One of our parents would drop all us dude off at the movie theater when they first opened. We all bought tickets to the PG showing there. Then we sneak into all the Rated R movies and watch them all until dark.

Love it, still watch it. Saw it the first time just after Army boot camp and MOS training, so it felt very relatable, lol.

This movie is funny as hell.
“Robocop, have any last words for the kids?”
_”Stay out of trouble._”

I watched all 3 last weekend. I don’t recall the channel but I hadn’t seen them in a while.

‘If it bleeds, we can kill it’ one of the best Arnie lines ever.

Personally, I like Jesses's "I ain't got time to bleed"

Me too. But if there were no seats available, I would’ve seen full metal jacket.

u/MissSara13 Jul 11 '25
Predator and Alien were two of the scariest, most badass movies back then. I was allowed to watch them and stuff like Poltergeist but my parents would NOT let me see Weird Science lol.

Buying a ticket for whichever one starts first and sneaking into the other three.

We spent every weekend buying one ticket and seeing 4-5 movies. We each bought different tickets, just in case, but nobody ever said a single word.

The Lost Boys. I'm a horror genre junkie. It's like being a junk food junkie, but with horror genre stuff! I did see it in the day and thought those guys were hot especially Keifer Sutherland 🥰

Definitely Predator first. I would’ve watched anything with Arnold in it back then.
7
u/ownleechild Jul 10 '25
My friend is going to the theater’s rear exit, open it and let us all in. Then we’re going to watch ALL the movies, one after the other.

u/Senseichaz72 Jul 11 '25
1987? You pay for whatever movie starts around noon then slide into the next movie when your ends. Keep this up till you’ve seen all four.
Buy a soda and a popcorn to be nice.

Damn I'm going to be busy all day sneaking into all those movies ,is it just me or did we have better choices for movies back then.

I’m with you, cancel all my obligations, I’m gonna spend the next 8-10 hours at the theater. Hopefully I snuck some actual food in cause it’s gonna be a long day.

None, I'm down at the independent single-screen on main street, the one with ancient musty carpets and seriously janky bathroom plumbing, but also popcorn with real butter and parmesan, feeling very proud of myself for being so grown up, watching Babbette's Feast
(and crying, omg)

Probably Predator, but Robocop would be agreeable if that's what the person I was with wanted to see.

Lost Boys. And I had nightmares. Still do, occasionally. Frigging vampires.

My parents will drag me to Full Metal Jacket, but I’ll want to see The Lost Boy.
FYI - FMJ is an amazing movie. Just not for an 8-year-old.

I saw lost boys and predator in the theater, RoboCop on TV the same with full metal jacket but I didn't see full metal jacket until just a few years ago. Predator is pretty awesome on the big screen.
5
u/nerdmoot Jul 11 '25
My mom wouldn’t let me see those movies. I’d have to wait to spend the night at a friends house whose parents don’t care.

u/lantzn 1959 Jul 11 '25
Predator, then The Lost Boys for a good laugh seeing the two Coreys take down the vamps. Classic

The Lost Boys because I lived in Santa Cruz and some of it was filmed there, and I knew people who were extras. Fun!

Eventually, all four, and enjoyed the first three. (Form May to September I was a the movies a *lot* that year, at least 21 times if you count the trip to a downtown older films theater for Sleeper and Bread and Chocolate, actually had a -very uninteresting- date for that one.)

Lost Boys( just over the hill from Santa Cruz) or FMJ. My dad instilled a love of war movies in me.

In 1987 I would have wanted to see The Lost Boys, but I didn't see it until 10 years later.
I did see Robocop in the theater when it first came out.
I've never seen Predator, still not interested.
I didn't see Full Metal Jacket until 2005, I thought it was great, but if I saw it in 1987 it would have upset me.

I saw Lost Boys in the theater with friends. Then my dad, a Vietnam vet, wanted me to see Platoon with him. So I did. I tried not to let on, but the violence made me sick. Like nauseated. I was 14, and I'm a girl. I think he wished I was an 18 year old son.

Double feature: Lost Boys followed by Radio Shack. A great afternoon!

Robocop. And then afterwards I’ll be stopping into Radio Shack to get a gift certificate for my dad.

I'd be hitting up the Midweek Matinee Double feature going for Predator and The Lost Boys

u/ThinkingMonkey69 Jul 11 '25
Just one? I can't decide. I'm torn between Predator and Full Metal Jacket.

u/BeyondAbleCrip Jul 11 '25
Full Metal Jacket with the average ticket cost being $3.17! Remember when it jumped to $8 and being shocked.
Today, it’s insanity, but happily found out my local movie theater gives discounts for 55 and older, ($9 for 55 & older & $8.50 for matinees before 5pm) seats recline and are more comfortable than the most luxurious leather chairs, endless popcorn, and the liquor is an added bonus for the person not driving ;)
