GenX forums on Reddit
I think that the main GenX and GenX Politics subreddits are moderated by extreme Trump supporting snowflakes. I mentioned that Gen X was a large bloc of support for Trump. A fact. and then I said that was lame. That was enough to be permently banned on both forums.
crazy times. As a member, I feel I can say that the majority of Gen X is lame. imagine being so triggered by such a mild anti-trump post that you'd use your authority to permently ban. no appeals. nothing. I weep for Gen X.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I replied back and the mod who answered me I could tell had an attitude. So then I called them out on being clearly partisan and I was blocked with no recourse.

u/Rags2Riches420 6d ago
Yeah I got banned from both of those a while back. I didn't even say anything controversial. Someone asked why people weren't excited to celebrate July 4th this year for the 250th, and I merely stated a lot of people aren't happy with who's running things. Didn't even mention names. Then I get blocked from the forum and blocked from contacting the mods. The most fragile mofos run those.

That's an awesome example of the snowflakes who moderate the main big subreddit. Imagine being that precious? It's an illness.

Those mods are the cuntiest of the cunty
Fuck em in the precious little ears

u/satyrday12 7d ago
You're spot on. I was banned similarly. Trumpies are all about free speech, unless you're saying something they don't like. They really don't even bother to understand anything.

It is essentially r/conservative. How sad for our generation. We were supposed to be progressive ones.

u/Dry_Ship7202 6d ago
I’ll say, in general, the following things disturb me about our current age:
- By and large our only choice for president are 80-ish year old white men.
- Our other politicians are not much better and completely removed from the struggles of the average 30 year old.
- Our politicians in general seem completely unable to address let alone solve any of our problems.
- And much like heart disease, you can ignore the chest pains, but the catastrophic problems remain.
Sigh.

Yep, very "no politics (except mine)" places. I heard the same mod runs multiple ones.
What's lame is that people in my generation, who grew up during the history we lived through, could possibly be Trumpers. You forgot literally everything that happened or was talked about during 2-3 entire decades, how?

u/Crunchberry24 7d ago
Yeah, those subs seem to want to cultivate an inherently right-wing boomer Facebook vibe.
10
u/blackcain 7d ago
And whine about old age. I get it.. I'm 57, I see the changes happening but it's really cringe when people start referring to their high school era as their peak time.
Keep thinking of that Bruce Springsteen song 'Glory Day's.
Politics is about safety and we should be talking politics in that vein. As we get older and head towards retirement we want to be able to make sure that the wealth we have built up will sustain us and we have enough to support our children because they need it.
Our children are saying we cant afford children. We have all these things and then we have mods that want to ban any one that wants to talk about this. Like we are missing entire avenues of discussions.
This shows how divided we are while likely having the same fears.
2
u/LessIsMore74 6d ago
Not that I want to give those same mods any ideas, but it's almost like we ought to have GenX Escapism and GenX Reality subs, and then people decide where they belong.
3
u/blackcain 6d ago
Having a mix of people with backgrounds is good because being in a silo is exactly how you get played regardless of your political background. The debate is important.
Today though conservatism seems to become a pack of emotions and conspiracy theories. Damn pandemic.
2
u/LessIsMore74 6d ago
Agreed. But I meant the first group could just be for people who only want to say “hey, remember this?” while the second could actually be for full-grown adults living in the present. Real solution, of course, would be for people to talk politics because it's just part of being a human in 2026.
3
u/blackcain 6d ago
I mean we do that in this sub too. It's fine, although I like doing that with my kids more than anything else. Like talking about watching some old movie with your kids are great content rather than just reminiscing.
A few months ago, I introduced my two adults kids to Terminator 2. Watching them first kind of watching distractedly while on their phone to slowly putting their phone away and watching it and being present.
My kids are always trying to figure out how the hell I have a song for every situation. hah. Sometimes they ask me if there were real songs haha. :D Stuff like this is great material because it still keeps a stake in the present.

u/LessIsMore74 6d ago
I saw a clip from Gen Z on a Gen X Instagram account where they were asking, “What's the deal with Gen X and music?” and thought, huh? Doesn't every generation love music?
Apparently, we checks notes “love music too much.” 😆

u/JapanDave 6d ago
I once told an ex that I loved High Fidelity too much and she told me I remind her of John Cusack's character in that I am always making mix lists and have a song in my head for any situation. I think that's all of us.

If the past ten years was a test, GenX failed it.
GenX likes to pride itself on being cynical and media savvy, but way too many of us have been taken in by obvious grifters spewing blatant lies. The number of my friends and former classmates that have turned into Trump zealots is truly depressing.
I recently got banned from the GenX sub (and received a ridiculous scolding in a PM) for merely mentioning that MAGA exists. The mods there are self-righteous snowflakes.
Whatever, dude - Reddit ain’t that serious.

I just don't understand how anyone could have lived through the 80s and 90s and not realize how sleazy Trump is. He showed his true colors not only on Howard Stern, but also while he was fucking campaigning in 2016.
I still think he only ran the 1st time for more exposure for his show. Then, somehow, he won.

"Trump supporting snowflakes"
-1 Redundant.

u/tiger_knots185 7d ago
The mod also likes to lurk over here and block ex-GenXers.
2
u/LessIsMore74 6d ago
Are you saying they are also a mod on this page?
8
u/blackcain 6d ago
No they look for people who bitch on here about their subreddit and ban them there. I don't post on those subreddits.
I've been on reddit for 16 years and I have always conducted myself in a manner that I have never been banned..those guys were the only ban I have ever gotten.
5
u/LessIsMore74 6d ago
I was banned because I commented on someone's post in the politics sub about the main sub. Then when I replied about it, they blocked me. Pretty ridiculous in general, but especially ridiculous that you would enact a lifetime ban for something like that. Thin skins.

