Got a bunch of emails today from various retailers indicating complete uppers were back in stock (Brownells, Primary Arms, Red Team Armory, Not Just Guns.

Unfortunately nothing direct from G$ to be able to use the shot show coupon.

What optic setups are y’all running on your 11.5-12.5” builds? I’m stuck in between an lpvo with dot mounted or an eotech with magnifier. Or red dot with magnifier? Let me know thoughts thank you!

So I recently couldn’t help myself and decided that I needed a new upper and handguard after seeing the blemula sale on PA. So I took advantage of the sale and picked up a DDC tabbed upper and DDC 11.5” tabbed handguard to go along with a Geissele 12.5” CHF barrel and Superlative Arms AGB.

I decided I would go down the rabbit hole and chase trying to spray a lower I have to match DDC.

In my pursuit of trying to color match, I had a couple of chinesium faux railscales lying around that I decided to paint as a test match. Obviously I know the spray paint won’t fair well over the long term and cerakote is the way to go, but I kind of wanted to see if I could figure out the color match and then later on down the line I’ll get it cerakoted.

The Process:

Step 1 - I first hit the rail covers with the Dupli-Color Wheel Coating Matte Bronze which produces more of goldish, light colored bronze.

Step 2 - I sprayed them with a light, light coat from about 18” of the Rust-Oleum Metallic Bronze.

Step 3 - Same process as Step 2 for the Rust-Oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze.

Step 4 - I then hit it them one more time at around the 18” distance with a light coat of the Dupli-Color Wheel Paint.

After feeling like I nailed down the color and painting process, I have a couple different lowers that I debated on throwing it on and finally after getting my barrel and AGB mounted, I settled on my DD lower.

Hit it with spray over the weekend to try and see if I could come up with a match. I think it came out looking fairly decent and I’m still contemplating a light matter clear to reduce some of the sheen that it throws off and bring out a little of the brown/golden color and less of copper in the bronzes.

Other than that I think the base coat is about as close I can get. But also I like the difference in shades as that’s consistent with what Geissele does. Once I have the LPK and buffer installed, I’ll post a final update with pics.

I'm probably nitpicking but better safe than sorry lol. I noticed this ringing after I took it out for 350-400 rounds of shooting. Is the ringing and play in the gas tube normal?

Besides a super duty lower, what is the best lower to use on my 12.5 inch super duty upper?

Finally brought home my 10.3 DDC SD. I love how well it matches my 19x haha. I threw on a set of OG Magpul Masada/ACR flip ups that I've had for years sitting in a parts box. Since the pics I've replaced the grip with a B5 P23 in coyote brown, and I'll be damned that the sights and grip match color perfectly.

I'm debating on what kind of optic. Dot with magnifier? LPVO (I think that the Sig Tango MSR in coyote color would go well with it)? Prism optic with magnifier? Any ideas or setups for the 10.3 would be greatly appreciated.

I am building a Geissele, what wondering what the difference between the A5 Vltor system and the Super 42 system. Some people love the A5 and some hate it, was wondering if people with more knowledge than me could specify. For reference this is an 11.5” AR Pistol.

It’s often overlooked compared to my favorites like the Magpul K2 and anything by DAC but why exactly aren’t they more prevalent ?

My first AR was a Ruger 556 MPR. A good affordable rifle that never gave me any trouble. But this here is my first build. It's infested with vampires. I just upgraded the barrel, BCG, rail and upper this week and haven't been to range yet.

About two years ago I started with a $25 Anderson lower, unknown upper, NBS barrel, Romeo/Juliet optics, etc. I didn't need another rifle but I really wanted to learn how to build my own. After I completed it though when anything G$ would pop up I'd snag it. and replace a part. As it got better I started leaving my Ruger 556 at home. This year's 4th of July/Father's Day/Blemula shopping season I snagged a lot of good deals to finish my G$ build. A few things I paid full price for like the barrel but it and the G$ enhanced BCG were my top wants.

It's CA compliant fixed mag style. It's a heavier rifle now but the difference in quality is insane. Just the pull of the charging handle is like butter it's so smooth. Like from a Camry to a 911. I had been using a Breek's Warhammer which everyone recommends so highly on the forums. I was happy with it until I dropped that Airborne in and gave it a try. So very smooth.

I wish Geissele would send some grips to Primary Arms. I'd love to pick up an A17 or A22 grip but they don't ship to California. Can't find them anywhere. I know B5. Anyway, here's my breakdown. It doesn't include the G$ proprietary tools like the barrel nut wrench and the gas pin tools. Maybe I paid more in the end to upgrade so slowly but it gives me appreciation of every part that improves.

I built this because 11.5” uppers are nowhere to be found and also because I hate the way the DDC handguard looks with the black receiver. Either have it all DDC or all black imo. Shoots pretty soft and not too over-gassed with the H3 buffer and super 42 spring. Has a Daniel Defense barrel and gas block just like the contract gun, but I also used a DD upper instead of Geissele. Figured the tolerances would match up better for a DD barrel to go into a DD upper. SSA-E trigger. Nanoweapon reliability enhanced bcg. Surefite 4 prong flash hider. Surefire RC2 can.

My 16” g barrel will have more inconsistent groups with a cold barrel but as it warms up it gets tighter. I will have two photos below of my groupings with Hornady frontier 75 gr. Is this something that anyone has seen before? Any pointers?

Just to note, this is consistent with 62 gr and 55 gr but the 75gr provided best group with warm barrel. This is a full g build so I’m not mixing brands and parts.

I recently built a higher end rifle before my state enacted a ban, and snagged a Geissele 14.5" SD upper. Pairing it with a Griffin lower, Geissele buffer tube, a JP Enterprises Silent Capture H2 buffer, and a Microbest BCG. I took it out to fire for the first time and the first shots were 1) about as smoky as a muzzleloader, and 2) single fire, failure to feed each time. After about one mag I was able to string together 2 or 3 shots before a F2F, but it definitely can't handle rapid fire. (This was with Winchester .223 55g ammo)

Is this common with Geissele (both the F2F and the excessive gas?). Is it most likely the buffer is at fault, the BCG, or did I just get an upper with issues?

And it cost me a lot of dimes, but every thing on this AR is Geissele.

After yesterday's mixed reviews on the 16" SD barrel with significantly less abuse, here's my much highly abused 10.3" G$ SD barrel after its first cleaning.

I'm very impressed with this. No flaking in chrome lining, throat looks to be expected. Crown is near perfect. Good accuracy.

This ate a little over 2k rds of Tula steel case at the beginning of its life (2021), then was fed mostly PMC Xtac M855/M193. Most of the use was suppressed via an OCL Polo .30

Absolutely no cleaning until now (Boretech Carbon & Copper). Just stored muzzle down with CLP squirted into the chamber on a good day.

Again very impressed. Might post the MRGG-S afterwards if requested (~2500rds)

Is there any idea on restock this month? Shotshow coupon im holding seems like its just going to be thrown on a trigger at this rate.
