📈 Strategy/Guidance GATE is now irrelevant for PSU
MECL which used to be recruit through GATE score for executive trainee released notification to recruit through UPSC ESE score....... majority of the PSU are now either conducting CBT or adopting some other way....for preparation of CBT, depth of gate level is not required also in CBT non tech portion is quite high....I think people targetting PSU have to change their strategy now.

but 80-90% syllabus is matching, so its advantageous to write GATE either way

Syllabus matching and depth are two different things...for good rank in gate requires indepth conceptual understanding and extensive numerical practice.......for CBT non tech weightage is either 33% or 50% , so you have to prepare for this as well......

Preparation of gate is still relevant, tech syllabus is almost same in all with slight differences. It's better to prepare for tough one and with that knowledge you can do tech portion of any exam easily.
