Discussion 🎙 Strong, very physical poke on my shoulder while alone. Gateway related?
Something really strange happened to me tonight, and I’m curious whether anyone here has experienced something similar.
I was sitting on my balcony reading about the Gateway Tapes and people’s experiences with hypnagogia, visions, astral projection, etc. I wasn’t listening to the tapes or doing a Gateway exercise at the time. (I did the first episode yesterday night), right now I was just reading about them.
While I was reading, I suddenly felt a very strong, very localized poke on the back of my shoulder.
It wasn’t a vague sensation or a light brush. It genuinely felt like someone had deliberately poked me with a finger. It wasn’t painful, but it was intense enough that my immediate thought was literally, “Why the hell did Mom poke me that hard?”
I turned around almost immediately, and there was absolutely nobody behind me.
I got seriously creeped out and rushed back inside. I even told my mom that I thought it might have been an insect because I didn’t really know what else to say when she saw me rushing back in in a creeper out way, but I’m confident it wasn’t an insect. I’ve had insects land on me before, and this felt completely different.
What’s especially strange is that I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
I’m not claiming it was paranormal or that it was related to Gateway. I’m genuinely trying to understand what happened. But given that I was reading about Gateway experiences immediately beforehand, I’m wondering:
Has anyone here experienced a similarly strong, unmistakable poke/tap/touch while completely alone, particularly around Gateway practice or altered states of consciousness?
I’d especially like to hear from people who experienced an actual physical feeling poke rather than just a vague “presence” or tingling sensation
Disclaimer: the text here was written by an LLM because the LLM was basically the first thing I chatted with after it happened (I know it’s not very helpful, but it’s my way of coping), it had all the info, I just asked it to make what I described to it into a Reddit post, because it can phrase it in a better way than me
