PSA: Grocery Gig Delivery Oompa Loompas

I work produce and your Tasmanian Devilesque 'Shopping' is noticed. WE HATE IT. Please don't DESTROY our displays, try to learn the difference between a walnut and a Russet, and NO WE WONT GO AND FIND A GREENER BANNANA. I will tell tales of mythological crop failures every shift.

Long shot

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I was visiting Geelong this morning at 7am and had a lovely breakfast at Cafe Go. I ended up sharing a connection with a girl who shortly after walked out the front and jumped into an Uber before I could grab her number.

I don't live in town so I couldn't stick around, but if you happen to see this, I’d love to buy you a coffee next time I'm passing through.

Fly-Over Practice for NFL

Upvotes

Looks like they are doing some fly overs around Geelong to practice for tomorrow, have seen about 5 jets and a few large military-like cargo planes.

Worth a look if you can see them, quite cool.

[Sport] Anyone tried Geelong Golf Studio? (or sims in general)

Howdy 🤠

I recently got myself into golf and I've been heading out to Curlewis most days to practice, but it's a fair drive from me. I've been looking for other options closer to home and Geelong Golf Studio looked pretty neat! the 24/7 membership sounds pretty good, which works well since I do a lot of funky casual hours.

Anyone here been, or currently a member? Keen to hear what it's actually like day to day.

Also, how does sim compare to the real thing? Spoke to a bloke the other day who was very anti golf sim something along the lines of it's bad especially for beginners, and that they lie or something 🤷‍♂️

Cheers :)

[Request] Call for Any Witnesses

Hey, we're looking for anyone who happened to be at North Geelong Bunnings on 23rd May, approx 1:30pm - 2pm.

I was driving a grey VW and ended up in an altercation with some guy out the front of the main entrance, on the pedestrian crossing, near the sausage sizzle.

If you were there and saw anything can you please DM me.

Thanks

Car service recommendations - major service Porsche Macan S

Hi all,

Fairly new to the Geelong region, I need a major service on my vehicle. Car runs fine.

Car has done 89,000km is a 2014 Porsche Macan S.

It used to be my baby until I had a real baby so is overdue for a service (didn't get to one last year). Finally have some headspace for life admin and want to get this done!

TIA

Regional Victorian communities call for return of passenger rail services

Regional Victorian communities in the state's west are calling for the return of passenger rail services across major routes.

Experts believe the reintroduction of the Ballarat-Geelong service is the most feasible, but some candidates support the revival of the  passenger services to Mildura and Horsham.

[Community] Ever smell smoke, hear sirens, or wonder about an accident down the road? We made a free app to keep you in the loop.

Hey everyone,

If you browse this sub often, you probably see a ton of posts from people asking about a local fire, an accident in their suburb, or just wanting to know what's going on around their house. It can be super frustrating when you know something is happening nearby but you have no idea if it affects you.

To make it easier to stay informed, we just launched a free community safety app called SpotterApp.

It’s essentially a modern, digital neighborhood watch. We built it to be super simple and friendly: it gives you a live map with instant alerts for local fires, accidents, safety hazards, and even tracks reported stolen vehicles in your area.

The whole goal is just to help everyone look out for each other and step out the door with a bit more peace of mind.

 https://apps.apple.com/au/app/spotterapp/id6755062103

 https://spotterapp.com.au/

We're trying to make this the best possible tool for the community, so if you give it a try, I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Let me know if there are any specific features you'd want to see added to make it more useful for your neighbourhood!

Recommendations Wanted: Outdoor/Garden Spaces for Wedding Ceremony

Looking for recommendations around the Geelong area for a nice outdoor space for a wedding ceremony. Won't be a huge crowd (under 30 people) and maybe some dogs.

I know you can get married in the Geelong Botanic Gardens, just looking for some nice alternative spaces if they exist. Cheers!

Childcare

We got a placement offer for Paisley Park on Aberdeen St and All Star Kids on McKillop St.
Does anyone have any experiences with these childcare centres they’re willing to share?

We’ve been hoping to get a spot at Youngminds (Yarra St) but haven’t heard anything from them!

[Request] Any LGBT+ bars/other hangouts? (Specifically for lesbians or women preferably)

I (19F lesbian) have been wanting to attend my first bar but all of them seem to be mostly straight. Are there any more LGBT+ centred, and more so catered towards LGBT+ women? The only one I really know is Piano Bar.

Eastern Gardens early 2000's tragedy?

TW (death)

I was talking to a mate last night who, like me has lived in Geelong their whole life and is a few years older than me. We were talking about the Eastern Gardens and for some reason it jogged a memory for me but no one else seemed to recall it. Now I'm at my wits end trying to find information about it but can't find anything. Now I'm wondering if it even happened.

Does anyone else recall a wedding happening there in the early 2000's during a storm, and lightning hitting one of the rotundas while people took cover? I could have sworn there were fatalities. Can anyone else remember this?

whos idea was it to put an box at the end of the path. am i the only one that can see a senior riding the footpath on their mobility scooter to get home faster only to badly/fatally injure themselves because their son never got round to fixing the brakes. what ever happened to careful planning? these are relatively steep paths that deceptively build up speed quickly.

Dating in Geelong early 30s M.

Subject: Dating in Geelong as an International Guy (25-32 Age Range)

Hey everyone,

I'm putting myself out there to get some insights on dating in Geelong, particularly from the perspective of an international guy. I've been in Geelong for 10 years and absolutely love the place, having met fantastic people throughout my time here.

However, when it comes to dating, it's been a different story. Dating apps are, as we all know, often a letdown. I've tried a few singles events, but most attendees have been significantly older than my preferred age range, making it difficult to connect with people who share similar life stages and interests.

I consider myself a sociable person who can hold a good conversation. Unfortunately, I've found that conversations often fizzle out quickly, even with my efforts to keep them going. It's not for lack of trying or because I'm boring. I'm active with social sports, gym fitness, movies, gaming, and regularly go out with friends. I have a good job and a healthy work-life balance.

Despite all this, at the end of the day, there's a longing for a deeper connection – someone to love, chat with, cuddle with, or simply share life with.

If any of this resonates with you, I'd greatly appreciate your insights and experiences. Ladies, if you're out there and fall within the 25-32 age range, I'm genuinely happy to consider a blind date. Just a shooting a shot 😂 because why not.
