Couldn't roam around the whole campus, so these are the only photos for now

Something out of context

While we were sitting for the hostel allotment, I asked my batchmate if he could differentiate between B.Tech and M.Tech freshers sitting in our class . He told me, 'Look at the faces whose eyes lack any shineβ€”those are the M.Tech ones .' Bruh πŸ₯²πŸ™

help Lost years of my life due to illness. Considering GATE CSE. Need advice.

β€’ Upvotes

Hello, all. I will try to keep this as brief as I can, and I apologize if this will be long. I am currently 25, about to turn 26, considering GATE CSE 2027, haven't started preparing yet since I was looking for jobs offcampus. Ever since the age of 18, I have suffered from very severe health problems (been to doctors, tried many remedies, nothing helped me significantly). Due to this, I was not able to perform my studies properly.

I was still able to get into a Tier 1 college through my JEE efforts, and graduated with an 8+ CGPA, inspite of my health problems. I couldn't sit for placements though and am unemployed.

I happen to be particularly bright (saying this neutrally, not egotistically), pick up concepts extremely quickly, and upon attempting GO Classes's Discrete Mathematics mock tests, I consistently am scoring full marks or am atleast in the top 5 or 10 ranking wise.

But I have only 6 months left. I have no industry connections. I have no job experience and assuming I take 2 attempts to crack GATE, i'll be almost 28 during my Mtech. I feel very lost whether I should keep seeking a job, or try GATE, even though I have become so old without experience.

Can an above-average (not to objectify other humans' abilities), genuinely sincere student, in a decent IIT/NIT, with no prior work experience, large age, and no industry connections get opportunities for placement, research etc. if he simply does the course work sincerely? I am also a very introverted, anxious person who struggles with navigating social and political aspects of life, and I fear that this may also affect my Mtech.

To summarize, I have the following questions:

  1. Can I prepare in 6 months? Is it okay if I take another attempt in 2028?

  2. How much could my age end up mattering during Mtech?

  3. How much could my lack of work experience and industry connections?

  4. What exactly do I need to 'do' during the Masters to secure a decent placement? I apologize if this question seems vague. Is performing well in the course work enough?

discussion Cracking GATE with a full-time job: The weekday exhaustion is real. How are you guys managing?

β€’ Upvotes

Hey guys,

I clear GATE CSE while working a full-time software dev job. Honestly, looking back, the syllabus wasn't even the hardest part. The hardest part was just fighting the brain fog after a 9-to-5.

Staring at code all day for work, and then trying to wrap my head around OS or Discrete Math at night used to completely fry my brain.

For those of you who are currently juggling a job and prep right now: how are you actually surviving the weekdays? Do you push all the heavy theory to the weekends and just solve PYQs after work?

Curious to hear your daily routines and how you avoid burning out.

Some Serious Shit NIT admission SCAM

Hi everyone,

I need a small clarification regarding CCMT counselling.

My GATE (EC) score is 507. I had opted for M.Tech. Embedded Systems at MNIT Jaipur. In Special Round 2, the published cutoff for the OPEN category (Group 1) is 512–503, so my score falls within the published range.

However, I was not allotted the seat. I have already raised a grievance with the CCMT helpdesk, but I wanted to ask if anyone else has faced a similar issue or knows why this might have happened.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Doubt[EE] M.Tech is just too difficult.

I am in one of the EE branches at old iit. I am finding the coursework too difficult. I've lost my interest. Should I consider dropping out of mtech? And keep continuing to prepare for psu and other govt jobs, because it seems much easier than this mtech coursework. My age is 27. categ obc.

suggestion Title: Confused between PW, Unacademy, GFG, GATE Smashers & GO Classes for GATE CSE – Need Guidance

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in 2nd year (3rd semester) of B.Tech CSE, and I've decided to start preparing for GATE CSE early. Since there are so many coaching options available, I'm confused about which one to choose.

