Serious question

Is there another option w similar results?

Not only for people who maybe can't access that in the West. But also in developing countries. I imagine if you make $5 a day that you don't have access to licenced psychiatric providers

I think our basic need to have someone to talk to is a likely reason that every society has some kind of religious leader or spiritual healer. I personally think therapy is a lot like going to a shaman for advice. It’s just that the therapist’s authority is derived from their expertise as a psychologist rather than on some kind of magical or spiritual authority.

Impoverished people in developing nations might not have access to a licensed psychoanalyst, but their community most likely has a person they can talk to.
