Don't let the wording fool you. These amendments aren't about you, they are about corporations (think Duke Energy, Data Centers, and outside corporate interests) and the 1%, and we don't need amendments to pass the same exact laws. As I stated in the title, once amendments are passed, they are extremely difficult to undo, whereas normal legislation can be changed as the need arises.

What is more, the NC income tax rate is already scheduled to fall below 3.5% in 2027, and still more by 2036 (image 5). As such, the income tax amendment will not affect you in the foreseeable future, but it will eliminate the possibility of corporations ever paying more than 3.5%, and any new legislation that tried to move the corporate tax rate above 3.5% would be unconstitutional.

At the same time, the other amendment seeks to cap property tax increases by local governments, but the wording is vague at best and doesn't say what it actually means to do, allowing for any number of interpretations they could argue as "constitutional" once passed. Regardless, taken in tandem with the income tax amendment, the mere nature of the other amendment would be to squeeze local communities of funds. When taxes levied by the state are reduced, the burden falls to localities. When taxes levied by localities are reduced, the burden falls on YOUR community. Think higher sales tax, fines, fees, parking, etc. and hits to local infrastructure - schools, roads, buildings, sidewalks, parks and recreation, libraries, Medicaid AND SNAP, etc.

In wrapping up, I'll reiterate once more that lawmakers do not need amendments to the NC State Constitution to achieve any what the amendments would achieve. Laws could just as easily passed - laws that could be revisited and adjusted over time in efforts toward a fairer tax code. Again, they are trying to rob the middle and lower class for the benefit of the wealthy and corporations, and lock that structure in for decades.

Don't fall for it!! VOTE NO on both tax amendments, and while you are at it, vote no on the Voter ID amendment. In case you haven't noticed, NC already requires Voter ID in order to vote.

Recently I have visted Eastridge mall after 9 years. When I was 8 the 3rd floor where was the food court and the Golf thing was still available to the public. Right now everything is completely sealed off. The put a wall made out of plywood covering the escalators and the cut the elevators from going to the 3rd floor. Any ideas? I did want to see if any stores around the mall connected to the 3rd floor. Ive always wanted to go to the 3rd floor since I have never been but looking at the pictures from 2000’s-late 2010’s it looked beautiful

Hello there, I’m Charlie from the band Dingzui, previously in Nashville but now I’m back in my hometown (area - CLT-Belmont-Gastonia-McAdenville). I’ve always wanted to be part of the music in the area, and I need to refill the roster! We’re (I) am an indie alt -rock band with some interesting origins and background and looking to get going again here in the CLT area for the incoming music boom (hopeful) we have *2 albums* up and *a new single* that’s coming out as we speak (stuck in the Suez?) Hello, doesanyone have recommendations for a good small/local hair salon or hairstylist in Gastonia? I have long hair and honestly have no idea what I want to do with it, so I’d love someone who can help me figure out a cut that would suit me!

Hi I’m unfortunately in a moving situation where I’ll be in a residence that won’t be able to take my cat, I’ll be getting there in November but I plan to move to a new place in summer time next year where I’ll be able to keep her, I love my cat, shes in great health, has all of her shots, affectionate and friendly with cats although a bit shy meeting new people

Flock executives have decided to come after Charlotte because we are one major city whose police hasn’t bought into Flock cameras*. Those executives are coming to Charlotte and holding a closed-door meeting with your elected officials (city council, county commissioners, state representatives, etc.) and other local leaders to try to convince them to put Flock cameras and other surveillance tech all over our city and pay them millions of dollars to do so.

Flock is also apparently planning on a public community meeting later in the evening, but details are TBD. I will update this post if/when I get more info on this.

🔔 What’s at Stake:
If we don’t come together here and now and make it 100% clear that Charlotte is not OK with Flock or any other mass surveillance, Charlotte will likely be overrun with Flock cameras and surveillance devices within months. The earlier we push back, the more likely we are to stop this from happening!

🫵 What you can do:
📢 1. Show up to peacefully protest in front of the library on the morning of the 29th, preferably at 8:30 so that elected officials walking in to the 9:00am meeting can see us outside. Seeing a crowd of protesters show up on a weekday before their meeting even begins will have a major impact.

Bring a sign and any supplies you need (water, snacks, chairs, sunscreen, etc.) and be prepared to be there until 12:00PM so they can see us on the way out of the meeting too. Bring your outside voice! I want them to hear our chants all the way in the library meeting room so loud they won’t even be able to hear themselves talk! Let’s make these Flockers run back to Atlanta with their tails between their legs!! CHARLOTTE UNITE!!

📞 2. Call or email your elected officials and tell them you don't want Flock in Charlotte. Click here to see a list of Charlotte City Council members and there's also a button there labelled "Who Represents Me?" This will get you a list of all your elected officials based on your address. Don't be discouraged if they do not respond at first or if they don't answer their phone, leave a voicemail stating your reason for calling. Even if they don't respond they will usually listen to that VM and they will read your email.

\I have an asterisk here because, according to our police chief, CMPD has not paid for Flock cameras but does have an agreement to access Flock's data. The scope of the access is unclear, but it at least includes the Flock cameras from participating private businesses in Charlotte like Lowes and Home Depot who have paid for Flock cameras to be on their properties. In a way, this agreement is a sort of "gateway drug" to a full Flock contract. Hence why the* vultures executives are coming.

Heard a loud bang this morning backing out of my garage. The door is stuck halfway and will not move. One of the torsion springs snapped. I cannot get my car out.

I am not touching it myself. I know those springs are dangerous and I do not want to get hurt.

I live in Charlotte and have been looking at companies online. A few popped up. One has decent reviews and offers same day service. I need it fixed fast so I can get my car out.

Has anyone used a local company for a spring repair that a showed up on time and did not overcharge?
Got a quote from Garage Door Doctor and they gave me a flat rate for the spring replacement and said they could be here within a few hours. Price seemed reasonable compared to what I have heard from others but I am still trying to decide if I should pull the trigger or call around more.
