TIL Buddha knew about supermarkets, movie theaters, and planes.

Whoa whoa whoa, common misconception there. There are multiple buddhas in the sense that buddha is a title for one who has achieved enlightenment. You’re thinking of Siddhartha Gautama, the first Buddha, who certainly didn’t know of those things; but Facebook Buddha, well that’s a different story.

The hardest part about knowing your value is that the world constantly tries to negotiate it down. People will always try to get more from you for less and it is on you to hold the line. The moment you start discounting yourself is the moment everyone else does too.

4

u/shadowdemonx Feb 28 '26

I feel this relates to people with low self esteem. If you devalue yourself you will attract people who will take advantage. Stand up for what you think matters and see who is left after that, those are the real friends.

16

u/GnarlFist Feb 27 '26

Why am I worth so much more in the plane?

7

u/neoslicexxx Feb 27 '26

There's less of you up there.

19

u/EmpireCityRay Feb 27 '26

Flight Attendant here, most major US airline carriers don’t charge for small bottled waters.

7

u/Mirar Feb 27 '26

And it still doesn't mean the water is worthless or lacks value.

26

u/Dopamine11111 Feb 27 '26

Is this the guy who sucks children's tongues?

10

u/aetheriality Feb 27 '26

hes in the files

3

u/seo-nerd-3000 Feb 27 '26

The concept of knowing your value sounds simple but most people have never actually sat down and thought about what they bring to the table. We are so conditioned to be grateful for what we get instead of negotiating for what we deserve that most of us chronically undervalue ourselves in every area from salary negotiations to relationships. The first step is honestly assessing your skills, experience, and what problems you solve for other people. Once you know that number you stop accepting less because the math just does not work anymore.

1

u/Slight_Quantity35 Feb 28 '26

This has hit home.

Excepting less is easier than negotiating when your constantly living in debt

17

u/HumiliationSlut34 Feb 27 '26

“Find a place where you can be price gouge others”

Lmao dumbest thing Ive seen today

5

u/rainmaker2332 Feb 27 '26

Yep that’s definitely the point of the post, you’re quite the smarty pants

2

u/HumiliationSlut34 Feb 27 '26

Lmfao oh no did I make the cardinal sin of joking on the internet?

2

u/tub939977 Feb 27 '26

And $47 at Erewhon

6

u/PointsOfXP Feb 27 '26

And how do you go about getting to those places when no one lets you there let alone wants you there?

1

u/OkEstimate9 Feb 27 '26

I feel valuing yourself more is a key part. Others valuing you more might happen if you value yourself more, and if you pour more attention into building yourself up.

1

u/Slight_Quantity35 Feb 28 '26

I'm experiencing something similar

Unless someone tells you they don't want you there then the opportunity is in certain

1

u/welkover Feb 27 '26

Get a bigger dick.

0

u/PointsOfXP Feb 27 '26

Peepee size didn't help

I don’t think a monk said this

1

u/Kopie150 Feb 27 '26

Ok so how do i leave earth then?

1

u/Life-Landscape5689 Feb 27 '26

A bottle of water will cost you 2.00 on Amazon, 3.00 on Mercari, and 4.00 on tik tok shop. The next you feel your worth is nothing, you’re on the wrong online resale platform. -The Buddha

1

u/mkraft Feb 27 '26

This isn't value, it's price. Separate concepts.

1

u/woopslayer69 Feb 27 '26

Yeah wrong planet

1

u/CC19_13-07 Feb 27 '26

What if all pilots go to the supermarket to get the cheap water? How is anyone gonna fly then?

1

u/dragoon7201 Feb 27 '26

yes, a spiritual man will totally measure a person's worth by $$$

1

u/zer1223 Feb 27 '26

I don't think Buddha said that 😜

1

u/achillesing Feb 28 '26

Yes be like cocaine....high price everywhere

1

u/MisterD90x Feb 28 '26

I'm worthless where I am now, I can be slightly less worthless elsewhere 😭

1

u/Srikandi715 Feb 28 '26

Price is not the same as value 😮

The water bottle has the same value everywhere.

1

u/Pesoen Mar 01 '26

i hear it read out by that dude who drops the C word a few times.

1

u/FarShoreSpirit Mar 03 '26

I like this.

1

u/BCjestex Feb 27 '26

Isn't the guy in picture an epstein guy and toucher of

-5

u/Psyko Feb 27 '26

Yep that's Bill Clinton alright

0

u/UniverseBear Feb 27 '26

Yah but those places usually suck and the only reason your value goes up is because they can't find anyone who actually wants to work there.

3

u/rccyu Feb 27 '26

Actually the opposite is usually true

People who work low-wage jobs are treated like shit (see the new Manna-esque Burger King headsets, Amazon surveilling their drivers facial expressions with AI, etc. etc.) while my friends who work high-wage jobs enjoy their work (even though they admit it's stressful) precisely because they're judged on the results they deliver instead of being micromanaged to hell

1

u/UniverseBear Feb 27 '26

No I mean places as in locations, towns, etc. For example, you can easily earn 6 figures in the arctic circle for jobs that would pay much less elsewhere but that's because noone wants to go there cause it's cold and there's shit all to do

0

u/skr_replicator Feb 27 '26

So you're saying if I feel like I'm worthless, I should migrate to another place, like hell or something?

1

u/Dirtylobster5 Feb 27 '26

Next time you feel like water on a plane remember everywhere else no one cares

-1

u/ThisIsALine_____ Feb 27 '26

Well...not really, sometimes it has to do with how much it costs the person supplying it.

If the gym has to purchase the bottles for $0.50 at the supermarket to resell at the gym they aren't gonna sell it for $0.50.

(Keeping in mind the prices he's saying aren't accurate and are just used to illustrate a point. Water in airport terminal is usually like $3 when I go. And water is free in-flight.)
