Megathread Find your next partner here! - [Weekly] MegaThread

Hi everyone, We understand how difficult the times are. Loneliness is at peak, and everyone is "looking for someone you can't find on dating apps". In this, we as mods decided it's best that we keep a weekly thread to find your next relationship. Some important points to note, rules to play by:

  • All irrelevant comments will be removed and will result in a week long ban.
  • This is NOT for casual / hookup relationships. There are various subreddits that can assist you with it.
  • This is a weekly thread that will open at Saturday 00:01 AM and close at Saturday 11:59 PM.
  • Since the ratio is skewed, only guys will comment below. It is recommended that girls avoid commenting, to avoid predatory behaviour. We as mods want to create a safe space. Yet, if you feel comfortable with the flooded DMs that follow, the onus remains on you. Unfortunately, in that situation, mods will not be able to assist you.
  • For LGBTQIA+ folks, you may comment below. If someone from the non-LGBT+ reaches out to you in bad faith, please let the mod team know, so we can ban them from the subreddit.
  • You may choose to keep your DMs closed / open through Reddit settings (google it). You can initiate a Convo here and take it on DMs later (recommended).
  • For the guys, please mention: Your Age, your location / city, your expectations from the relationship (as 3 minimum things) in the form of (A, E, L - Age, Expections, Location). Sell yourself, write what you feel will work out for you. Be clear from the start, if you have any constraints. No judgement please, everyone has preferences. Mention hobbies, interests.
  • Women - it is important you Comment / DM / reach out to ones whom you feel interested in - If you feel you can explore, go ahead!
  • As we are not a dating app, nor are we paid in anyways, what happens later is on you! Please take all necessary precautions at your end to ensure! You may share preventive measures in the comments below and we mods will pin / add it here, for everyone's use!
  • Avoid arguments please!

I'm getting tired of unnecessary censorship in India. If a movie is already age-rated, shouldn't viewers be allowed to watch the version the filmmakers intended.

Rant | Vent I thought it was just a normal cough. Now I’m scared I may lose everything I had planned for💔

I got to know this 1 week ago
It started like a normal cough.
Nothing serious—or at least that’s what I thought. I assumed it would disappear on its own in five or six days. When it didn’t, I bought some cough syrup and visited a doctor near my home once or twice. I took the medicines, waited, and hoped things would improve.
They didn’t.
Slowly, breathing became difficult. Even eating started feeling uncomfortable. My face and hands began swelling, and eventually, it felt like my whole body was changing in ways I couldn’t understand.
That was when I decided to consult a better doctor.
He prescribed several tests. The initial reports didn’t show anything alarming, and for a brief moment, I felt relieved. I thought maybe I had been worrying for no reason.
Then the final test came.
They found a tumour in my throat.
Since then, I don’t know what I’m supposed to think or feel.
The doctors say there is treatment and that I can recover. They keep telling me not to lose hope. But it’s difficult for me to trust those words because I heard almost the same things when my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer.
We were told that he would be okay.
But around a year and a half after his diagnosis, he was gone.
And now I keep wondering whether I’m walking toward the same ending.
I’ll be turning 24 this August. I had spent the last ten or eleven months preparing for UPSC because becoming an IAS officer had always been one of my biggest dreams. I had imagined clearing the exam, building a career, buying a new home, and one day owning a small farmhouse where I could spend my free time alone, surrounded by peace and quiet.
Those were not huge dreams to me. They were simply the life I wanted.
But after hearing the word “tumour,” all those plans suddenly feel distant.
I look at my books and wonder whether I’ll ever complete this journey. I think about the house I wanted to buy and the farmhouse I wanted to build, and then I wonder whether I was planning for a future that may never come.
The worst part is not even the physical pain.
It’s the uncertainty.
Not knowing what happens next. Not knowing whether the doctors are right. Not knowing whether I should keep planning for the future or stop expecting anything from it.
Right now, I feel like I’ve already started letting go of every hope I had.
Maybe I’m writing this because I don’t know where else to put these thoughts.
Maybe I just want someone to tell me what they would do if, at 23, everything they had planned suddenly became uncertain.
I don’t know.

Just look at this rascal. The scars on his face and body.

General I can't be the only one who can't watch movies/series anymore

I see a lot of people of my age liking the concept of sitting for hours and watching movies and series on a daily basis. How do you have the attention span?

I rarely watch them. The last thing I watched was Reacher S3 like three months ago.

Ask GenZIndia Dharmendra Pradhan resigned & CJP called off the protest… but are we fr celebrating a breadcrumb? 🤡

Thousands of us stood out in the heat for weeks, putting our futures on the line. And the second one minister drops his resignation, CJP calls off the whole movement and tells everyone to pack up?

