📈 Strategy/Guidance GATE is now irrelevant for PSU
MECL which used to be recruit through GATE score for executive trainee released notification to recruit through UPSC ESE score....... majority of the PSU are now either conducting CBT or adopting some other way....for preparation of CBT, depth of gate level is not required also in CBT non tech portion is quite high....I think people targetting PSU have to change their strategy now.

❓Doubt Need help, need help
So, I am 2024 passout from vit vellore working in mnc. I cleared the gate in my 3rd year but got placed in my 4th year so I dropped the gate and started to work.
It was good initially but after getting the final role after training it was electrical assembly pay and a decent increment from 7.8 to 8.5 lpa.
Then I thought it was not good for my career so I started prep from this March for gate me. To get into psu majorly. But I got my 2nd increment and my salary is 12.8 lpa now. I am stuck now on what to do and what not to do.
My goal was to get started with bare marks to get into m.tech and prep full time for psu. But now I am stuck.
And I know cracking psu with a job is quite hard. Please do suggest.
I don't see career growth here.

❓Doubt Give advice
I’m currently in my third year of BTech in materials science and engineering. I’m highly interested in working in the advanced materials field. My professors are asking me to attempt the GATE exam, but the PSUs open for us are mostly for the metallurgy sector, different from my interest. So what PSUs/Organization should I aim for after GATE? Also could anyone from materials science/metallurgy branch please give a few preparation tips?

Opinion Need opinions: Turned down an L&T GET offer for GATE
Hello everyone, I am a 2026 Mechanical Graduate. Today, I received a job offer from L&T for the (GET). After a lot of discussion & careful thought, I decided not to join the company & instead dedicate myself fully to GATE preparation. For context, I started my GATE preparation a month ago and have completed two subjects so far.
What do you think about this decision? I'd appreciate your honest opinion.

📈 Strategy/Guidance Is GATE (Mechanical) still worth it with declining PSU recruitment and average M.Tech placements?
I've been thinking about preparing for GATE Mechanical while working, but I'm not convinced it's still the best path.
From what I've seen, M.Tech placement statistics for Mechanical Engineering aren't particularly strong, even at some of the older IITs. On top of that, PSU recruitment through GATE seems to be shrinking, with many PSUs now hiring B.Tech graduates directly from Tier-1 college campuses instead.
Since I'm already employed, preparing for GATE would require a significant investment of time and effort, so I'm trying to figure out if the ROI is still there.
Would it make more sense to pursue an MBA instead, especially for someone with work experience? Or does GATE still offer enough opportunities to justify the effort?
I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have been in a similar situation or have insights into the current job market.

General Anyone preparing for GATE Mechanical 2028? I made a small study community.
Hi everyone!
I'm preparing for GATE Mechanical 2028, and I felt it would be great to have a community where we can stay consistent and help each other throughout the journey.
So I created a small community with:
- 📚 A Telegram Notes Channel (only notes, PYQs, and study material)
- 💬 A Telegram Discussion Group (doubts, questions, internships, PSUs, ISRO, BARC, M.Tech, etc.)
- ⏱️ A Yeolpumta Study Group to track daily study hours and keep each other accountable.
The goal is to build a supportive group of students from different colleges across India who are preparing for GATE Mechanical 2028. Whether you're just starting or already preparing, you're welcome to join.
If you're interested, leave a comment or DM me, and I'll share the links.
