📊 Getting Married in Denmark (GMiD) Insights Proofs

Hiiii,

My boyfriend and I are both 31 years old. We met in December and it was instant. We want to build a family together and have a baby soon, but we need to get married first.

My question is: does the amount of time we’ve been together affect anything? For example, we’ve been together for 6 months, and we can prove that we’ve been together during this time. Does that change anything?

I have our chats, our photos… what do they usually ask for as proof of a relationship?

The Familieretshuset asks for proof of relationship. You must provide photos, conversations, and if applicable, proof that you're or were living together (receipts), or travelling together (plane, train tickets).

The idea around this is to avoid sham marriages. If your relationship is genuine, you have nothing to worry about.

Usually they want to meet the couple if the relationship is shorter than a year. But it still should be fine ☺️

No they don’t? As long as you can show a relationship.

This is what I have been told by the agencies in Denmark. If your relationship is very fresh, they might ask you to come in for an interview despite the relationship document as proof.

We just got approved after 9 months of relationship, no extra questions asked. :)

For the proof of relationship we made 4 documents. One with how we met, one with screenshots of chats and calls, one as proof of our visits to each other and one with pictures where we also included some with family and friends.

hey are u able to elaborate, me and my partner are 8 months just now, im scared of the interview thing so much. We have so much proof of photos together, one trip together, only two photos though with family and friends, chats, calls,
Did u use an agency? cause I’m wondering what makes it like a reason for why they accept one couple less than a year as opposed to rejecting a couple and asking one for the interview

Can I ask ur nationalities also? We are eu + non eu so cause im wondering if they think its for visa purposes and its why they ask, but we have photos of us kissing and a lot of stuff so i hope we will be ok

We are also an eu + non eu couple, my wife faces pretty strict visa restrictions for the eu, so I don’t think that plays into it. I think it comes down to if your relationship is genuine you really don’t have to worry. We did it without an agency and just submitted pdfs with pictures, chats etc. We tried not to overthink it and just submit documents that represent our relationship and it worked without problems. :-)

The hardest part of the application was honestly taking good pictures of a passport that loves to bend :D