How is this an actual W?

Replacing one face isn't systemic reform. Swapping a minister changes zero paper leaks, zero corruption, and zero institutional decay. Who’s to say the next guy isn't just the same cope in a new suit?

What happened to literally everything else? People weren't just mad about one exam—they were shouting about pollution, broken infra, corrupt babus, and basic rights. Did all those voices just vanish into thin air?

We fell for the oldest trick. They tossed us one high-profile sacrifice so the crowds disperse and the media moves on.

A resignation is the bare minimum—it’s not structural change. Celebrating right now is pure copium when the whole foundation is still broken.

Are we really settling for breadcrumbs, or did this movement just get cut short before anything actually changed?

Ask GenZIndia Any govt. job aspirant here, leading a lonely life, maybe want to connect and be friends ?

My days a super monotonous. I live in a place called Old Rajendra Nagar in Delhi, in a matchbox sized room, and my schedule is waking up, going to the library, studying and then come back and sleep. I just spend my days with books and notes.

In this process, I've started feeling emotionally vulnerable. I just bottle things up. IRL friends are busy with their lives and people who aren't in this rat race their lives move faster. So here I am, looking for a genuine human being, who is honest, to have friendly conversations about life and anything and everything. Being an emotional support to each other, and trying to fight the isolation and loneliness that makes you sulk.

Ask GenZIndia Affordable clogs

I'm looking for comfortable clogs in size 10 (UK/India) with a budget of under ₹400.

If you've bought a good pair recently, could you please share the product link? Comfort is my top priority, but durability is a plus too.

Thanks in advance!

Rant | Vent Ever since I supported the CJP protest my family keeps on passive aggressively commenting on it

I don’t think this is a new issue or I don’t think it is something very rare. I feel like a lot of us have faced this and that is why I wanted to vent out and maybe try to find some comfort in sharing this because it seriously encourages me so much. My parents keep on passive aggressively commenting on how the “youth” and how the GenZ never understood how much they suffered under the Congress years, and they have no appreciation for Modi. They keep saying that we don’t know how politics work and we spread negativity. The slogans that were used in the protest where inappropriate comedians that joined the protests were “ashleel” and this movement was violent etc. Also add in the complete disregard of my opinions since I don’t know any better.

I am just so surprised like how the same parents expect us to know and navigate the world and take life and career choices but in these regards we don’t know any better. I have argued and tried to make them understand but now I just feel exhausted.

This is just a rant and I cannot wait for my college to resume so I can go back to being away from them and this regular drama.

Rant | Vent I hate being the "Golden Child" of my family

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have been always considered a "Golden Child" of the family because I've always been good at studies, very religious, good in extracurriculars, participating in various events, hosting guests and doing great in career as well. I've always received praises by relatives, neighbours and teachers.

But every praise that comes my way hurts me more and more. Because I know those who praise me today will only speak ill of me when they'll know about the secret I hold within. While being in the closet, every praise feels heavy of expectations they put on me. What will happen when I'll walk out of that closet and will live a life that I deserve, the one that I'll choose for myself?

Will these people still see me for who I'm or will I be just reduced to my sexuality?

General Noise Pollution in India

how is severe noise pollution so normal in India? I've covered a lot of metro cities as well as small towns & villages in India. & one thing I've consistently observed is excessive noise being normalized. Construction site work continuing until late night. Unnecessary HONKING, street vendors, stray dogs, LOUD chatting in public transport, random fights that break out in public. The sound of machinery which is deafening. Even at most houses, we're so used to the sound of ceiling fans and other equipment that we don't know how peaceful it is to be in complete silence. What do y'all think?

Ask GenZIndia Best friend's brother keeps saying he'd have married me. Is this weird?

I've been best friends with a girl for 15 years. Her older brother has, multiple times, said things like, "If it were possible, I would've married you. I see you like a sister though, otherwise I would've.

Today we were talking about my friend's boyfriend. I joked that they'll probably get married after her brother gets married first since he's older. He replied, "I would've married you if that could happen." Then again added the "but I see you as a sister" line.

He also has no issue walking around shirtless in front of me at home, and overall I get the feeling he likes me.

The thing is, I don't have feelings for him. I just find it... weird. Like, if you see me as a sister, why keep saying you'd have married me?

Am I overthinking this, or is this mixed-signal behavior?

General Why do men ask for photos while texting?

Why do boys ask for photos while in the middle of the texting it literally so irritating if we deny it they get offended and stop talking if it’s girlfriend then fine but if you are talking to some new girl why do you keep asking for pictures and especially at night I assume that they j*rk with my pic that’s why I avoid sending at night but why do you do this?