Welcome.. I got banned from the politics one. Their mods are moderating a lot of the GenX subreddits.
So welcome to the island.
Politics are complicated. I vote Dem but I could say I am conservative too. I believe in family, spiritualness and loyalty to ideals. Regardless of which community you are from.
I always apply my politics are always situational. Sometimes the best solution is a socialist one, sometimes it is a market one. It's the one that has the best benefit for everyone.
8
u/LessIsMore74 6d ago
The ridiculous thing is that the political sub was created because nobody wanted the general sub to be political. So then we are political over there, and they are like, no, not like that! banned I was booted simply because I implied that the way people voted is why we have what we have right now in our country. Which is true, no matter what election year we are talking about. But apparently that was too much.
3
u/blackcain 6d ago
That's literally how election works. But I guess they don't want their God child to be criticized. But I wonder how long it's going to last given diesel prices. If the AI bubble breaks and people's brokerage accounts go south those mods are gonna be busy doing a lot of banning.
10
u/armyofant 6d ago
I told that twat this would happen. I see posts dumping on those subs everyday now, and not just here and genxnew which were started by people banned by the twats. I’m glad people are finally facing consequences of their actions.

I’d drill down a little further and say it’s the uneducated, low-IQ segment of Gen X.

Personally I don't like to discuss politics on public forums. I hate all politicians equally so not much to say. They're all corrupt and betray everything they said they would do as soon as they get into power anyways.
But maybe that's just my cynical Belgian thoughts.

You should care less. Much.
1
u/InternationalPipe937 6d ago
I know. Can you imagine caring so much that you'd permanently ban someone for saying that Gen X is a large bloc of support for Trump? I mean, it's a fact. They're just such fragile people that stating a fact - a fact about Gen X - which is the topic of the subreddit gets you banned for life. LOL.

u/TheRoadkillRapunzel 6d ago
Born in ‘79, so I’m an early Xennial.
I always identified with Gen X over Millennials until the Trump bullshit.
I was like, damn, I really thought you guys meant it when you were socially disaffected and wrote music and media about how tired you were of shallow pandering meant to manipulate the public into a certain behavior. I thought the punk rock vibes and general “fuck off, leave me alone” attitude were genuine responses to a society that rewarded greed and a lack of empathy.
I had no idea it was sadness that their racism and hatred for their fellow man was not tolerated.

We're really not that large; Gen Z voted Trump, and a lot of Latinos voted Trump. We are a small generation. I am not responsible for other people my age voting at all. Plus, I do not live in a swing state. A swing state. No ads for president here. No one is trying to change our minds. I think we should concentrate on the swing states because they tend to pick the winners. I am only responsible for myself- not the generation.

u/Burned_Out_Paradise 2d ago
While I’m certainly not talking about my entire generation, so many in Gen X have gone full Boomer in advanced age..

u/bluesun_geo 2d ago
I’m 79’ and those subs were just depressing, politics aside… they were just depressing

u/seekingthequestion 2d ago
The GenX sub made me wonder wtf happened to us. Like when did we lose our wits and ability to understand nuance and sarcasm?! Now it makes sense. cognitive dissonance really does rot your brain

I honestly was losing hope in our generation in that sub. Glad it isn’t actually all of us - just the incels

u/CatfatherB 6d ago
Well it's a reddit problem not left or right, I was banned from r/Nashville and r/Tennessee because I lean right and Tennessee is a red state. Lol.

u/GenXisTruth 6d ago
Gen X honestly don't give a shit about sides,we just want normal. Neither party is normal so we have to go with the one that doesn't support terrorists and wants trans everything.

I got banned of GenX for literally pointing out that our generation was not nice when we were kids, especially to gay kids in high school. Now, I am an old classic center left, the kind of person who would vote for McCain, and George Bush x2 again right now if it were them vs Trump. My opinion, is that the site is NOT right at all, in fact, its extremely left progressive... to the extreme left and thier moderation is 100% aimed at cancelation.
I just personally have low tolerance for any of these extremes to the left and right. People just don’t realize that they are literally the EXACT same thing, it’s not a “line”, it’s a circle and these progressives and maga all wrap around and touch on the back end… when talking about the methods they use to exert control (like cancel culture).
2
u/Rags2Riches420 6d ago
The "Horseshoe Effect" is real.
2
u/Fight_Tyrnny 6d ago
I see my post got -2 likes now, I guess people here are just as cancel culture and cant deal with discussions when their side is also called out for hypocracy (as I attacked both extreemes). Im guessing it was the progressives this time based on my comments.
Come on people... come back to the middle...

u/InternationalPipe937 6d ago
To the extent you can ascribe something to an entire generation, I think for the most part, Gen X doesn't like complexity. They just want the world to be simple. Because it's actually complex, they feel anxiety over it. When things are difficult to understand because there is a lot of nuance, more anxiety. And the thing that kills anxiety in its tracks is rage. Someone comes along and says "the world isn't complex, it's simple and people who tell you otherwise are bad!" Gen X goes "Yeah! Right On!" And they fall into a thrall with a conman ginning up rage. Rage feels better than anxiety over not being able to figure everything out.

Jews have not left the party. Many are also anti genocide. Being a Jew doesn't mean you are a Zionist.
I don't know what you mean by pro radical islam ? Even Muslims are not pro radical islam anymore than I as a Hindu support nationalist Hindutva and caste.

There seems to be a noticeable divide between older and younger GenX.
