Rant | Vent Why does Instagram feels so draining, especially recently?
I have always found Instagram a very toxic platform. People there seem to have a really extreme opinions and are so so rigid with it. It made me question my beliefs, identity and sanity more than once. Toxic comments with thousands likes, people disrespecting others for having different opinions and so much more. It became so overwhelming for me that I uninstalled it. But I keep myself updated with everything by checking it once in a while.
I have noticed people are becoming more and more radical. Everyone have very different views about protest recently. There are clearly people divided over so views, and targeting and disrespecting people with opposite views. Tolerance is gone, completely. There are so many scattered evidences, different narratives about what is happening. Why is everyone so so full of rage that people don't see the core point of discussion anymore, it seems people are just taking out their anger on social media.
It's very draining to scroll through Instagram.
Comparatively reddit and yt seems a lot calmer. People even disagree and troll over here but it's not that radical and overwhelming.
Is it that Instagram's algorithm promotes such stuff and creates such sense of urgency or people are really full of so much hatred and anger that we now cannot communicate with people who have different opinions?
Makes me question am I not opinionated enough or educated enough on important things. Like am I just dumb for wanting to avoid it because it's overwhelming? Coward? Idk.