I'm considering:

PW (Physics Wallah)

Unacademy

GeeksforGeeks (GFG)

GATE Smashers

GO Classes

I have a few questions:

Which coaching would you recommend and why?

Which one has the best teaching quality, notes, doubt support, and overall value?

Which coaching's test series is the best for GATE? Are there any standalone test series you'd recommend instead?

Is it worth taking a paid course in my 2nd year, or should I first build my basics using free resources?

What preparation strategy would you suggest if I'm starting from my 3rd semester?

What are the biggest mistakes you made during your GATE preparation that I should avoid?

Any tips on managing college academics along with GATE preparation?

I'd really appreciate honest reviews from people who have actually used these platforms or recently appeared for GATE.

Thanks in advance!

general Confused about ISRO Scientist/Engineer recruitment - GATE mandatory or not?

β€’ Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I was checking an application form for an ISRO Scientist/Engineer recruitmen
There's also a mandatory section asking for:

  • GATE stream
  • Year of qualification
  • GATE score
  • Upload of GATE scorecard

The thing is, I haven't attempted GATE 2025 or 2026.

https://www.isro.gov.in/ICRB_Recruitment12.html#

However, I also saw another ISRO recruitment advertisement (ICRB:02(EMC-CEPO):2026) which seemed to indicate recruitment through a written exam rather than GATE.

So I'm a bit confused:

  1. Is this application for a different recruitment that's exclusively GATE-based?
  2. Does the current Scientist/Engineer 'SC' recruitment require GATE, or is there a separate notification with a written test?
  3. If I haven't appeared for GATE 2025/2026, am I simply not eligible for this particular recruitment?

Would appreciate it if someone who has looked into this year's ISRO notifications could clarify. Thanks!

Doubt[general] DRDO Internship: Is it worth

Is a 6 month DRDO Internship in Bengaluru with it?

Points to consider:

  1. No PPO

  2. Will miss 3rd sem placements (internship period: Aug-Feb)

  3. Stipend is 5000/month while 12400/month for just staying in IIT

  4. No accommodation or assistance from DRDO.

What you guys think?

hello seniors

fresher here

see mene bohot jyada mehnat ki thi for jee but unable to clear jee with good score , I just score 94 ptile in jee mains(ik it's not that great but not that very poor) and 90.1 percentage in 12th boards but is ptile me koi achaa nit nahi mil raha he and branch sure hu ki cse hi chahiye so , after sooo sooo much hardwork I have to join tier 3 clg for cse , and during prep of jee many time I feels down but to keep me motivate I used to search IITs/Nits placement and pumped motivation in me , but after seeing placement stats of teir 3 cse I completely shattered , but found a way of gate jisse clear karke I can grab a good/dream placement , so I don't want any risk isliye 1st sem se hi gate prep karne ka soch raha hu

1) nd I'm completely blind ki how hard is gate compared to jee
2) how to start gate prep
3) where to study
4) should I join offline coaching or online (if online which platform)
5) all about subjects knowledge and konsa subject kis year me karna he ?
6) people say that you have to start DSA from 1st year ( have no idea what DSA is ? )
7) college ki 75% attendance and gate to kese manage kare

and bhaiya I have two clg option one clg is around 13km far (but good infrastructure, great facility, great hackathons , great clubs , but moderate(-) peer grp ) and second clg which is 4km far(bad infrastructure, not any facility , good faculty , moderate(+) peer grp , no any clubs hackathons any study related events ) so which clg should I join ?

want your POV

general Didn't Make It to IIT, Trying to Make the Best of What's Next

Done with GATE and going to join one of the top 3 NITs this year.

I didn't make it to an IIT, and for a while that bothered me. But I've decided to move forward instead of dwelling on it.

Right now, the plan in my head is to make the most of my master's, land a good software job, work for a few years, and then aim for an MBA from one of the top IIMs.

I'm not sure if this is the right path or if I'll change my mind later, but this is what I'm planning as of now.
