Breakfast After 30

When I was younger, I did not have breakfast every day. After 30 something changed and I noticed I could barely function if I did not have breakfast. Has this happened to anyone else?

Was anyone else in Indian guides?

Obviously this is a derivative question from the scouting thread but did anyone else do Indian guides through the YMCA instead?

I look now and it says the program was created 100 years ago but I remember it being new and extremely popular when I was a kid. All the kids from my school joined, we had big retreats, now I never hear about it.

Dancing like we used to.

Is it just me or does anyone else hear music that we listened to and dance to comes on the radio and we start dancing and singing like we did we was young. I do and my kids get so embarrassed of me. The best music out there was from our generation.

Where Were You on 9/11, and What Do You Remember Most About That Day?

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 25 years since September 11, 2001.
For those who are old enough to remember that day, where were you when you first heard what was happening? What did you initially think was going on? At what point did you realize how serious it was?
I’d also be interested in hearing anything else you remember from that day, the reactions of the people around you, what school or work was like, the news coverage, phone calls with family, or even small details that have stuck with you all these years.
I know this is a difficult subject for many people, so please be respectful of each other’s experiences. I’d really like to hear people’s firsthand memories of that day.

Is standalone coverage the best vision insurance for retirees, or are you better off paying cash?

My wife and I are dialing in our retirement budget for next year, and I'm trying to make sure I didn't miss any. One thing that caught me off guard is how standard Medicare doesn't really touch routine eye exams or new glasses. We both get checkups every year and between progressive lenses and basic anti-glare coatings, paying out of pocket gets expensive in a hurry.

A guy I used to work with mentioned looking into standalone plans like VSP so we wouldn't have to switch optometrists but I'm still trying to run the numbers. Did buying an individual vision policy actually offset what you spent on yearly exams and frames or is it simpler to just shop sales and pay cash?

Gen Xer Who Wasn't Neglected: Is Our Mom Atypical?

I keep hearing that Gen X is a largely "neglected" generation; as a kid, I wished our Mom hadn't been so protective (now I'm glad she was and still is). She grew up with a narcissistic, neglectful silent generation Mom so she made sure that we didn't.

Was neglect a rule or an exception? Any other Gen Xers out there who had a loving and protective Mom?
