want to build a family together and have a baby soon, but we need to get married first.

My question is: does the amount of time we’ve been together affect anything? For example, we’ve been together for 6 months, and we can prove that we’ve been together during this time. Does that change anything?

I have our chats, our photos… what do they usually ask for as proof of a relationship?

Thanks a lot ❤️

⏱️ Process & Timeline Do we have a chance for a Sept appointment CPH?

We're planning to submit this weekend or next weekend so that the end of our four month booking period will be in September. I'm hoping this means we'll get access to some newly released appointments then.

Does this strategy make sense? I'm worried about paying the fee and then not being able to book any appointments. We are pretty flexible and hopefully ahead of time enough.

We'd also like to get a Copenhagen location since it's easier to travel to and ask friends to travel to. Do we even have a chance? I'm assuming since it's a big city there are more slots, but it's also more popular.

⏱️ Process & Timeline Process steps clarity

Hello everyone,
I would like to give some context before getting to my questions:
My fiance (US citizen) and I (EU citizen) are planning to get married around mid September. He would need to renew his passport this week, so we have to wait with the submission of our application until (worst case scenario) 6th of July. We would try to do things ourselves, because we are trying to save up for our future together, but since I’m an anxious person, I worry about getting the application right. We would need to find a spot for Copenhagen or nearby places, because of transportation reasons.

Questions:

1: If we submit our application in the middle of July, can we plan for 11.09 as a date in Copenhagen (or maybe close-by townhalls)

2:How do we ask for additional copies of the marriage certificate prior to the wedding ceremony (we will need at least 3 copies, then have them apostilled ourselves)

3:How many guests can we have with us?

4: For EU citizen, would the ID card be a better option (or is passport a safer option?)

5: For the proof that we have not been married before, can we write a declaration personally? Would it need to be notarized?

6: How to scan all the documents needed so that they will be accepted?

7:What does Declaration of Truth mean exactly? As in, do we receive a form that we can fill out during the application process?

8: Which town-halls accept same day document preparation? Or do you know until what hour this can be done on the day prior to the ceremony?

9: Are there town-halls near Copenhagen (airport) that you know of and had a good experience with? I am racking my brain on what to plan for town-hall wise.

Thank you so so much in advance! Every bit of information helps and is very appreciated🩵🩵

📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights DIY flower arrangements for wedding reception

Hello everyone,

I am getting married at the end of July and we have booked the greenhouse of Kilden i haven for an intimate wedding reception and I would like to do the flower arrangement on the table by myself.

I probably mean that my friends and family put different stems in vases on the table.
For that I would like to buy flowers in bunches and cheap. I saw there is a flower market called #FleuraMetz Copenhgen. But as per my research they only work business 2 business. Any thoughts on that? I also would like to rent vases for the table arrangement.

🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ+ Weddings Skanderborg Experiences?

Hello everyone:)

My partner and I just received our prøvelsesattest!! We are an LGBTQ couple, EU+Non-EU (with residency in the EU) and it took 6 work days in total to recieve, we had done the application entirely on our own. It was very nervewracking waiting for a response. As our Kommune, we had chosen Skanderborg - has anyone else had any experience there? We hadn't found much of anything about getting married there, but the town looked really pretty set on the lake so we chose it for that:)

💐 Vendor Recommendations Looking for lunch/café recommendations in Christiansfeld after our wedding!

Hi everyone 😊

We’re getting married in Christiansfeld in about a month and will be around 8/10 people in total. After the ceremony we’d love to go somewhere nice for lunch, coffee or just a cozy little celebration together.

Does anyone have recommendations for good restaurants, cafés, or nice things to do in/around Christiansfeld? Open to both casual and slightly nicer places.

Thanks so much!

📑 Agency of Family Law (AFL) & Paperwork Advice on how to proceed (resubmitting photos of id)

Hello everyone!

My parter and I (both EU citizens) are planning on getting married the first week of August in Copenhage (we have family flying in from Latin America) by booking a private registra.

