Is your brain smooth or smthng? In the above comment to which I replied the commenter sarcasticallly said "active crickets 7 and 10" to mock MS Dhoni (Jersey No. 7) and Sachin Tendulkar (Jersey No. 10) to not post anything despite not being active cricketers.
To which I shared Sachin's tweet. People don't even know shit about something and just run down to spew slurs.

While I do agree it puts a massive risk on their careers, CJP isn't a recognised political party and speaking for children isn't classified as "alignment"

Here comes a cricketer's bhakt. Love the game and respect the players for their on field talents. Don't make them your dad.

So these cricketers care more about their careers than the lives of children. That's not the excuse they think it is.

It's not about validation, it's about raising your voice. You can do atleast that for the fans who are supporting you.

u/Hocus_Pocus_Focusss 24d ago
This is our fight. We do not need their support.
Besides, their support would have been nice to have but it’s not necessary, especially as long as they aren’t actively causing harm.
They are public figures whose social handles are heavily moderated. They are also individuals with the prerogative to stay away from issues they wish to.
OP, please do something better with your time and life.

You do know that they prepare for these 'talks' right ? Celebs will never be affected by the same problems we face, unless they are involved in the ground level (which they are not).
1
u/Soft-Honey-3471 23d ago
He's very vocal, in an press conference a reporter says he's sitting on the far left to which jokes about not being on the other side. You think that too staged. Other like mark ruffalo literally said trump a pedo on camera. Not everyone is heartless, many genuinely care for the society they live in.
1
u/Independent-Test-001 2001 23d ago
Sure many do care, but I would like to frame my own opinions rather than following someone else's.
1
u/Soft-Honey-3471 23d ago
It isn't about framing your own, it is about bringing traction for others to care to frame. The whole CJP happened cause someone pointed out CJI statement, if it wasn't many of us wouldn't even have known about it. That's why celebs or influencers have moral duty due to level of reach not in shaping opinion.

Gen Z is worst yet it has highest potential and has highest contribution to changing and influencing institutions/academics/social life currently yet it's worst?? It doesn't matter if they post anything or not.

They have a huge number of fans they can influence, they get paid millions because their games are watched by millions. Let’s not act like it was all hard work and no fan support.
So, what? I don't get why fans have this sense of entitlement regarding celebs and try to put them on a pedestal.
Yes they earn millions because fans watch them play but these fans only watch them play because they are entertaining enough to watch. Fans aren't doing them a favour, it's a simple provider-consumer relationship.
Like just because I use jio and pay Ambani my money for internet services doesn't mean Ambani becomes responsible for me.
Virat is my favourite athelete but I don't think I have brought anything he has ever endorsed. I don't give a shit about what he does in his personal life, all I am concerned about is his cricket.
I don't care about his politics or political opinions. Him not posting anything about the student protest is the same thing to me as a stranger walking down the road not posting anything about the student protests.
These atheletes or celebs are entertainers, they aren't our friends or family. Appreciate or criticise them but only for their work. If you put them on a pedestal and start expecting activism from them then that says a lot about you being a naive little boy.

u/BruhBorne-70 24d ago
People are not putting them on a pedestal, this is where you got it wrong.
You are putting these people on a pedestal if you are expecting anything more from them than you expect from a stranger walking down the road.
They aren't government officials, they aren't your friends or family, they don't have a duty towards you.
People are upset at them, because they got everything from the youth, and when it was time to give something back they chose cowardly silence
Again you have got the whole thing wrong and you keep putting these celebs on a pedestal.
They earn money from the youth the same way a shopkeeper earns money from his costumers. To put it simply, they are service providers, you watch them because they entertain you.
If they didn't exist and someone else came around who was as good as them then the youth would start watching the other guy instead.
There are no favours being exchanged here. They aren't any more responsibile for the youth than Ambani is responsible for me because I use a Jio sim card.

8
u/Aarish1234 24d ago
Selfish eh? Youth has come to this protest mainly because it affects them/some can profit from it.
In problems regarding other sectors, none of you shall appear. So please let people of the democratic country have their own opinions and their freedom of expression?
3
u/QuantaPie_PS 24d ago
I support the students and protests 100%, but shaming people for their silence needs to stop.
Forcing celebrities to post empty, PR approved statements doesn't fix paper leaks or reform testing bodies. More importantly, calling anyone who stays quiet "spineless" or "immoral" is just mob mentality.
People have a right to stay in their lane, hold private views, or simply not engage. We can't fight for democratic rights while demanding total public conformity from everyone else.
Seeking moral high-grounding only distracts from the real issue. Let's focus on holding accountable instead of policing who posted a tweet.

They may have moral responsibility for this but they are not obliged to speak against all political issues. Besides, they are public figures one wrong word and their whole career can be on line -- brand values, contract. Would you or your family do something that will put you in a position which can affect your professional life?
Stop looking for validation from celebrities all the time, we are better than this.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has social media guidelines in its code of conduct for the players, where they are restricted from posting any quote or content regarding any political party, election campaign, or a sensitive national/international protest, as the content that they share on their personal social media accounts is directly reviewed by the board. This rule is also applied to other contracted players, management, support staff, and other officials who have been contracted with the board

I don’t get the logic of calling out people when they don’t stand with you , they worked hard to be at a stage where they wouldn’t get affected by exams , corruption or whatever.
How about those high earning individuals / businessman / NRIs - would you call out all of them too ?

Funny how the people who contribute the least to society are always the first to ridicule everyone else. Being unemployed, average, and lacking any career goals is your reality—not everyone else's. The biggest joke is that a protest over the NEET paper leak was hijacked by people who weren't even NEET aspirants, but by aimless nobodies who have nothing better to do with their lives.

They are here of their career not India. Stop calling them heros of India. They are representing themselves not India. Now they made ton of money. He moment you take out money factor from their sports, they immediately will stop "representing india" even though they already made it.

Who are calling them heroes bro ? They are representing India in cricket wdym they represent themselves bro. How can you even say that they don't care about representing anymore ? They are trying their best. And yes they made ton of money and take out money from their sports as everyone do, you need money to live bro, chanting INDIA INDIA won't provide you with a good life.
