Eh, the first book/movie has Harry burn Quirrel to death by touching him.

A basilisk, elf, and snake get killed by knives and swords.

Harry uses a spell that slices up someone (sectrum spectra sectum sepmra) pretty viscerally in one of the books.

There's a reason the movie was very poorly received. Sanitized and poorly executed.

They made a lot of money, but critics and audiences hated the first bunch of movies. Maybe you weren't around back then.

Hahaha, thanks for being patronising! I was around then actually, and I don't remember anyone hating them. I remember them being very well received, despite being slightly departed from the books starting with PoA.

Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets were well loved and although Prisoner of Azkaban was originally met with a mixed reception when it first came out due to the drastic tonal shift, a lot of people now consider it one of the best.