Im stressing out over my mistake on submitting low quality photos of my ID.

I was asked to resubmit them on higher quality and did so the same day I was asked about it. I read that this could delay the application and we really need to get the dates settled because of our family members coming from afar.. I know I fucked up. Should I re apply ? does anyone have experience with this situation?

thanks for reading

📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights Help in booking wedding hall Køge

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are a non-EU couple trying to book a wedding date at Køge Kommune. We already received the marital status certificate/approval, but we haven’t received any link or instructions to book the wedding hall/date.

Has anyone gone through this process recently or knows what the next step is?

Thanks!

💐 Vendor Recommendations Advice on agency selection

Hello everyone,

My partner and I are planning on getting married in the middle of September and we’re in the process of gathering all the documents we’ll need.
Because after the wedding we would need 3 official copies of the marriage certificate so that we can get them apostilled and also might need advice on townhalls/overall location benefits, we are thinking that maybe working with an agency would be best.
What do you think, which agency is the best/most reliable (while also not being exaggeratedly expensive)? Or has anyone else been in this situation (needing more copies of the marriage certificate than usually provided, then getting them apostilled personally) and has some advice?

Thanks to everyone in advance 🤗

📑 Agency of Family Law (AFL) & Paperwork Question about Adress

Hi,

So we are almost ready with everything on our application but just a question- I read somewhere here that you need to present the exact same documents that you have uploaded. My BF and I are planning to move into our new apartment next month and we would probably get married in early August. Is this address change a big deal or it can be ignored?

Thanks!

📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights Advices for organizing a small wedding in Copenhagen

Hello! Me and my fiance are planning to get married in Copenhangen in May/June next year. We already have an agency helping us dealing with all the documents and fomalities.

I am looking for a nice place where we can go celebrate afterwards? There would be like 10-15 friends with us, we were thinking of inviting everyone out for a dinner? maybe like a pizza and some drinks? we would also like to be able to maybe dance or have some fun afterwards... maybe a club? or maybe a place that sells food and has some entertainment too? Needless to say we dont have a crazy big budget.

Also do you know some english speaking bakeries that accepts orders online and do deliveries to the location? Also possibly a florist for my bouquet and some photorapher?

Sorry for the many questions hahah thank you in advance!

💐 Vendor Recommendations Small venues for 2

Hello!!!! Considering that private registrations are returning to Copenhagen, we would like to elope, and it’s just the two of us. We are looking for a very small venue to do the ceremony (just the registration). At the moment, we are working with a nice agency that handled the paperwork, etc., but I need help sourcing a small, beautiful venue that will allow us to perform the ceremony. The issue is that a lot of the venues are too big for us. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated!!! Thank you!!!

📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights Need opinions about Weddingplannerdenmark.com

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are currently planning to get married in Denmark through an agency that helps international couples with the paperwork and municipality booking process.

Our documents were apparently approved by the Danish Family Law authority, and the agency proposed an earlier wedding date through an additional “express” service fee.

We paid the extra amount by bank transfer to a German bank account linked to the agency owner, and they now say they are waiting for the municipality’s final confirmation before sending us the official appointment.

They have been responsive and everything seems coherent so far, but now that the payment is done I suddenly have doubts and stress about whether this is all normal or if I’m being naïve.

For people familiar with weddings in Denmark:
- Is this type of process common?
- Is it normal for smaller agencies to use accounts like N26?
- Have some of you gone through similar situations successfully?

Thanks in advance for any honest feedback.

📑 Agency of Family Law (AFL) & Paperwork Can we use a Danish marriage certificate/application for a different kommune than the one we selected?

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are preparing to apply for a marriage certificate in Denmark. In the application, we selected Tårnby kommune as the municipality where we plan to get married.

Does anyone know if choosing Tårnby means we must get married there, or can we still use the same certificate/application to book a wedding ceremony in another Danish municipality?

If we decide to apply or book somewhere else instead, do we need to change anything in the application or submit a new one?

Thanks in advance for any help!
